This from what I remember was more because of the MLB rejecting any more exclusive games and wanting it to go multiplatform or they'd pull the license from Sony and probably give it to someone else. While the name change to PlayStation Studios does hint at more of their first party games shedding exclusivity I think at best it's just for the PC. I doubt you'll see many on other consoles. Heck at this point because of the zenimax deal I bet you'll see more Xbox Game Studios titles on the PlayStation since they've already committed to honoring the exclusivity deals already in place.2 points -
Intel Evo vs Apple Silicon part one: Unboxing the MacBook Pro 13

I agree with Linus on this. I returned a Intel based laptop and used that to get my MacBook Air M1. I use it everyday and what I had to actually get used to, was not grabbing the charging cable when I went from my home office to the kitchen or dining room. I can use it all day and even play my favorite Steam game Cities:Skylines for several hours at a clip and not kill the battery. This design truly works for me. I'm considering replacing my desktop with the Mac Mini M1x whenever its announced. Intel feels aged in comparison. Why would you change the desktop? It doesn't have a battery, where the M1 shines (per Linus and your usage) I have a M1 Mini and it is so much better than the '18 intel Mini. Battery isn't the only benefit for M1's. It is much quicker than the intel version, even though it is the base model. It is cold to the touch, uses less power and I don't think I've actually heard the fan yet. I've kept the intel Mini and am currently using it as a bootcamp to Windows for gaming.2 points -

Bing is the search engine you use when you're not actually searching for something, either because you're making a joke or because you really don't care... Everyone inside the USA praises it, I've never seen anyone outside the US say it's ever been good, and in my personal experience (non-USA) it's been complete trash. I don't use Google either to be honest, I use Duck duck go, which gets it info from a few different places including bing as far as I know, but when I have used bing it seems to be linked to the U.S and bring results from the U.S. more than the u.K, Alexa uses bing as well, which is why it doesn't know anything. Agreed I switched to duck duck go and it's been brilliant, some obsecure things have had either no or completelely irrelevant results but other than that I've had no issues with it.1 point -

I find the fact that there are fanboys for a launcher absolutely bizarre. I've got Steam, Epic, Bethesda and Xbox games on my PC. Who cares what the launcher is, don't we play games to... play games? So do I, but your take is completely disingenuous. Realistically, gamers don't really care until you start taking away the options of which platform you want to buy a game on. How do you not understand this? It's astounding to me when we read articles about Sony trying to keep their thumb over Microsoft, and the commenters rightfully exclaim their annoyance when they just want to play games... Yet, when the discussion becomes about Epic, people act like they just woke up from a coma. None of this is hard to understand, and boiling it down to people just being mad because "muh Steam" is just silly at best. You summed it up nicely. If I have a choice, I will pick the store with a lower price, which would usually be Epic. If I don't have a choice (aka game locked to EGS because of money), I won't buy it at all. Still, GOG is the best platform to buy games. Also this is why I don't mind when Microsoft buys a game studio. That studio gets cash to work on games and they will always be on PC+Xbox and sometimes Playstation.1 point -

Good grief people.. Didn't ANY of you pay attention in physics class? The amount of loss in this will be ridiculous... You're looking at MAYBE, in an ideal situation, 1% efficiency AT BEST. 5w charging? you're going have to shove at LEAST 500w into the charger, then you have to convert back to DC within the phone which has around 50% loss, so that means a KILOWATT of power AT MINIMUM to MAYBE put 5w into your phone? Do you want to walk into a room with a kilowatt of power being beamed around in it? Because I sure don't.1 point -

The thing is, censorship is a right of a platform when they are the ones paying for the service to exist. Just like here on Neowin; your posts can be censored - someone can report you for speech that promotes violence, is racist, or otherwise is offensive. If I get a warning on this site because of what I say in a post, I can't cry "censorship is bad!" I agree to be censored as part of the PRIVILEGE of posting on this site. The same goes for all the other social media sites out there. No one has a right to post anything - everything you do on someone else's site is a PRIVILEGE. Once you look at it that way, you can start to move away from thinking that all censorship is bad. But are they truly the ones paying for the service to exist? Remember that we are the product and it is data about us that is being sold so that these platforms can rake in the big bucks. Keeping this in mind why do you suppose we should be treating access to these platforms as a privilege? You seriously think FB & co. are doing us a favor by allowing us to access their services, and that we should be grateful and feel privileged as a result? Wow. No wonder the people behind these sites have such massively bloated egos. After all, they're providing such a huge service gratis to all of humanity and we little people should rightly be bowing down to them for allowing us to register and use their sites. Feeling so blessed...1 point -

Intel Evo vs Apple Silicon part three: Setting up the peripherals
astropheed reacted to spy beef for a topic
I see some conflict of interest here given that Intel has provided all the stuff. It would have been better to have someone that has no horse in this race to sponsor it to lend more credibility to the claim that its the author's independent opinion. Intel sent peripherals that don't work well with the M1. For a balanced comparison, they should've included some Apple ecosystem stuff like an iPhone, iPad, and AirPods. Continuity, Handoff and Sidecar don't work on Windows machines.1 point -

