I think the other issue is that, just like with political content, these things can be biased. Lets say you have two trusted scientists, one says that his tests prove that the sky is red and the other says his tests prove the sky is blue. How do you decide if something is "misinformation" in that scenario? Unless you have a bias toward one line of thought, you will end up simply saying something is dodgy information, when actually there is proof to say otherwise.2 points -

You are forced to register it, I must admit I was not fond of that, but it is only an email address they need and I have had no emails from them since I have had the camera. The activation allows you to use the software and the have updates. How many people here have a MS account or a google account? I know I have said I hate being pushed to register and have accounts for everything, but sometimes it is just the way it is. The camera is great, the reason it is cheaper is because of the pocket 2. my one problem is the lack of a mini USB adapter for the camera, so I had to use my neighbours phone to activate it. I want to use it more, this pandemic stopped me using it so much.2 points -

Really depends on what you like. Thankfully, they added all sorts of filters and ways to narrow down your search based on what you're wanting. However, I found myself more interested watching the "Now Broadcasting" streams of different games. Some that interested me... Who is He: Let Me Out The Last Spell (awesome music, tactical RPG) Expedition Zero Eville (a 3D sort of Among Us type) Happy's Humble Burger Farm - No effing clue what this game even is, but I was super into watching it. It's like they made a food making game... ominous? If that even makes sense. Game just has atmosphere.2 points -

It... kinda is if you're an indie dev. Exposure is important, as is the ability to have Early Access to gain momentum and continue to build. This is more for them, than it is for the player. That being said, when you get people on Twitch/YouTube uploading Let's Play videos, reviews, or simply building "top [category] games to look forward to in 2021" lists, it will easily boost sales and hell just mental relief knowing there's people supporting some of these projects.2 points -

If that is surprising, go for a dig on remote surveillance technologies humankind has mastered and been using for decades. The lightbulb in your room can broadcast every sound you make to anyone that can see it with an over the counter telescope. That method can now even use a bright spot in your room on certain surfaces. (Just a tiny example.) Subject is technologically interesting and frightening at the same time. Satellite system pulled in the late 90s were capable of doing things that even today people think are impossible. Example I use, since I worked on and seen them first hand, and it was no longer classified, because they were so outdated compared to what went up to replace them. 20 years later, and I'm sure what is up there would still blow past my wildest imagination.1 point -

Sometimes they announce features that some users have had for a long time. skype is an f'ing terrible piece of software. i use it regularly, but boy is it trash. I use it regularly too for voice calls and sometimes video, I don't mind it. The video call quality is so much better than WhatsApp etc. Just massive difference. sure, it has better video quality than whatsapp, but what a low f'ing bar. skype is slow, ugly, lacks features, on mobile is an f'ing mess and doesn't even consistently alert you to messages instead hours later giving you a message saying "you may have skype messages you haven't read" like wtf in 2021? it's a bad piece of software basically abandoned after being the the market leader. it has been rewritten so many times and with each edition performance gets worse. does it kinda work? yes. is the quality acceptable from the worlds largest software company? absolutely not. like bob said, if you want to see a video call app microsoft actually bothers with see teams.1 point -
Samsung Galaxy S21+ review: Understated excellence
dead.cell reacted to Joe User for a topic
You forgot to add: aptX 3D touch Iris scanner I agree with you, but we should look at the other side too. They have added or changed the following: Bigger and slimmer phone Taller and larger screen 120Hz refresh rate More powerful processer and GPU 5G Wifi6 Extra ultrawide camera Bigger sensor for main camera Better selfie camera 8K video capture on the main camera 4K video capture on the selfie camera Wireless Dex UWB support Bigger battery Faster charging Faster Wireless charging Reverse Wireless charging Not all features may appeal to everybody. To me, Headphone jack, SD card slot, no notch display, MST and essential accessories are a must have in a Samsung flagship. All others are extra. However, I also need an ultrawide camera and better battery. I haven't used a 120Hz screen so I am not sure about that. To me, I have lost more than I gain with the S21 compared to the S9. That may not be the same for others. The improvements can be lumped in to one category, generic smartphone functionality improvements. With a couple of minor exceptions you could take that list and apply it to most phone manufacturers. There's nothing really new in their design and the removal of all the things that made the Galaxy line unique is a sad reminder that Samsung just wants to make a boring clone phone.1 point -

suni08 reacted to dead.cell for a topic
Think you missed them killing the iris scanner too, which would've been handy given the pandemic. (unless they added it back?) Also, the curved edges were crap personally. Can't tell you how many misclicks I did with it, which was the great thing about the S10e, which maintained a fingerprint reader on the power button and didn't round the edges nearly as much, making it much more usable. Honestly, I don't think I've been interested in a Samsung phone since. Everyone I knew who tried the iris scanner couldn't get it to work well, so just used the fingerprint It only works in very bright conditions for me How was your success with it? Friend of mine was bragging about it when he got the Note 9 I think? Never saw him use it beyond the first week. Same with Bixby, and we see where that's at now lol.1 point -

