Well it did land and that was the hard part.. What happens 5 minutes later doesn't matter Tell that to the astronauts if they where on board onboard. Poor analogy. The rocket will be dramatically different when it's ready for human flights. The point of these tests to to beat the hell out of it and figure out what it takes to make it fail. A fully successful launch and landing doesn't prove a whole lot, and they learned a great deal about what happens with a hard landing.5 points -

It's amazing how some only see the boom.. SpaceX pretty much has shown they can launch, flip, descent and land a 15 story, 30 feet wide building. This is a prototype vehicle with prototype engines and remember it is just 18 months ago that they did the first hop, the progress is insane. SpaceX is way ahead of what most who understand the complexity of this expected. The boom was just a bonus really and all it did was give SpaceX more data to work towards getting a vehicle that is reliable and safe to be used to get human kind to the Moon and Mars. This test flight was a major achievement and a big step forwards towards that goal.. The shot of the vehicle doing the landing maneuver was majestic and straight out of a SciFi movie.. except it was real..4 points -

I don't care if it exploded afterwards. They got that thing to land in one piece. A 9 meter wide, 55 meter high rocket. Again, a 9 meter wide, 55 meter high rocket. Shot it up to 10km, flipped it horizontal, got it to glide back and landed the thing next to the 'bullseye' on the landing pad. Anyone who makes fun of this has no clue about the achievement of this event.3 points -

Resetting via that bootcd is what i recommend. I used it a lot. Is this a local account or a Microsoft account? If local you'll be fine just use the bootcd. If it's a Microsoft account you'll have to do a password reset. If it's a local account and you don't want to download the boot cd but have a windows 10 install cd handy.. you can do this2 points -
On-premises Exchange servers are under attack from a state-sponsored group
n_K and one other reacted to scorp508 for a topic
I was reading yesterday something completely unrelated but it mentioned that companies will generally still have one on-premesis exchange server even with office 365 and that was to do with account syncronisation? I didn't fully grasp it because I thought the whole point of azure AD was to allow that so I'm really not sure why you would also need an exchange service... ADC basically syncs an on-prem directory up to Azure AD. Some orgs keep an on premise environment in hybrid for security reasons, testing, internal relays, etc... It is required to keep at least one on-premises Exchange server if you are in a hybrid deployment. This is due to Active Directory being the authoritative directory for objects which have been sync'd to AAD and you must manage some attribute via Exchange management tools on-premises. There is currently no supported way to have no on-premises Exchange server if you're hybrid.2 points -

Nintendo reportedly preparing a new Switch model with a 7-inch OLED display
Brandon H reacted to Circaflex for a topic
Why would a handheld PC make handheld consoles irrelevant? Nintendo isn't going to suddenly start putting Mario and Zelda on PC, nor would those franchises suddenly start losing fans just because Dell crammed Steam into a handheld. Nintendo literally has to do nothing but announce a Pokemon game or Yo-kai Watch game and they'll move hardware. There could be a convention in the US for only Zelda and it would sell out every year because those fans are crazy. Technically, Nintendo games are already on the PC by emulations, even for the Nintendo Switch. That's what I love about Nintendo, because they stay behind the curve, it becomes a lot easier to emulate their platforms. Have you actually tried it? The experience is far from pleasant.1 point -

The only problem with "Snapdragon Sound" is the "Snapdragon" part of it. So many proprietary audio standards, and if your hardware doesn't agree then you end up on the crappy SBC codec. It's time for the Bluetooth group to replace or improve SBC.1 point -

there are ways to view the password but it would be entering gray territory I don't think we could allow discussion of on these forums as it would be exploiting the security measures on the device. as an alternate suggestion there are legal/legit ways to reset the password Hiren's BootCD is a good method to reset it as long as the disk isn't encrypted with BitLocker or anything https://www.top-password.com/knowledge/reset-windows-10-password-with-hirens-bootcd.html1 point -