Who likes it? Even Epic doesn't like it. But that's how you do business these days, and it is not illegal. Your other option is dying in anonymity. Every time an author releases a good book, video game publishers try to get an exclusive right. Epic is the company that made AAA games possible. "even epic doesn't like it" Epic has been a horrible company since day one... saying they don't like it flies in the face of all their crap. I'll pass on "free games" to not support a garbage company like Epic. Is that so? Well, I have an alternative explanation: Backbiting is cheap, fun, and risk-free on the Internet, especially when you hide behind an unreal alias and escape charges of libel. (Over time, you mistake your ability to backbite as something protected by free speech!) All it takes is being morally corrupt. Are you actually suggesting he is slandering Epic? I have no idea what you are smoking, but I don't want to be anywhere close to it. Try using a new insult for a change. Yes, I am suggesting that all of this is a repeated pattern of libel for fun. It is some morally corrupt people's hobby; the company is different each time. In the 2000s, Microsoft was the usual suspect. Even the pattern of insulting the opposition is repetitive and unoriginal. For the record, this is the third time you are insulting me in this thread. You've shamelessly called me a liar twice and now an opiate-addict. Implying you are high is not an insult. Insulting Epic Games is not libel. The buying of exclusive titles instead of just building a better store left a lot of sour in people's mouths, and very justifiably.1 point -

Intel Evo vs Apple Silicon part one: Unboxing the MacBook Pro 13

"This unit was sent, believe it or not, by Intel. In fact, Intel sent over a bunch of goodies, such as a Razer Book 13, a Razer Core X external GPU enclosure, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, a CalDigit Thunderbolt dock, and a Samsung T7 Touch SSD." Ah yes, let's compare a low power device to one with the highest specs available... That's incredibly poor even by intel's already jaw droppingly low standards. "But it's right about how I can't connect an external GPU to the MacBook Pro, or apparently even dual monitors (I haven't tested that last bit myself yet)." Can't connect dual monitors? Sounds like ###### to me, someone at our work from years ago had a mac (not this new one obviously) and had to buy some special external hardware to use dual monitors which went into the thunderbolt port but it did work. "it feels so strange that Apple didn't bother to redesign the hardware at all. All of the M1 Macs go right in the chassis of their Intel-powered predecessors, and being that Apple so rarely updates its Mac designs, it feels dated" Why is that strange? Why redesign what you already have? They do the same thing with phones, iphone 8 and iphone SE from last year are the same chassis, original iphone SE, iphone 5s, iphone 5 are all the same chassis - so? Maybe this is the baseline model and in a year or 2 there will be one with a much higher performing custom CPU which requires a fan, seems smart to me to not waste money redesigning it for something you're going to have to redesign again. Not really sure on the dated design comment? Laptops had keyboard and trackpads in the 90s and their lids closed, as do laptops today, what's dated about that?1 point -

If I have a choice and the game is cheaper on Epic, I will buy it on Epic. That is how it is supposed to work. That's fair... my decision is more about the company as a whole - and I won't support Epic. Similarly, I won't use Ubisofts platform either. It left a bad taste in my mouth with Far Cry not only requiring it to install but requiring it for "always online" gaming for a single player shooter... Epic is way worse and has been so for way longer... but neither of those platforms add value and as such, the last Far Cry game I will own is 3 even though I love the series.1 point -

what's worse is they're not even consistent on their rulings. just the other week I reported a group for posting a scantly pic of a chick who's tits/nips could be seen through the purposefully wet shirt and got the response back it doesn't violate. and that group continues to post similar pics. it's supposed to be an anime group too so .... No... what's worse, are people such as yourself that hit the report button like it's a morphine drip, and get off on it. You're not doing anyone favors by hitting that when it doesn't violate social norms...much less their rules. A wet t-shirt doesn't compare to people planning an attack or gathering of a local hate group. You're gonna be you, and I'm not going to persuade you otherwise.. but maybe you should let the admins of the group know that a post went off topic instead of choosing the report button first. Or better yet... as an admin of several groups myself, we tell those report happy go-getters to "scroll on". Mostly because they love it to hit that button, rather than actually contributing to the group. Food for thought.1 point -

Facebook in general is scary but this would be at the bottom of the list of why. The problem I see is who decides what is authoritative or not? Will it be renowned historians, or Facebook contractors? Denying a fact based on opinion is one thing. But, at what point will people be directed toward what Facebook wants them to see and nothing else? When it comes to the Holocaust factual information is readily available. You can double check by yourself. It would be like complaining about facebook linking Wikipedia about the earth being a sphere and complaining about who decide it's not flat ... like really guys wake up and come down to earth.1 point -

goretsky reacted to Brandon H for a topic
what resolution and refresh rate are you trying to achieve? outside of faulty cable that would be my only thought, you're possibly trying to push a resolution/refresh rate for HDMI 2.0/2.1 and that cord isn't rated for that. HDMI is a digital signal so it's either it works or it doesn't so if you're just pushing 1080p or something then it's more than likely just a faulty cord that you should be allowed a free exchange on.1 point
