  8. UK court to decide whether Uber drivers are employees

Same way reddit, snapchat, tesla all keep going, they're not really making a loss, they're just hiding money flows and profits through clever accounting techniques. No real company is going to operate for 10 years without making a single profit, it wouldn't make any sense and their investors would lose all they've put in.

  10. Facebook saw a drop in hate speech prevalence during Q4 2020

Translated - they saw a drop in what they constitute to be hate speech, not necessarily actual hate speech. I'm not a political person and nor am I "left or right" wing. I see benefits from the ideas on both sides of the spectrum. However the online social media companies seem to have a very narrow view of what they believe is and is not hate speech, particularly dependent on the political views of those who run the platforms. It frustrates me that one view is stifled over another as this is what makes people become more extreme and frustrated, leading to worse problems later on when those people end up going underground and less monitoring able to be done on them by the authorities if needed.

  11. Justice League (2017) / Snyder Cut (2021)

Just from the new trailer you can tell we're in for quite a different ride. Sure the story beats are the same but Snyders cut is beefed up to the max it looks like.

  14. UK court to decide whether Uber drivers are employees

If they're employees, then they can't work for competitors at the same time. I see a lot of cars with both Uber and Lyft signs in them. If those drivers were employees of Uber, they wouldn't be able to drive for Lyft at the same time.

  15. Intel Evo vs Apple Silicon part five: Software

That the software you need works in your M1 doesn't mean that ALL the software works, which is what the author says in the article. If you believe he is lying, prove it, instead of talking about "the typical slant in favor of the sponsor". How would I prove it lol? Show you a video of every piece of software I've owned on Intel Mac run fine on a M1?

  16. Do cables make a difference? I.E - CAT5E to CAT 7 or CAT 8

    Cat 5e is more than enough to handle gig, can even do 2.5gbs via 802.3bz Here is speed test to my nas using just cat5e cable.. $ iperf3.exe -c 192.168.10.10 Connecting to host 192.168.10.10, port 5201 [ 5] local 192.168.10.9 port 2112 connected to 192.168.10.10 port 5201 [ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate [ 5] 0.00-1.00 sec 283 MBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec [ 5] 1.00-2.00 sec 282 MBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec [ 5] 2.00-3.00 sec 283 MBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec [ 5] 3.00-4.00 sec 282 MBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec [ 5] 4.00-5.00 sec 283 MBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec [ 5] 5.00-6.00 sec 283 MBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec [ 5] 6.00-7.00 sec 283 MBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec [ 5] 7.00-8.00 sec 283 MBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec [ 5] 8.00-9.00 sec 282 MBytes 2.36 Gbits/sec [ 5] 9.00-10.00 sec 283 MBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate [ 5] 0.00-10.00 sec 2.76 GBytes 2.37 Gbits/sec sender [ 5] 0.00-10.08 sec 2.76 GBytes 2.35 Gbits/sec receiver iperf Done. You really should be able to do even 5gbps over cat5e, I just have nothing to show that in real world test.. But should work.. Cat 7 is not even a thing to be honest (there is no standard). And unless you plan on doing 40 gig sometime in the near future.. Over copper? Why? 8 makes zero sense. While you could look to using cat 6 or 6a.. There is no need if your going to be running a gig network. 5e is more than capable of supporting gig, for that matter even older cat 5 is plenty. It was part of the standard that gig could be done over cat 5.

  17. Intel Evo vs Apple Silicon part five: Software

And here I've been using my M1 Mac mini since December, with all the software I need and no hiccups. Then again, I've been invested in the macOS ecosystem for years, but even then, everything built for Intel Macs has been fine and dandy on my M1. Sounds like someone plopped a review unit in someone's laptop/incentivized a review and we've got the typical slant in favor of the sponsor.

  18. Intel Evo vs Apple Silicon part five: Software

"Oh, and if I take a video with my iPhone and want to edit it on a PC, I just AirDrop it." I get the Apple integration love, but be sure you understand normal workflows that you might not have used or noticed. I have never had to 'drop' or even touch a phone to edit a video. This is going back to WP7 and Android for several years. The idea of manually having to fiddle with transferring something like a video is crazy, and then claiming that the 'fiddle' part is better with Apple, is just weird. There are also 'manual/fiddly' options you may be over looking, with Bluetooth and WiFi dropping of media from devices goes back to the Windows 7 days. AirDrop's best feature, is Apple users all knowing about it and using it. Microsoft is bad at this, as there are tons of features they never showcase. But, that doesn't mean the technology or ease of workflow doesn't exist. With that said. Thanks for the article, it is a good take on things for readers.

  20. Google promises 100 games coming to Stadia in 2021

The recent 'troubles' have pinned this as another soon to be dead Google project, I don't see many in-the-know gamers forking over cash at this point. You ######ed up a decent idea again Google, just let it die.

You're right, the Netflix style of doing it all in one go fits better pre-pandemic when time was limited so you could take a afternoon or your day off and watch a load of stuff.

Anyone even cares? Not to mention their model is stupid. You need to re-buy whatever you already have. Or buy something from scratch on a platform that may or may not exist in the near following years. I don't think anyone asks themselves that when considering games on Steam, Origin, GOG or similar.

  25. UK court to decide whether Uber drivers are employees

If the drivers are treated as 'employees' then governments can mandate that Uber starts taxing them as such - this is what they are really after. Uber can take a drivers earnings, take off employers NI, then employees NI and income tax at full whack. They can then pay the drivers minimum wage and class any additional earnings the drivers make as a 'bonus', meaning any calculations for redundancy etc will be against minimum wage only. The IR35 / contractor industry is suffering this nonsense already with highly skilled contactors earning minimum wage plus thousands of pounds of 'bonus' each month they are in a contract. When the consultant is between contacts, the 'umbrella employer' only has to pay them minimum wage instead of a proper 'salary'. By being self employed, the driver decides who to work for, how often, and are taxed as self-employed which offers them benefits.

  26. UK court to decide whether Uber drivers are employees

Only Capitalist States of America allows essential workers to be treated like garbage, so rich people can continue to be richer as both cheer on that this is some 'Freedom from Communism' garbage. Good luck trying that BS in Europe.
