No, it isn't. It is though. It's been one huge flaming piece of crap since launch. The patches haven't helped either. The "game" itself was a massive bug and their patches are adding even more bugs? Who needs that many bugs??? Yeah if you're on a console. If you're a gamer then you've got a PC and you're enjoying the hell out of the game. That's why people disagree with you. Consoles drag every would-be great game down just so they'll "run."2 points -

I was kinda hoping they would. This was not the "Link tax" situation in the EU (whatever happened to that one anyway?) and was just a stupid attempt, that unfortunately work, to get cash. Maybe. There is the chance Australia is right and people would find the news outlets organically. It would have been a good test if they pulled out. In a way, by Google caving seems like they suspected or had data it would have proved Australia right, and added empirical evidence for other countries to look at. *I don't know shrug.* (If this is them staying, I wasn't sure from this piece alone.)2 points -

Two words: enterprise users. Thats why its still there. No matter the subject someone always mentions the enterprise and/or what Grandma is doing. What about the typical user who is using Windows Home or Pro. LOL Fun fact. Microsoft makes more money from enterprise users than home users. Therefore they get priority. IE isn't hurting you by being there, and it would hurt enterprise users if not there.1 point -

If this whole graphics card "shortage" phase goes for too long, pc gaming may actually be dead in a few years. Terrible entry level cards are sold at a price of xbox series x or ps5 in my country. A mid-range card like rtx3600ti costs more than twice as much as a ps5. The whole market serves for miners and streamers now. I'm not getting anything until there's a decent card at around $200-300. edit: btw ps5 and xbox series x both cost a little over 1200$ in my area, so do the math.1 point -

Nothing. I think it opened the floodgates. What was it, Spain? Where Google shut down GNews and most publication's traffic dropped significantly? I mean, if I want to know something I go to Google News, search the topic and then go to a specific website. I would caution anyone using only Google News for sourcing, as there are issues with bombing and bounce effects, along with Google's own focus shift of how the algorithm picks content for you. I know a conspiracy researcher that found Google was presenting some insane stuff as it adapted to their past searches and clicks. (Hit another engine or pick a few news sources that have to adhere to journalism standards. US Newspapers for example are more solid than other mediums. Even the crazy Left/Right papers will do facts, and retractions and keep opinion well labeled. I'm very aware of this. The issue is searching for a specific topic. Searches on websites themselves suck.1 point -

You are forced to register it, I must admit I was not fond of that, but it is only an email address they need and I have had no emails from them since I have had the camera. The activation allows you to use the software and the have updates. How many people here have a MS account or a google account? I know I have said I hate being pushed to register and have accounts for everything, but sometimes it is just the way it is. The camera is great, the reason it is cheaper is because of the pocket 2. my one problem is the lack of a mini USB adapter for the camera, so I had to use my neighbours phone to activate it. I want to use it more, this pandemic stopped me using it so much. It's the principle of the thing. Sure I could use a throwaway email, but that's NOT the point! They shouldn't be wanting an account for a bloody CAMERA in the first place! Just like a phone should not need an account, apart from the normal service provider. Up to you at the end of the day, there are other alternatives to the Osmo You can still use an Android phone without a Google account, but you can't use this camera without one.1 point -

They do that a lot with Skype features. The whole organization around Skype is a bit of a mess, sometimes changelogs are also different in the Skype community compared to when they post them in the release notes page (which has yet to happen for this version). Sometimes they announce features that some users have had for a long time. skype is an f'ing terrible piece of software. i use it regularly, but boy is it trash. I use it regularly too for voice calls and sometimes video, I don't mind it. The video call quality is so much better than WhatsApp etc. Just massive difference. sure, it has better video quality than whatsapp, but what a low f'ing bar. skype is slow, ugly, lacks features, on mobile is an f'ing mess and doesn't even consistently alert you to messages instead hours later giving you a message saying "you may have skype messages you haven't read" like wtf in 2021? it's a bad piece of software basically abandoned after being the the market leader. it has been rewritten so many times and with each edition performance gets worse. does it kinda work? yes. is the quality acceptable from the worlds largest software company? absolutely not. like bob said, if you want to see a video call app microsoft actually bothers with see teams.1 point -

at least devs get properly paid So do we only believe in trickle down economics when we talk about developers/publishers making more money so they can pad their wallets pay their workers? I really don't get some of the contradictory theory on this, especially when we look at good developers turning rotten like the devolution of Blizzard Games or even watching CDPR going from praised to hated for their complete incompetence. That being said, what happened to the end user getting a better experience? I don't think EGS has helped in that regard in any way, shape, or form. In fact, at the end of the day, the best thing people say about EGS is that they got free games (see comments below for example). And... despite the big fluff of this article, here are some numbers compared to last year. Their growth in users has certainly increased, but that hasn't translated directly to sales which makes me wonder about the whole sustainability of games being handed out, if nobody turns around to actually buy anything. https://i.imgur.com/8Y1j0mH.jpg" rel="external nofollow">https://i.imgur.com/8Y1j0mH.jpg" rel="external nofollow">https://i.imgur.com/8Y1j0mH.jpg it is a long term strategy, effects will be seen in multiple years our society is trash because everyone expect everything short term, only just to cash out quickly you are the definition of what's wrong with today "economics", you only see and care about your own foot If you're gonna talk trash, at least back up what you're saying. CDPR put their employees under heavy crunch to deliver a half baked product. What good was it if the company made more money selling directly, if the consumer received a bad product and the employees were worked into overtime just to get it to whatever "release" state they did? This is what I'm talking about. The idea that EGS somehow gives back to the developer is bogus, unless they're a small team that actually values their employees. And of course, the indie devs on there are handpicked to begin with. You'll never see real start-up devs like the ones behind Phasmophobia which became a huge success, partly thanks to Twitch and the ability to have an Early Access game. Hell, does EGS even offer VR support to take on devs like that? Or modding yet? Like it's cool how they offer Unreal Engine, but beyond that, there's just too many limiting factors. Anyway, I just don't buy this idea that companies making more money translates to employees making more money. It's not true with any of the big players, nor the gaming industry.1 point
