Rush Limbaugh, conservative talk radio pioneer, dead at 70
Skyfrog and 9 others reacted to 0sit0 for a topic
Well... I mean... if your contribution to society is overshadowed by the amount of racist, bigoted comments spewed over your entire career then that's on you. Maybe don't do the negative stuff and the positive stuff will be spoken about instead? Just a thought. Also respect is earned. No one like that deserves respect.10 points -

Except of course, he was. It's on the books, it's on transcripts. There's no denying it. He was a racist. He was a bigot. Your defense of the man either means you haven't ever listened to him, and you don't know what you're talking about... or you agree with his viewpoints and are "blinded". Pick one.6 points -

What he did for the broadcast industry in general will be completely sidelined by those cheering his death. Personally, I never liked him or his show but having worked for nearly a decade in commercial radio myself, I can 't help but remember how he resurrected AM radio and the contributions he made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society over the years. You can hate the man for his beliefs (and I'm sure the cheering will start any post now) but at least be respectful.6 points -

Epic files antitrust complaint against Apple in the EU over App Store policies
matthiew and 4 others reacted to John Freeman for a topic
Developers choosing Epic store exclusivity due to financial incentives from Epic is one thing. No one is forcing anyone to use Epic store to reach PC users - you can create your own store, go on Steam - whichever route makes more financial sense. Apple case would be more akin to MS forcing everyone to use Microsoft Store and fork over 30% of their revenues or get lost. Would like to see if everyone would still be as blind if this wasn't Apple.5 points -

I just hope they force Apple to open devices to allow installations form third parties as Android. This probably will force PS, Xbox and Nintendo to do the same, rather than have a monopoly over the platform. It will create a move more pro consumer4 points -

The fact was LImbaugh was a sorry excuse for a human being. Period. End of story. That has nothing to even do with his politics as there are totally fine conservatives. And yet, we're not suppose to celebrate his death? Why not? He certainly didn't show the same remorse for others that died, also from a horrible sickness. You want to talk about karma? I would still consider switching to Bitwarden... Open source, recently audited, and more reasonably priced. I personally wouldn't use a closed source security product owned by a private equity firm. I don't use open source anything, except LibreOffice. So...I'm happy for you. I suppose doing the opposite of what most security experts recommend is one way to go. Do you also use closed source encryption? LOL2 points -

The ol' free to payed switcharoo. Unless they are selling your data, anything thay is free will eventually cost money. Either the potential numbers entice them to sell their original values or promises or they need money to keep the service alive. Staying free and popular for a long time isn't sustainable. Very cool tech here and devs don't have to do anything on their end. Only reason they aren't doing this for every bc game from the start is that it sounds like a low level API change and they'll have to test it on games first to make sure they aren't losing any stability in the process.1 point -

Microsoft Authenticator adds a new password manager to its Android and iOS apps
devHead reacted to +mram for a topic
So much animosity towards MS on this. There are a bajillion (technical term!) people using Microsoft technologies, through M365 and Windows. The people and poor choices are the problem, not the technology; there's nothing inherently insecure about Microsoft. Of course there is encryption here, and the Authenticator app requires MFA. did some looking and i find no mention of end-to-end encryption. Every other password manager does it. MS...being very anti privacy doesn't do this for any of its sync related items right now. Their vague use of encryption either means its just tls or encrypted at rest which isnt good enough. Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the Microsoft Authenticator app Question "How are my passwords protected by the Authenticator app?" Answer: "Cloud and network security: Your passwords on the cloud are encrypted and decrypted only when they reach your device. Passwords are synced over an SSL-protected HTTPS connection, which ensures no attacker can eavesdrop on sensitive data when it is being synced. We also ensure we check the sanity of data being synced over network using cryptographic hashed functions (specifically, hash-based message authentication code)." Finally, your comment of "being very anti privacy doesn't do this for any of its sync related items right now" is ridiculous. Extremely. While I can't post links, there are many, many, many references out there for encryption and privacy across the entire MS cloud.1 point
