It's not a matter of interest, it will be simply the OS that will come up with every new Huawei device. Do you have an idea of how many devices Huawei sells outside of China? Do you have any idea how much sales of Huawei phones dropped the last quarter outside of China just with no Google Play Store and services? Replacing Android with a clone version is just going to continue that trend.3 points -

there are plenty of usable mobile OSs now, notably the Sailfish and KDE mobile projects. The challenge has always been getting support, mainly apps. Sailfish, and even Linux attempts to get Android apps running via emulation, compatibility layers, and containers seem to have not made things any better. I think Huawei is trying to base Harmony on android, then fork it in their own direction - like Libreoffice from OpenOffice/Ubuntu from Debian for example - possibly make it completely separate eventually.3 points -

It... kinda is if you're an indie dev. Exposure is important, as is the ability to have Early Access to gain momentum and continue to build. This is more for them, than it is for the player. That being said, when you get people on Twitch/YouTube uploading Let's Play videos, reviews, or simply building "top [category] games to look forward to in 2021" lists, it will easily boost sales and hell just mental relief knowing there's people supporting some of these projects.2 points -

Elon's richer, and he seems fine running 5 companies. Bill Gates was even richer. And his passion in life wasn't running a company. His record in the company says the opposite. No games? There's a decent selection of PS5 games out there. I've been playing Watch Dogs, CoD & Assassins Creed since day 1. Hitman III was released 2 weeks ago, FIFA for PS5 in December although I bought both of those on Series X. There's games to play... I think they mean exclusive games, since pretty much everything is still launching on PS4. I don't think exclusives are a necessity for a strong launch, though, since a lot of people just want to have the latest thing and leverage that additional power. This argument can be brought up with any launch, people said the same about the Switch, and that launched with Breath of the Wild.2 points -

No company with the right mind will put their money and effort in an OS other than Android. The market is closed for new OSes unless there is something revolutionary expected in the mobile space. Google still commands Android and that's not going to change even if Amazon or Huawei try. They can at best influence Android to implement features in their OSes. There needs to be a lot more than 2 large players to dilute Google's hold on Android development. If Xiaomi and then BBK all come under a similar ban in the US, then it will be an interesting development.2 points -

Power in a nutshell:: You don't cede your power unless you are ousted or sick. When Bill Gates "renounced" (also Ballmer at the same time and Ballmer loved his former job), he was nominated as a sidekick of the CEO. It was just a "figurative role", then later Bill Gates packed and moved elsewhere. Why Bill Gates renounced? We will never know but commonly it is because of money or women. Source? It started with this: 2000 Bill Gates is not the CEO but instead is the chairman. The Chairman is a step over the CEO, the Chairman could fire the CEO anytime, so for Bill Gates, it was a level up. 2013: https://www.reuters.com/articl...down-idUSBRE9901H320131002" rel="external nofollow">https://www.reuters.com/articl...-down-idUSBRE9901H320131002 Shareholders "asked" that Bill Gates should step down. The role of chairman is simple: if you are a major shareholder (or you have the votes) then you are the chairman. And, as a chairman, you can decide not to go to meetings (and delegate the work for a representative). Some millionaires never go to any meetings and they are still chairman of one or many businesses at the same time. For example, John Thompsons is a member of many companies. Bill Gates could be a chairman and runs a full-dedication foundation, so the excuse to get more time for Bill and Linda Gates foundation is funny but not real. 2014: https://www.businessinsider.com/bill-gates-2014-2" rel="external nofollow">https://www.businessinsider.com/bill-gates-2014-2 So Bill Gates is deposed as a chairman. 2020: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/0...gates-microsoft-board.html" rel="external nofollow">https://www.nytimes.com/2020/0...-gates-microsoft-board.html And finally, Bill Gates is gone for good. This I already know. I am talking about this: "Why Bill Gates renounced? We will never know but commonly it is because of money or women."2 points -

Alphabet announces Q4 2020 earnings with $56.9B in revenue
Brony reacted to Nas for a topic
Some other calculus (see https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/0...ion-revenue-last-year.html) Google Cloud, operationally, lost $5.61 billion against $13.06 billion revenue. That's like spending $18 billion to only make $13 billion in revenue. Doing the other math, their overall income would have been double if they simply cut their losses with Google Cloud and stopped it. For their internal operations strategy, that's not going to happen (cuz it's mostly a funny-accounting business for them), but it's going to take many years before Google Cloud becomes a 'success story' for Alphabet.1 point -

PotPlayer 210201 [Update]
kopsarchidis reacted to Jaybonaut for a topic
Or try VLC. Also, for some reason, potplayer connects to several IPs on startup. And you know this how? Ghacks did an indepth review of the latest Potplayer and found nothing of what you are stating. Infact they found no Spyware, No Adware other than the Logo pops up ocassionally. https://www.ghacks.net/2020/12...-look-at-potplayer-in-2020/ Next time, read twice before posting crap! At your link it states: "I monitored the program using Glasswire, and found that it pinged some servers in South Korea. stat.tiara.g.daum.net play.gl.kakao.com p1-play.kgslb.com p2-play.kgslb.com t1.wg2vgaja.kgslb.com t1.int.daumcdn.net These seem to belong to Kakao, which owns a messaging platform called KakaoTalk. PotPlayer has options for chat and that broadcast feature probably uses the same, and as I mentioned earlier I couldn't get it to work. It is possible the program pings the instant messaging servers for providing these services. Or, maybe it uses those servers to check for updates or subtitles? You can block these URLs in your Hosts file to play it safe." Potplayer is the same crap it has always been! Download CurrPorts to see for yourself. PotPlayer is by far the best media player out there. MPC cannot reach it and VLC is a complete joke compared to it. Now those pings is because Potplayer is a Korean software and it doulbles as chat software-big deal, ever here of Windows Firewall? Create new outbound rule for PotPlayer .exe file and Block it. And here are the closing words from your source of info 'bout potplayer: "Is PotPlayer worth using? As a media player, it works fine and the playback is just as good as in other players that I use. But it's difficult to recommend a player that has a shady past, and I'm not sure when the ads were removed. Above everything else it needs to earn the trust of users, so only time will tell the answer. I wish it was open sourced, but quite frankly I don't see that happening." Yeah! https://www.ghacks.net/2020/12...look-at-potplayer-in-2020/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.ghacks.net/2020/12...-look-at-potplayer-in-2020/ For the fun of it, just read the commends all the way down. And from pcrisk https://www.pcrisk.com/removal-guides/18224-potplayer-adware "PotPlayer is a rogue application endorsed as a multimedia player compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 7 and 8 operating systems. It is classified as adware. ... Due to the dubious methods used to promote this app, it is also classified as a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA).Dec 9, 2020" So long for your all time fave! Yeah I'm with you, I uninstalled PotPlayer awhile ago and just stick to MPC, VLC, and the Movies & TV app (which suuuucks by comparison but it sometimes works.)1 point -
