Well obviously it's because the moon doesn't exist. The lizard people in government put the holograms of the night sky in place to keep people looking up. They're from under the ground, after all. You don't want people looking there so you divert their attention elsewhere. I thought you knew this? Edit: Because I fear someone might actually be silly enough to think that what I've written here is true, it's not.6 points -

I don't know if this is a good thing or not. I drove for Uber as a side gig a few years ago. It was easy to start driving, and easy to quit. I drove whenever I wanted, for however long or short I wanted. I guess that's the pros of the current system. I can't help but wonder if forcing them to make drivers employees will spell the end of drivers like me that just needed a bit of extra money without the hassle a traditional part time job.5 points -

We're all suppose to repeat it because we told that what's happened. After all, our TVs told us right? They SHOWED us that was real lol.. Anyway, specifically the impossible "Sky Crane" and the maneuver it performs. People are getting anal swabbed for respiratory virus and still wearing masks. Aaaah. So you're in the "I do not understand it...so it must not be true" crowd. Ted Cruz ran off to Cancun to escape the disaster happening in Texas. Beta O'Rourke stays and hosts a virtual event to get people connected, fed, safe and warm. How is that not political? It really does go to show, that when the chips are down... Republicans have serious problems trying to find a spine and the balls to stand and deal with the situation. They'd rather just write legislation to give themselves and the top 1% of this country another tax break... ya know, so they have enough in the bank to leave for sunnier skies while your neighbors are fighting for their next meal. So.. again, what's so political about all that?4 points -

The moon and Mars are least in common with each other than the earth and Mars. Side note: Mars isn't "billions" of miles away. C'mon Jim, I thought you were smarter than this? The fabrication is clear. Notice how there is no reference to the moon's lunar cycle until 15,000 years ago? That's when they made it a hologram. People started to notice the sticker in the sky didn't change and they got concerned, so they made the hologram that was easier to change. And all those people that have watched these space ships lift off. It's just been a really big firework. Once it's out of view NASA know that there's no way for anyone to confirm what's happening, so they've just let it blow up while people are asleep. Then they pay actors to say that they were onboard the ships, that they went to the moon. Originally Armageddon was going to be a "real" mission, but then Bruce Willis was told he wouldn't be able to act again (y'know, since he wouldn't be able to appear in anything afterwards since he would have to pretend to be really dead) and he threatened to blow the whole thing wide open, so they released it as a film instead... Where was I going with this? Oh right! Yeah, it's all just the government trying to control you. They want you to believe their space nonsense so that you don't see what's really going on: caterpillars.3 points -

Isn't the problem that it looked like he was running off with his family rather than staying to help? I don't think anyone would have blamed him for moving his family out of the area, but he didn't mention what he was up to until he returned. Anyone with half a brain would have realised how that would look and would have announced their plan was just for their family before the media reported that he was boarding a plane. But maybe I'm expecting too much from Cruz when I expect him to have at least half a brain.3 points -

The most critical, and not very testable, part of the mission is the landing. Which, given that Mars has an atmosphere and the Moon doesn't, would have to be different - based solely on propulsion and they would have to skip parachutes altogether. It doesn't make sense to test those landing procedures on the Moon given that the Red Planet is different. Concerning the rover itself, it can be tested here on Earth, no need to go to the Moon. The rest of the post is gibberish.3 points -

goretsky and one other reacted to Rosyna for a topic
Because it’s not about resolution and is never about resolution. YouTube selects maximum bitrate based on resolution, so you’ll get a sharper image solely due to this larger bandwidth, it’s completely unrelated to down sampling. In fact, many creators will upsample 1080p content and submit that as a 4K source so they can get the higher bandwidth encoding.2 points -

I think you will find that statement is not accurate. There is no 100% consensus. " you need to accept it or be quiet" Why would you say that? Do you not believe in freedom of speech? Mankind can only progress with civilized and open debate. Don't agree with something someone has to say - show them why you don't agree. Perhaps it will get them thinking differently. "This isnt even something where it needs to be debated" Of course it does. If people do not question geopolitical / social / economic motivations of scientific studies or endeavors you can not possibly have the whole picture. Many scientists have had there careers destroyed by questioning the status quo. It is often career suicide. If it were not for some scientists throughout history throwing their careers on the line our world may not have progressed as far as it has. Bill Gates is a hypocrite - The world has to reduce it's carbon footprint, well except for me because I can afford to "offset" mine Would it not be 1000 times better if he didn't have such a huge footprint in the fist place, less wasted resources and such?2 points -

Doesn't your work (HR dept) have a way of sending them encrypted email? Is your work using just public email services? For example - at our work, via exchange. We can encrypt email to any specific person right in the system. And even if not - the email is all internal when sending to other users in the company. The email never leaves the corp system. You log into the corp system (all traffic encrypted to and from your machine to this system).. If none of that is true - I would ask your HR person how to send them encrypted emails. I have to believe they get sensitive info all the time sent to them. Or ask your IT dept about it.. They should support some secure way of getting info to the people that need to exchange such info. Salary info, Performance info, Health info, etc. etc. What company would allow such info to just be sent over public email without any form of encryption?2 points -

I've been thinking about this over the last hour or so, and a thought occurs to me. As much as I'm loathe in any way to defend Cruz, who is a complete piece of sh**... I have to ask, if any of you were in Texas right now, and had the means to take your family somewhere warmer and safer, wouldn't you immediately do so? Are we truly castigating someone for doing something we all would have done in his place? I said earlier people would remember what he did when it comes to re-election, and I stand by that. But I cannot in good conscience truly blame the man for removing his family from a bad situation. It just would have been better if he'd SENT them and remained to help sorting out the problems, as a public servant is supposed to do.2 points -

I read somewhere, someone asked Bill how he justifies his "carbon footprint" with all the private jet flying he does. He says he "offsets it". LOL, see, THIS will be how it works. The 99% will have to curtail THEIR so called carbon footprint, while the 1% will continue to live and travel however they want. All of this global warming is a bunch of crap! Just a few weeks ago, another "discovered" abandoned village was found in the Norway area when the "global warming" caused the ice to melt, revealing the settlement, which dated back hundreds of thousands of years ago. Now, that begs the question. If there were a village that supported people living there, how was it SO WARM then, without all of the industrialization hundreds of thousands of years ago? Why was the planet WARMER then, than now? Then answer is that "star" around 90 million miles away.2 points -
