Maybe someone has been using computers since that era and just prefers the look? Its not like W8-W10 has improved anything about the menu beyond being more touch friendly. Tossing out modern hardware/software compatibility, general stability, you can install/run programs, surf the information superhighway, process words, code, listen to music and game. All the fundamentals are there. So other than stability (MS is working on that one), looks, cloud crap, touch crap and modern HW/SW compatibility, what huge leaps in usability have we witnessed since 98? There hasn't been much change because the basic formula works and the interface between man and computer hasn't changed a lot. VR/AR and neuro will likely bring about the real change once everything matures.3 points -

For me the only thing I started to hate about Android is the runaround you get now with notification preferences split between the app itself and within Android notification settings, and one app could have 20 notifications for every little thing that isn't even described in a way that most people can understand. Oh and some apps just reset the preferences with an update, so you're forever editing ****ing notifications. It is like they saw Facebooks multiple pages of settings and thought "hey now that's a great idea!" 🙄2 points -

iOS 14.5 update might let you pick a default music player
dustojnikhummer and one other reacted to RejZoR for a topic
That's entirely app fault, not Apple's fault. A lot of apps stubbornly insist on either built-in browser or Safari. That's just lazy development. Even before default browser selection was a thing, many good app devs allowed you to set any browser as default within that app.2 points -

you choose to limit yourself to such a small screen. only in the current ADD world people would want to constantly browse internet while watching something else - it is totally not healthy - but yet over stimulation is what our brain brave now. It's the same principle of using 2 monitors as display, something that has been possible for at least 25 years (I myself started 20 years ago). So your point has no relevance. Regarding the small screen, you'll be surprised by even adults that prefer to work with something at hand that has a small screen.1 point -

Bingo! Giving users a new technology or even UX concept that they don't realize they will like is one thing. NOT giving users the basic functionally or features or meeting the needs of users is just ######ing stupid. Just the crap Camera alone should have gotten someone at Microsoft punched in the dingding. Ya, I was surprised, he and Brad Sams seem to have come away with similar opinions to mine. If the software team had 'gotten' to finish their work without another another framework shift in the middle, it would be a much better device. They didn't though. They should have keep revising the hardware and just waited. The other problem is still Android. A lot of things that were planned to be implemented across the Duo and Neo devices couldn't work, as things too easily broke, were slow, or required a lot of lifting to get the same functionality on the Duo with Android. These issues also contributed to the framework change decisions in the cross platform UI concepts just released. Microsoft needs to let this device fade away, and then do it 'right' - with Microsoft/Nokia era cameras mid and high performance versions of the device, and having the OS features nailed down. They would also be far better off running Android on NT and getting the advantages of the performance and security. ** ** This is more viable than one would expect. With WM10 out of the picture, I don't think people realize how slow Android has become in comparison. There is NO REASON that running full Windows 10 ARM on a Lumia 950 should be 'lighter' and faster than Android running on that SoC or a couple of years newer SoC. But it is faster, and it is still a bit sad Microsoft rolled over and let the idiots have crap, but here we are.1 point -

Microsoft has this handy feature for their emails called aliases. Thinking you can change the alias and retain the email? Too ######en back the alias IS your email address and lose access to it if you change it. No warning period, nothing, when you contact support you cannot regain it even if you provide a bunch of informatikn proving you owned the account and made a mistake not even 5 minutes prior. No remorse. Their excuse is customer safety. BS beyond any imagination. I feel for the developer.1 point -
