  1. Personally, I think doing this is going to be necessary sooner or later... The internet has become something it was never meant to be, and most of the fault lies in social media. Too many morons have a voice now and they have no filter on their brains.

  2. To be honest, all the government should penalize this. The only reason bitcoin is this high today is due to pumping from some billionaires. This miners are not only going to waste electricity at absurd scale, they will also create absurd amount of e-waste. There are better options like steller or any non minanable crypto, i don't see any problem with them.

  4. The appeal to tradition in a nutshell: It was ok 67 years ago, it must be ok today. Therefore: It was ok to have characters randomly shooting guns when angry then, it's ok to have that now. It was ok to racially stereotype people 100 years ago, it is ok to do that now. It was ok to own people 250 years ago, it is ok to do that now. You ever think that maybe, just maybe it wasn't okay back then? Maybe It was a cheap laugh for a cartoon that was done without the authors thinking of the long term ramifications of their actions? Was it funny? Sure. Did I grow up with it? Sure. Is it something that I would put in a remake series now? Absolutely not. Would I stop adults from being able to watch (or show) the originals? Never.

Rather than the child stumbling across the film without the parents knowing, the parents now have to decide if they want their child to watch the film, and they have to decide if they want to talk to their child about the representations within the film.

  11. Where do you think all of this started? It didn't start when people first got cell phones. Hell.. it didn't start when people were living it up in Yahoo chat. And what you're governing over in a text forum, are those still crying over things they cannot change because THEY ARE THE REASON things are changing. You are causing the very change you're complaining about here in these forums.. and then taking it to Twitter and Facebook, joining the countless, faceless mob wanting the world to be more inclusive, yet cry over spilt milk. No one is going to change the past. You can't do that... it's not possible. Yet here we are, listening to those crying because they've been told people are doing just that. No. Companies are doing what they can with their OWN property to help where they can, in an ever changing, chaotic disaster of a planet with billions of screaming voices... all shouting to get things spinning in their own direction. If Disney wants to warn young viewers they may experience scenes of racism, or possible bigotry in their earliest of films, humorous or not.. they have a right to do so. If the publishers and owners of Dr. Seuss want to remove books with blackface characters, they have the right to do so. (There wasn't even this much heat when they tried to remove Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer / Uncle Tom's Cabin from libraries) If the govt of state or fed levels want to remove racist statues and put them in museums, they have the right to do so. Despite the world changing around us, it falls on the parents of their children to guide them... not industry. Not politics. I didn't say to not have discussions here, I clearly stated this simple text: "Why are you crying in a forum that no one can make a difference in?" If you think this is crazy... step back for a moment. When you've been quiet long enough, you see the hypocrisy of the term "snowflake". So... when you get time, maybe people here can answer the question: "How do I make the world a better place, yet keep all those things: racism, sexism, bigotry alive and well at the same time?"

  32. There is absolutely no censorship here. There is simply putting the onus of decision making onto those who are capable of making said decision. By your own comments you suggest that people should have known that racism was part of those eras - sorry, kids don’t. As for what is forced upon you: do you have Disney+? If you do then I assume you have an adult profile? So literally nothing changes for you. Why are you acting like such a snowflake/victim over something that changes nothing for you?

  34. uTorrent 3.5.5 Build 45952

I'm still using the old version as it is still way better than qBittorent or other alternative. Some private tracker may banned the old version but won't affect me as I never use private tracker. To my knowledge, at least some private trackers still allow the older versions. so the older builds (v2.2.1 build 25302 was from May 18th 2011 from what 'oldversion.com' says and says that particular build was the last/newest version of v2.2.1) should still be safe to use. I am not using Windows so uTorrent is not much of a option for me (I am using Deluge v2.0.3 with libtorrent 1.1.13.0 on Mint v20.1-Cinnamon). but if I was on Windows I would be using either uTorrent v2.2.1 build 25302 or qBittorrent. one thing I remember the older version of uTorrent being quite good with is it's very light on RAM usage (Deluge v2.0.3 is a bit of a RAM hog as time passes etc (but I got 16GB of RAM, so it's still passable) :( ).

  35. I think the issue is this change makes it so parents don't have to "choose". They can continue to ignore what thier kids are doing on the service because by default these "controversial" movies won't be there. It also means the answer is to get mad at the service for making certain things available rather than getting involved in what thier kids are consuming.

Those still using uTorrent are probably better off with the old... 'uTorrent v2.2.1 build 25302'. it will likely 'just work' without the junk in newer versions. but if one prefers a alternative to uTorrent, try... qBittorrent.