Runtime inspection of XLM macros is now available in Microsoft Excel
MS Bob 11 reacted to techfreak for a topic
Microsoft has not invested much in VBA. Current versions of Office have used the same VBA editor since Office 2000. It is also not possible to define a different editor in settings. The newer (2013 and later) cross-platform (desktop, mobile, and web) add-in model is not accessible to business professionals since we can't record our code in a macro, and it is based on JavaScript, which is more difficult to learn. I think there is value in revamping the entire macro and Office add-in automation system.1 point -

SpaceX Super Heavy and Starship updates
bguy_1986 reacted to DocM for a topic
Looked like some legs didn't lock when they deployed, causing it to land hard and stand on a rear fin. Then a leak (lines? tank?) caused the post-landing fire which a while later blew the tanks. These were Legs v1.0 with improvements in SN-11, and further upgrades should be in in SN-15. SN's 12-14 have been scrapped as SN-15 makes the early vehicle design obsolete. SN-11 should roll out soon, with SN-15 stacking in the High Bay. This is 'hardware rich development,' which is a bit like Whack-a-Mole; build, launch, break, fix, repeat.1 point -

I would be surprised if something like that was still the case for the Go 2 but I don't own one... IDK, but my Surface Go 2 is on 20H2 (19042.804) and is working just fine. Myself too, just forwarded this to our IT department, thanks for the heads up! Your IT department needs you to forward security alerts to them? I would rather someone reaches out with information instead of assuming it's already known. I've sent plenty of things to our security teams. It could be helpful to them, it could just start a chat, and they could teach me something about how they were already prepared or how they countered the possible attack. There are various security mailing lists the appropriate people get in our IT department. They are aware of these things before Neowin reports them. I don't email the print shop when see a sale on colored paper at Office Max. Well I guess I just enjoy discussing these things with my security team more then.1 point -

How to reset a forgotten Windows 8 /10 account password
xrobwx71 reacted to +Warwagon for a topic
How to reset a forgotten Windows 8 / 10 account password If you buy a computer or are working a computer with windows 8 you might find it harder to do simple tasks because of the UEFI. Today I got a computer in my office where all off the sudden he could not log onto his Windows 8 account, he must have somehow changed the windows 8 logon password and had no idea what the new password was. Because of the UEFI bios, a lot of the bootable utilities I would use to reset the password couldn?t see the hard drive, including bartpe. The bios also had very little settings. Upon looking online there was a neat little password reset hack for Windows 8 Boot off a Windows 8 DVD / USB Select Repair Your Computer Select Troubleshoot ? refresh or reset your pc or use advanced tools Select Advanced options Select command prompt Once the command prompt appears navigate to the c:\windows\system32 Rename utilman.exe to anything else (ren utilman.exe utilman2.exe) Rename cmd.exe to utilman.exe (ren cmd.exe utilman.exe) Now restart the computer. Once inside windows at the password box, click the little icon in the bottom left of your screen. At this point a command prompt will open up. At the command prompt type Net user (Then your username) * Make sure there is a space between your username and the *. Then press enter. It will now ask you to enter a new password for your account. You have to type it twice. That?s it! You should now be able to access the account again! Once you are back into your account you will want to go back to c:\windows\system32 and rename those files back to what they should be. ... Accounts which are tied to a Microsoft Account. I had a customers machine in my office which he had forgotten the password. He also somehow signed it up with a bogus gmail address. So there was no address to send a reset code to. I was about ready to reinstall when I wondered if I would be able to activate the administrator account using the command prompt above. So on that command prompt window above I typed in net user administrator /active:yes it said the command had been entered successfully. I then restarted the computer and upon reboot, the administrator account was an option. Once logged in I was able to access the account, backup his file and then delete the account off the computer and create a new one. I had to use the command prompt to create a new user. So I ran utilman (cmd was still renamed) ... and typed net user username password /ADD example net user owner 1234 /add Now I logged into the admin account and set that account up from standard to Admin and removed the password.1 point
