  1. Politicians need to stop looking for easy answers and stop pandering. Violent computer games are sold worldwide, millions of people play them, many/most are not out carjacking. Poverty, access to firearms, low education standards, unemployment. All thing that have a much more significant impact on crime levels. Its cowardly showmanship and insulting to their constituents to simply say: Yeah its because of Fortnite.

  2. If GTA makes me good at carjackings, does that mean FIFA makes me good at football? Dang, I should have used my Freelancer skills to apply to NASA...

  3. > Apparently, similarities were observed between real-life carjacking attempts and those carried out in video games. Could that have something to do with the fact that carjackings in games are based on how you'd do it in real-life rather than the other way around? I propose we ban violent life instead.

  4. GTA taught me all I need to know about car-jacking: I just stand in the way of oncoming traffic, walk up to a vehicle and press the triangle button.

  5. USA is funny. Violence in always the fault of video games or rock music. Never the fact that you can get guns with Kinder chocolate eggs.

  6. The funniest thing about that is that Kinder eggs are banned in the USA because of the danger posed by a small plastic toy inside the egg.

  9. "The Quick System Drive Benchmark is a shorter test with a smaller set of less demanding real-world traces that is designed for smaller system drives that are unable to run the Full System Drive benchmark." So 1TB isn't enough? Sounds like a dirty trick intel are playing... like usual

  10. Makes sense. It's admirable that they wanted to fix the game. But not enough fans cared for it to begin with. Hopefully they (and EA) understand they need to focus on their core strength. EA bought a legendary single player RPG studio and made them develop a multiplayer looter shooter with light RPG elements. It's the sort of terrible business practice we can expect from EA. And ik doubtful Bioware van recover at this point but at least now they have a fighting chance.

  11. It sure sounds like this brand new GTA series of games that just came out for the first time this year and not 24 years ago must truly be responsible for the recent rise in carjackings...

  12. Then I hope these Exynos chips are designed for desktops and aren't just hand-me-downs from their mobile line. I'd love to see something that dwarfs Microsoft's SQ2 while also not costing a small fortune.

  13. Liberals are not left, they are centrist at best. And jesus christ that article is politically & economically illiterate, not that I expected much from cringe reactionary tabloid trash like "americanthinker"... which btw had to admit to spreading election lies to avoid being owned in court. Maybe they should be called "americancuck" now. Lol.

  19. This was a feature for Word on desktop, actually! I think even all the way back to Word 97? But you have to find the button now and add it to a custom group/tab on the Ribbon, Microsoft hid it away. (And it doesn't seem to work now either, I just tried it. PowerPoint throws an error.) So I'm a bit surprised that they decided to bring this onto the web.

  28. LG is now licensing its webOS smart TV platform to other brands

Probably because your TVs are from different years, so each one of them has different WebOS versions. They only launch newer versions of WebOS to the newest TV models. For instance, WebOS 4 is used on LG TVs from 2018 and 2019. WebOS 5 is used on 2020 TVs and WebOS 6 will only be available in the 2021 models.

  29. This again? I remember "movies are bad" from the turn of the century (Matrix, etc), the last "videogames are bad" craze back in the 90s, "D&D is bad" in the 80s and "hard rock is bad" in the 70s. I'm sure a couple hundred years ago somebody was pointing their fingers at those new fangled photograph things because Timmy stole a horse. People like to point fingers everywhere except where they belong.. the parents. Bad parents raise bad kids.

  30. Let's assume for a minute that video games are indeed to blame. (Okay, funny assumption, but for the sake of argument, let's assume.) You take away video games from people. What do you give them instead? What are people supposed to do with the time they previously spent playing video games? Committing crimes, perhaps? Or watching violent movies instead? When you take away something bad, you must put something good in its place instead. Otherwise, something eventually takes its place, and it might be just worse.

  35. Do it!! The more WOA on the market the better. And AMD GPU in it sounds intriguing. The one thing I don't like about the Pro X is it seems Qualcomm couldn't be bothered to include proper OpenGL support in its Windows GPU drivers (unless it's somehow a limitation of the emulation layer). AMD on the other hand already has it in their x86/x64 drivers, so would hopefully include it for ARM64 too...

  36. Ffs. I was holding on playing it till 1.2 was released. Now thats gonna be a month extra of the game just sitting in my Steam library. I might as well just refund it as I'm within the return window still, and haven't even started the game. CDPR really messed up this release, and all trust they had built up is completely gone. What a joke of a studio.

  37. The funniest thing about that is that Kinder eggs are banned in the USA because of the danger posed by a small plastic toy inside the egg. You can pretty much get kinder eggs in any store in the US http://www.todayifoundout.com/...gligent%2C%20manufacturers." rel="external nofollow">http://www.todayifoundout.com/...gligent%2C%20manufacturers. I guess all those I see in the store are just holograms? Maybe read the article? They are named similarly, but designed differently in the US. The ORIGINAL version is banned. It's actually in the last section, Bonus Facts. Bonus Facts: All is not lost for Ferrero, however, in their attempt to gain a foothold on the lucrative American confectionery market. Starting in 2018, they will be offering a variation of the Kinder Surprise in the United States. Contrary to many-a-news report, this is not actually just a Kinder Surprise with the toy packaged separately. The egg shaped packaging does indeed internally have two separated halves, one containing a toy, and the other containing the candy, but in this case, rather than a hard chocolate, the other half contains chocolate cream, a little spoon, and two wafer balls floating in the cream- so a quite different product, though still containing a toy and the packaging being roughly egg shaped. This product, of course, doesn’t get around the supposed issue of children of the particularly young persuasion misinterpreting the whole thing as something to eat, not just the chocolate part, but does get around the 1938 law. The Kinder Joy was first sold as a variation of the Kinder Surprise in markets where the chocolate egg tended to melt before finding its way into a consumer’s mouths.

  42. Gran Turismo 7 has been delayed due to COVID-19

I much prefer Forza, but calling GT subpar is idiotic. the last one is a 75 on metacritic. that's almost 20 points lower than the last forza. it's subpar. But it isn't. Do you even know the definition of subpar? "subpar definition: used to describe something that is below average, or below what is expected". It's a great game in its own right, just not as good as Forza in my view. And metacritic is such a poor choice to use. The launch version of Gran Turismo on PS4 (as reviewed) is nothing like the current build of the game.

  44. Microsoft will soon begin throttling Exchange mailboxes

Automation. Usually by accident at that volume - something generating an email for an event which wasn't ever expected to happen so frequently. Yeah but the article implies there are just lots of mailboxes that are always like this, not just slip-ups. Having seen a colleague send 5 million emails to the same user it does happen but suspect it's more for mail boxes like support@ or info@ which probably get that in medium sized companies.

  47. Because it’s not about resolution and is never about resolution. YouTube selects maximum bitrate based on resolution, so you’ll get a sharper image solely due to this larger bandwidth, it’s completely unrelated to down sampling. In fact, many creators will upsample 1080p content and submit that as a 4K source so they can get the higher bandwidth encoding.

  49. Console wars round two is here - Time to choose the finalists

Personally I'd never compare the PS2 and 360, however the 360 was the best console ever released in my opinion. It brought online gaming to the masses who we're never in to PC gaming. The 360 launched with achievements, which other platforms have since copied and XBLA brought a lot of unique games to consoles. So many games also supported 2/4 player co-op on a single console, which was great for setting up easy lan parties with two consoles / tv's. Xbox vs PS2 however, Xbox all the way simply for the homebrew scene. The games just performed better too. On the PS2 the framerate was poor on various multi platform games compared to the Xbox, game such as Need For Speed come to mind as an example.