Android TV homescreen gets a Google TV-style revamp
Brandon H reacted to +Warwagon for a topic
Other than the UI I wonder what's so different? This coming from someone who has both a Shield TV 2017 and 2 Google Chromecast with Google TV's doing a basic google search for the difference it appears it's literally just the android version each uses. Android TV is based on Android 9 where Google TV is based on Android 10 with the home screen enhancements. https://www.howtogeek.com/6938...-google-tv-and-android-tv/" rel="external nofollow">https://www.howtogeek.com/6938...n-google-tv-and-android-tv/ so basically it's just more fragmentation for the sake of it ... The one feature I love is selecting who you want to show up from your photos as a screensaver. It goes through my years of photos. I pretty much always have a different photo show up on my screensaver. You can select which people you want to show up. If they are in the photo it will show up, works for dogs too.1 point -

dang yeah looks like that model doesn't have the swappable port; I've got a similar model to the one mentioned above it has a 3rd slot that has a 2nd display port currently. The usb ports on the model I have are stacked 2 and 2 so there's more room for the expansion slot. what you could do is get a USB adapter for a 2nd display. usb-to-dp or usb-to-hdmi. they work good for day to day use; just not great for gaming which I'm guessing you're not doing on that thing anyway. edit: it looks like the usb-to-hdmi adapters are a bit of a cheaper solution than display port adapters but here's one of each as an example from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Diamond-DisplayPort-Ultra-High-Definition-3840x2160-DisplayLink/dp/B00QGW67Q2/ https://www.amazon.com/ABLEWE-Graphics-Converter-Projector-Compatible/dp/B07TT6WZ7V/1 point -

I was expecting someone to say this. Suppose it's up to how you look at it and the data it gives Google. Or that it gives data to Google that is unknown, encrypted from oversight, and never disclosed to end users. It is 'technically' a type of spyware/malware. The difference is that people trust/assume Google are not horrible, sadly I believe they are horrible. In contrast most other products or companies like Microsoft, tell people (which why Win10 is wrongly labeled as nefarious). Every bit of data that goes to Microsoft can be tracked and examined. Also, if Microsoft was hiding data or doing something wrong, the Internet would be flooded with headlines, as there are a ton of anti-MS/Win people that look for stuff. Google shouldn't get a pass here, and they never should have. Just because they were doing crap before the average population noticed, don't mean it is ok. Every bit of data that goes to Microsoft can be tracked and examined. Thats a plain lie. No organisation or individual person outside of Msft knows for sure the entire telemetry data decryption and how it is used by that company. There are many public studies, that decrypted SOME parts. You can google about some TROOPER slides, some Korean researchers published a study, some German government study ( Telemetriefunktionen und Datenschutz beim Einsatz von Windows 10 Enterprise Stand: 26.11.2020 its in german if you speak Deutsch) but no one (at least publically) published a study about the entire telemetry process.1 point -

No games? There's a decent selection of PS5 games out there. I've been playing Watch Dogs, CoD & Assassins Creed since day 1. Hitman III was released 2 weeks ago, FIFA for PS5 in December although I bought both of those on Series X. There's games to play... I think they mean exclusive games, since pretty much everything is still launching on PS4. I don't think exclusives are a necessity for a strong launch, though, since a lot of people just want to have the latest thing and leverage that additional power. This argument can be brought up with any launch, people said the same about the Switch, and that launched with Breath of the Wild. Correct. There's little incentive to get a PS5 (unless you'd like higher resolution, faster framerates, and loading times). All the games came out on the PS4. Demons Souls remake , Astro’s Playroom and Destruction AllStars Astro's Playroom comes with the console. And people talk about the Demon Souls remake. But they don't actually buy it. it's one of those word of mouth games. And Destruction AllStars came out yesterday. And it's a free game with Playstation Plus so no one will be buying it.1 point -