  40. Is 5ghz wi-fi just as good as a wired internet connection?

Thanks, everyone. I was looking through Monoprice and they have some really nice, inexpensive 50+ feet ethernet cables that are ultra slim. So I'll go ahead and move to the computer to the new location and use wireless for now. Then I'll probably order the long, slim cables from Monoprice and once those arrive, I'll run the long cable around the room and go back to wired again.

  44. Is 5ghz wi-fi just as good as a wired internet connection?

Says who? Have you actually tested that? While yes 5ghz wifi can do 155mbps real world - it still depends on the actual connection rate, the interface that might be present. Just because your PC support say 802.11n at 5ghz doesn't actually mean it can do 155mbps real world. Is your router AC and your client AC? What is the actual router? What is the actual wifi card in the PC? 1 stream of 802.11n via 5ghz for example using 40mhz channels has a PHY of only 150mbps - real world your going to be more like 75mbps - rough guesstimate for wifi speeds is to take the actual phy your connected at and /2 it.. You can expect to see 50 to 60% of the connection rate or PHY.. And just because your receive is at PHY X, your transmit might be way lower than that.. So while you might get 75mbps real world down, maybe your upload is only like 10 or something.. Even if your AC - if your only talking 1 stream - which many wifi cards might only be.. A common connection rate of 1 stream with 40mhz channels is only 200.. So your still below your 155 real world speed you think you might get. And again rx is different than tx when it comes to phy.. I would highly suggest you actually test before you think your going to see 155 in real world speeds.. As others have mentioned - almost ALWAYS a wire is better.. Now with the new wifi 6 (ax) depending - sure you could get some great speeds, even above gig ethernet. But its not going to be as stable, it will fluctuate and latency will be higher. How many other devices will you have on the wifi network, how many other wifi networks around you.. All can have effect on the overall performance. And guess what 2.5, and 5gbps is quite easy to do with wire now as well.. Or even 10ge.. Cost is coming down for sure in the 2.5 gbps switches - there are a few on the market now for $100 price point.. Wifi is best for mobile devices.. And yeah sure any even some what modern equipment should be able to get good speeds - yes above 155 real world for sure.. I see 400mbps real world no problem with wifi.. On the devices that support multiple stream connections and AC.. If you want to move your PC.. and its hard to run a wire - then by all means do that if that is what you want. But don't be sure your going to see speed XYZ via wifi just because its using 5ghz.. Is it N, is it AC is it AX? How many streams can the router do, how many streams can the card do? If your AC even with 1 you should be ok.. If you can do 80mhz channels.. But if your in a high noise area? Maybe not? This is capable of 433 mbps PHY connection.. So you should be able to see your 155 with such a connection. You sure do not need to move your modem to connect a wire.. You have no way to run a wire along the edges of the walls. Or better yet actually run wire in the walls. Do you have coax connections in the different rooms? If so you could leverage a moca setup and get gig wired speeds without much trouble.. If you have attic or basement or crawl space - running ethernet is not that hard.. A couple of hours even with no experience should be possible.. Cable is cheap.. The adapters to make it look nice on the wall are cheap.. its easy enough to cut some holes in drywall and put in a nice plate for a jack.. They even sell some where you could just use a pre done cable of enough length.. You can get a 100ft run of cat 5e for a few bucks.. Unless the device is actually mobile - if its possible to run a wire, it is almost always the better choice. Device you put a wire also don't use up your wifi - so leaves more bandwidth for your actual mobile devices.. Since wifi is a shared medium.. All that being said - you for sure can do real world 155mbps over wifi.. So I would just temp move your PC to where you want to move it and test it.. If you see the speeds over wifi your happy with.. Then your good and just use wifi.. Common speeds for wifi these days in in the 200 mbps range for sure.. If your wifi card is recent, and your router is recent.. This is 2 stream with 40mhz channels using AC.. Which is PHY of 400mbps..

  45. Is 5ghz wi-fi just as good as a wired internet connection?

First, it's 5 GHz wifi, please don't call it 5G wifi. Because 5G is a different thing. Wired is always better, faster, more reliable. But that being said, in wifi, the PHY speed and signal strength are two factors that determine how good or bad it is. Do a speed test on both wired and 5 GHz wireless if your client PHY speed is decent - it may be good enough for your internet speed requirements - may offer the same speed via wired too. Not for LAN/WLAN transfers where wired is miles ahead. Read this long but very interesting page to learn more about Wifi: https://www.duckware.com/tech/wifi-in-the-us.html
