I guess I'm one of the few who actually use the folder. Whenever I model something for 3D printing, or download something from Thingiverse, 3d Objects is where it goes. Once the model is sliced ready to print, the gcode file goes in there too. It's my understanding the actual folder isn't going, just the 'front and center' link 'This PC'.4 points -

Hello, The founders of this company are: • Nirav Patel, who worked at Apple and founded Oculus • Chris Lombardozzi, who worked at Shore Power and Xiamen ENRY • Kieran Larent, who also worked at Oculus and at Cobalt Digital • Po Yu Chen, who worked at Asus, Lenovo, HTC, Compal, and MSI • Kate Chouinard, who worked at Sphero and Dell • Lauren Mitchell, who also worked at Sphero • Adila Lai, who worked at Google, HPE, Mitsui, NXP and P&G • Jehan Suleman, who worked at MakerBot and those are just a few whose employment history I could figure out via LinkedIn and personal blogs. From looking through them, I see a lot of supply chain experience with China, Taiwan and the US, manufacturing, designing and even some founders of successful companies. Will they possibly have some manufacturing problems along the way? Possibly. But they have also assembled a group of folks who have been involved in the manufacture of other laptops, VR headsets, robots, servers, monitors, as well as consumer goods, to name a few things. So, it pretty much sounds like they've assembled a good team to deal with those issues. I did note that they currently have eight open positions listed on their website. Perhaps you should apply for one so you can bring your rich supply chain experience and knowledge of driving a company to their organization to prevent the apocalyptic vision you have described. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky3 points -

This ^ You need to remember Neowin tailors to the basic consumer bitches, I don't know why I keep giving this site the benefit of the doubt. Half the comments are from people who have zero idea about.... anything. It's like the idiot above who said remove the OneDrive client, really?? Guess he doesn't work for a business who is heavily invested in Azure\365. Guess they've never heard of redirecting known folders, or the benefits of other features available in the client. Neowin's favourite word in click bait articles is "finally". FINALLY blah blah.... no... Most of you can just blow me. Go away. Anyone with half a brain would realize OneDrive can be downloaded, and should be if the current version is out of date. Which, in case it’s not obvious, is exactly what happens when apps like that are built into the OS. So why not remove it so someone who needs it grabs the latest version and not some crusty price of crap? People who don’t want it won’t have it and people who need it will have an up-to-date version. It’s not rocket science.3 points -

Explorer seems to be the one thing that everyone uses on a constant, daily basis. Yet it seems that MS has had little to do with over the years since 3.1, barely making relevant changes only to appease the looks of the corresponding OS. Explorer needs a serious overhaul. We need to have more control over what's in it. What links we want to have. Don't double up on folder icons just because a USB device is plugged in. Leave folder options alone just because you rename the folder. (renaming causes Explorer to refresh the icons back to the default setting of "large icons") Be able to change folder column option defaults to others in the list. Get rid of 3D Objects (as seen here). Get rid of OneDrive (if you're not using it). Get rid of Quick Access (if you're not using it). Add Copy To/Move To options to the Desktop without having to use a reg script. (all other folders within Explore have this, the actual desktop does not) Fix the dark mode ribbon issues where some areas turn black on Explorer windows in the background. Delete / Add options for right click menu items without a reg script...or going thru the Users or ProgramData folders. And... for the love of all EVIL.... TABS TABS TABS!!!!! without a third party add-on. Just the tip of ideas I run into on using Explorer on a daily basis.2 points -

If you are in a large city in America, your best bet is to visit Microsoft's own store. I don't know whether Samsung stores carry Microsoft stuff, but you could give it a shot too. Best Buy is fine, but Walmart and Target are probably the last places I'd go to check out any electronics. Most Microsoft retail stores closed down in many cities last year. The USA is more than just New York City and I won't include Redmond as a large city. There is a Samsung store that I've seen, but haven't gone inside as I'm not as interested in the Samsung brand, but I'll give it a shot sometime. While Walmart and Target aren't dedicated electronics/appliance stores, there is still a convenience factor as well as a possibility for competitive pricing, which both offer often on Apple and other products from time to time.1 point -

The first thing it does on a clean profile is eat up disk usage and RAM because the included version is from 2016. Why not add it to the Microsoft store instead? Also not every company needs Azure/365 or bullied by Microsoft into using it. Where I work we use Citrix ShareFile, perpetual Office, and we do user folder redirection on our own Windows servers. We have zero need for Azure or 365. Clearly didn't understand the point re: user redirection. No ###### you can have it on your own file servers, there's many benefits to redirecting them to OneDrive, one being real time auto-save with Office. Disk usage, RAM?! Are you serious? On any modern PC it works fine, you should look at configuring your group policies to manage the client instead of leaving it unmanaged.1 point -

It’s not rocket science. 1. The OneDrive NGSC auto-updates on first login. 2. It's possible to update the OneDrive client during OSD using a task sequence, or even rolling it into your base install.wim (install.wim\windows\system32\onedrivesetup.exe). On that note, in the TS I deploy the following step is ran - c:\windows\system32\onedrivesetup.exe /allusers. This avoids having multiple copies stored in user profiles. 3. Learn to manage the client, plenty of documentation out there. So...extra work to deal with a preinstalled program. Makes sense. Refer to point 1....it auto-updates itself....1 point -

yeah I remember them hitting too many issues with limited throughput in the small shell limiting how much it would be able to be upgraded. Hopefully that's not as much of an issue here being as there's more room to work with for a laptop sized shell. yeah I agree to that, but I actually see the Laptop segment going to a totally non-modular approach of late, my older Dell Studio 1555 was easier to take apart and I could Upgrade RAM, Drives, Change screen, Battery all by myself... The newer laptops seem to be more focused on making things thinner and lighter(or to achieve forced obsolescence) and not so easy to repair, even to the point of having Soldered RAM on board.….which is a big meh.1 point -

It was inevitable. Apple's shown great confidence in ARM, and has demonstrated it a capable platform for consumer PCs. Samsung, being their biggest competitor, would of course follow. And since Qualcomm really doesn't put a lot of effort into their desktop SoCs, Samsung can quickly gain a lot of traction with little effort in this market. They've already had successful Chromebooks.1 point -
