Instagram announces new efforts to protect kids from adults

Skyrim, Fallout 4, and more get FPS Boost on Xbox Series X|S, nearly doubling frame rates
dustojnikhummer and 3 others reacted to George P for a topic
These boosts are done on the console, not the game. Sony can put in whatever effort they want but it looks like they are more interested in selling you a remaster of the games you own rather than improving them. One could say that it's better to have great PS5 remakes like Deamon Souls than no games at all. The only thing that XBX has is the Game Pass library with the already existing list of Xbox games. And now the huge announcement is "new old" games from Bethesda!? That's why PS5 is selling more than XBX even in the US market. There's a big list of PS4 games enhanced on PS5 as well, running on higher resolutions or with more or stable FPS count. One could also say that it's better to get free enhancements to games you already own than to have to buy a remaster just for better performance and maybe a higher resolution. I like how you're towing the "no games" line to. Even though many of those games are finding their way to new gamers now via game pass, but it's ok, they're old, so that doesn't count. But selling you a old game with a new paint job for full price totally counts as a huge win for gamers all over the world! Huzza!4 points -
Intel details its 11th-gen 'Rocket Lake' processors with new core architecture

At 14nm, I have to say that this is great. Just imagine when they catch up in size (nm), Intel will blow AMD out of the water. *When* Let’s see where AMD is then. We all know Intel has the capability, but their constant trouble in accomplishing the goal and pushing back die shrinkage by YEARS questions their actual competence and ability.3 points -

Intel details its 11th-gen 'Rocket Lake' processors with new core architecture
NewGuy123 and one other reacted to sphbecker for a topic
Hoping these are better than the AnnanndTech reviews shows. Lots of improvements here, but unfortunately most of it is just catching up to what AMD released 1-2 years ago. If performance is actually worse than 10th gen, these are not going to be exciting to enthusiasts. Still, nice to finally get dedicated PCIe lanes to the SSD on business systems, yes, AMD had that all the way back with the first Ryzen release, but we all know business computers never have those chips.2 points -

Correct I have an affiliation: I am a backer since the first year, got hundreds hours of entertainment for less than 50$. You may have noticed SQ42+SC are ambitious (hence the support for a growing number of individual) and that releasing a game because a date is the worth thing to do. Fallout 76 a copy/past of Fallout 4 is total crap. Anthen, super hyped, done by a multi-Billions $ company... removed from the store for ever. CP2077, released as done... require at least a year an half of serious patch plus free DLC to be what it was supposed to be. While playing SC, backers do also play others games. Better take tehe required time to deliver a game rather than duplicate terrible behavior of Publishers.1 point -

Current gen 7c performance is... not great. It's not horrible but for some reason Microsoft has decided to use Intel for low tier (like Surface Go with Pentium) for now. 7c is comparable performance with reduced power usage and heat. I hope they move the Surface Go line to 7c eventually, especially now that x64 emulation is coming to Windows. Maybe that's what they were waiting for. Didn't want another "Surface isn't compatible with real Windows stuff" moment.1 point -

IMO, SC is certainly worth the $45 entry fee as-is, yes. The ship that comes with it is perfectly usable to get going and start making money which you can then use to buy pretty much everything else in game. SC is still very much an Alpha though so things can and will break. And I expect the game to be in Alpha for several years more. thanks very much. I'll hold off until the major bugs are sorted then. It sounds like a fun game/simulator the more I look into it, but bugs.... bug me1 point -

Star Citizen crowd-funding breezes past $350 million

CIG keep gathering cash, more every year, simply because they do offer a unique experience to gamer, now in Alpha state. For sure it is not for everyone but also a good sign for official release, with way more players eager to play the final version. CIG is also the single company offering to everyone the possibility to test the latest version of SC several weeks per year for free, so each one can decide whether or not they want to join now or support a game with no competition what so ever. True in 2020 and before, even more in 2021 with twice the contents, 3 more new gameplay and core tech implementation compared to the two last years! All for 45$ as all flyable ships can be bought in game with credits. Meanwhile, Publishers keep delivering the same re-skinned gameyear after year, or to deliver totally crap unfinished game (Fallout76), removed them from store (Anthem) or released a year or two before completion ( CP2077). Do not forget either more remaster of older game. Ambition and novelty are not on the table at all. Publishers care about quick profit, not ambition toward gamer community. By the way CP2077 took 8 years from a well established studio with all up-to-date pipelines and hundreds of devs at day one, for a game which is a fraction of ambition of SC+SQ42. Don't look further why CIG keep gathering more New backers every quarter1 point -

Intel Evo vs Apple Silicon part eight: Conclusion
JesConradsen reacted to Closed account for a topic
lol GREAT SATIRE let me know when i can run full excel, word, rotate the screen, attach/detach a keyboard, and use a pen to mark up some notes. Using ANY mac feels like going back in time 10 years. the hardware hasn't evolved over the last decade, it's just gotten faster. I'll stick with my surface pros, since they're literally the only devices which can do all my work. I'd rather not be one of those idiots wandering around with a mac AND an ipad to do the same job my SPX does (while costing and weighing far less). Macs are dinosaurs, derekaw. If you prefer a cheaper slower machine with not the best battery life then you should get that machine :-) Seriously, at some point soon an ARM Mac will run windows faster and for longer under emulation and on battery than any bendy, keyboard detaching tablet capable Intel-based laptop ever could. It MIGHT run it faster, but why do i care? the spx runs edge, word, excel, and onenote extremely well. there would be marginal to nonexistent gains from a faster machine. However, it'll still physically be able to do a ton of things that a mac just can't, and since apple will continue down the road of copying Microsoft (as apple has been doing like crazy) then before long you'll be singing praises of a "bendy, keyboard detaching tablet" i, and most people, don't need faster. we need more capable. those aren't the same thing. Arm macs might be faster, but they're way less capable.1 point -

Spot-on! That or have someone (more) knowledgable about Apple products do the review/comparison. Sadly, they don't exist. Apple's policy puts a lot of emphasis on forming fan followings. You are either with Apple or not. There is no gray area, no impartial people. Yea...I'm really not sure what people want from me here. I feel like if I'm not saying that Apple Silicon isn't God's gift to the computing industry and is better than everything else in every possible way, then clearly I must be biased. As I mentioned, my overall finding was that I loved using the MacBook Pro, but felt that it was a real shame that there were too many limitations to ever consider it as a daily driver. So for something that I can't consider as a daily driver, I'm supposed to be praising it? The conclusion is to wait until the next generation when Apple has this stuff worked out, and that's somehow not good enough. Honestly, I was offered this hardware again, no matter who it's from, I wouldn't accept the project. It's not worth reading comments who aren't even remotely interested in discussing the differences between the products, but instead just want to bash you for not being an Apple fanboy, and it's not worth being accused of being paid off by Intel. Although it's easy to tell who has no clue what's going on by seeing people accuse writers of being paid off. You put a lot of effort into this project and I, for one, appreciate it. I think the only thing you did wrong was mistakenly using the word "inbox" when you meant "built-in". 😉 But on the whole, you tried your best to represent a neutral point of view. If the world can't see it, then, screw the world.1 point -
