  1. "Not only that but parts that are heavily used, like the screen and keyboard, are magnetically attached and can be easily replaced by ordering new ones from Framework's website." It's not clear if it can be upgraded, but it can be replaced, so it's still modular.

Good. It would be nice to have the option to remove anything from the folder tree, start menu, etc. I won't complain about them killing things altogether.

  6. Politicians need to stop looking for easy answers and stop pandering. Violent computer games are sold worldwide, millions of people play them, many/most are not out carjacking. Poverty, access to firearms, low education standards, unemployment. All thing that have a much more significant impact on crime levels. Its cowardly showmanship and insulting to their constituents to simply say: Yeah its because of Fortnite.

  7. Good! Focus on making a good game first and foremost. Sick of the microtransaction cows being the focus of development.

I fly a drone and used it to take a really hi-res image of the converted warehouse I live in. It flies around a few times taking multiple photos at various angles. Great... So I download the photo and yeah it’s really detailed. But then also it delivers me a really detailed 3D model of the building, which Windows decided to store in this 3D Objects folder. Only time I ever used it and that was unwittingly!

Additionally, it should be much easier to customize the context menu. Install two or three programs and suddenly right clicking is a disaster.

  12. It's a bit confusing, but Google TV is sort of an expanded experience built on top of Android TV. It has some different UI elements and features, but I believe Google wants to update Android TV to be more like Google TV in the future.

An excellent option! Some people just don't want the smart part of the TV

  14. Macro? Yes, after all the critique aimed at micro-transactions, the leadership at EA took a long hard look in the mirror. They came to realize the issue; customers want things to be bigger and better. So from now on your dropbox is priced at a full game's price.

  19. yeah I remember them hitting too many issues with limited throughput in the small shell limiting how much it would be able to be upgraded. Hopefully that's not as much of an issue here being as there's more room to work with for a laptop sized shell.

  23. I really dont even know where to begin but you do realize, Android is specifically open enough to root by design right? The whole idea behind Android is that its entirely open. Google doesnt purposely place blocks on this.

  24. "it looks like TV sets that ship with Google TV as the built-in software experience will allow users to disable smart features completely. During the setup process, users can choose to configure the device as a basic TV" Now hold on just a minute there, that's jumping to one hell of a conclusion a bit fast, do you need to agree to an EULA before you can set this mode? Because if so, it's google, I can bet there will be something in there about them still being able to receive your data, if it has or finds an internet connection, for marketing and analytical purposes. Sure it might not enable "smart TV" features but let's not assume it disables all purposes until there's proof of that.

  26. I think the problem was EA trying to get them to make a game type they'd never done or actually had no real interest in doing. If Anthem was a true single player RPG like ME and their other bioware games, then who knows what things could have been? This craze for open world online games EA, Ubi and so on have a hardon now aren't doing any favors to the gaming industry IMO. On paper they sound solid when you run the numbers, loot boxes, microtransactions etc. Everyone wants to cash in on things like GTA Online. I honestly have no interest in these game types. I hope the next ME is once again a strong narrative driven RPG and not some shared online world looter. So do I. The online shared looters *can* be good when done right, it's a proven formula. However, it doesn't mean everyone should be making them. Leave those games to the studios who can do them justice and the others stick to what they are good at. BioWare was a great single player narrative focused dev, I just want them back.

  28. Saw it coming, standard EA protocol. Cut and run when it gets too hard. While this is good news for ME4/DA4 it doesn't mean we are out of the woods yet. If BioWare haven't sorted out their internal issues yet we could be in trouble. Personally, I'd rather EA sell BioWare to MS, I think under their leadership they could return to their former glory. Under EA they haven't exactly done great.... although to be fair BioWare is a shamble of a company right now, the influence of EA is the least of thier worries.

  30. Microsoft releases Windows 10 build 21322 with a bunch of fixes

If you are that hard up for 50mb of drive space, you have more to worry about than these Apps. Pro Tip, don't open or use them, and pretend like they don't exist. Like Magic. I agree that the disk space would be negligible. But at the same time, I've not understood why these particular tools are bundled in to the standard image. I can't imagine they are used by the majority of the userbase, or that in my years as an administrator I've ever seen anything in the 3D objects folder. That's not to say that they do not get used, but perhaps they should be "removed" from the default build, and instead included as a feature that can be enabled for those that do use them, like the RSAT currently is?

  34. Lot of what is wrong with your comment. For 1, Google is not the only company that takes months to fix issues or has issues like this. And yes, even Apple has taken months, or a year, to fix bugs. 2, a lot of Android devices are not cheap, poor quality, and on price with Apple. 3, most people do not even know or care what version of their OS is on so updates are no big deal to lots. They just care if it works and does what they need/want it to do. 4, people have had plenty of time to how you put it, lean, and Android is still on top. And for a reason. Yes, some devices are cheaper but then again, that is the point of Android. Not everyone needs a flagship device.

Good riddance as first reg tweak I use after fresh install is to delete that dumb folder. Been doing this for 5 years now. Phew. Microsoft and their bone-headed decisions of past. None of their decisions regarding Windows and Windows Phone stood the test of the time.

  41. It was inevitable. Apple's shown great confidence in ARM, and has demonstrated it a capable platform for consumer PCs. Samsung, being their biggest competitor, would of course follow. And since Qualcomm really doesn't put a lot of effort into their desktop SoCs, Samsung can quickly gain a lot of traction with little effort in this market. They've already had successful Chromebooks.

  42. Makes sense. It's admirable that they wanted to fix the game. But not enough fans cared for it to begin with. Hopefully they (and EA) understand they need to focus on their core strength. EA bought a legendary single player RPG studio and made them develop a multiplayer looter shooter with light RPG elements. It's the sort of terrible business practice we can expect from EA. And ik doubtful Bioware van recover at this point but at least now they have a fighting chance.

  44. Firefox 86.0

I gave up on FF when it removed the ability to have multiple rows of tabs (via addons like TabMixPro) back at around v56. I understand that can still be hacked but it's just too much effort and too slow and new releases of FF mean the hack needs updating. Sorry FF, you've ignored numerous requests by others to bring back this functionality. Nothing in any new version makes up for its loss. No reason to stay with you.

  49. > Apparently, similarities were observed between real-life carjacking attempts and those carried out in video games. Could that have something to do with the fact that carjackings in games are based on how you'd do it in real-life rather than the other way around? I propose we ban violent life instead.
