  1. After a 5-year battle, Uber recognises drivers as employees

Uber didn't agree, they were forced to. Don't give credit where no credit is due.

Yep, exactly like Apple was when they did the Ads. Except intel isn't flat out lying to people, so that is new.

  9. Windows 10 build 21337 is out with a bunch of new features

It's an Insider Preview, 'Captain Hilarious'. If you don't want bugs, stick with the regular builds. I wasn't able to print for several days using a regular build last week. Last week, you said you were on ChromeOS. You have zero credibility.

  10. Seems pretty desperate, the mac is grey... And? The windows laptop is black, why is the colour of the shell important? What kind of comparison is that?

  11. Epic is still only in this for their money. Was never about the consumer as Apple and Google has now proven.

  12. I don't care how accurate the ads are or how desperate Intel are. I just enjoy them and it's nice to see a geeky company making fun of the "lifestyle and fashion" company as Intel's CEO put it. (e.g. Apple are never gonna give us non-soldered SSD in ARM MacBooks now). Intel should focus on such actual strengths of x86 platform. Back in the Vista days, Apple spread quite a lot of FUD with these ads and then after Windows 7 RTM, the I'm a PC ads were out and the rest was history. Apple was begging Microsoft to stop those I'm a PC ads as Windows 7 blew away Mac sales then.

  13. The desperation is clear. I'd love to see some AMD commercials just to help bolster their own name and knock Intel down a peg so people quit assuming that a powerful PC means going with Intel. Clearly, AMD and Apple have proven otherwise...

  21. It is inline with what such items have cost in the past. Keep in mind that Flight Simulator isn't exactly a game. Sure, some people enjoy playing it, but a plane as detailed as this one isn't meant for someone who just wants a differently flavor of plane for the day, there will be free and nearly free add-ons to cover that need. This is primarily meant for people learning to fly the plane in real life, so the level of effort and detail is extremely high, and the cost needed to be high to cover it. Just my two cents, it isn't like I represent the company who makes it or anything.

  22. Instagram announces new efforts to protect kids from adults

Or just force children off the platform. It makes zero sense with the amount of sexual content what kids are "missing out on" by not being member to these social circles. It's not like that'll stop kids. They'll lie about their ages and join. And we're then back to square 1. I'm still amazed I see toddlers running around with iPhones. My kid will not have a smartphone until they're able to get a job and buy one, until then it's a feature phone with locked down billing plans to prevent overages. There's the iPad, which uses my account, and is of course setup in a way to where I have full control over what is used on that tablet, and when. Parents need to take some responsibility, sure kids will try and circumvent restrictions, but if you're smart enough and know the products they're using, they'll have a hard time getting past your blocks.

You mean "Chrome", not "Google"... unless you're talking about Google employees swearing sporadically while using text fields.

  28. Good. Of course Epic is going to fight it, since it doesn't benefit them, but that much was a given. At least they can quit touting the phone "we care about the little guy" which is about as believable as Google's "do no evil". This is the same company that went about settling a class-action lawsuit on lootboxes by paying out with "$78 million in digital goods", which is about as bogus as you can get. https://arstechnica.com/gaming...ment-with-in-game-currency/

  29. Instagram announces new efforts to protect kids from adults

Why don't they just force all child accounts to be paired with a parent's account. Then set up a parental settings option where the parent has to approve friend requests.

  30. At 14nm, I have to say that this is great. Just imagine when they catch up in size (nm), Intel will blow AMD out of the water. *When* Let’s see where AMD is then. We all know Intel has the capability, but their constant trouble in accomplishing the goal and pushing back die shrinkage by YEARS questions their actual competence and ability.

The new file explorer option should be the other way around. Compact mode should be on by default and non dense layout as option.

Guys, for all the power users out there, Microsoft has been building this tool for a long time, called PowerToys, you should definitely check it out. https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/tag/v0.33.1 It installs on Windows and gives it additional super powers . FancyZones, a dynamic color picker, and much more. Definitely check it out. I don't understand why MS never built it inside Windows. Currently running it on 20H2 and works amazingly well!

  38. After a 5-year battle, Uber recognises drivers as employees

They are not classed as employees, but as workers. This is different in U.K. law. This means Uber will take all their income, and tax it as an employee, so in reality, the worker gets less. Their holiday pay will be accrued and deducted from their income. Umbrella companies do the same. This is not progress but a govt tax grab.

  39. Sky re-brands NOW TV and introduces NOW Membership

And it's an additional cost. As it is on Sky itself still 🤯 Utterly ridiculous. That said, Sky's HD is nothing to write home about - sure it's 1080 but the compression is just horrific! Funnily enough I was stood right next to the TV this morning and couldn’t believe the up close picture quality of BBC Breakfast.

  40. After a 5-year battle, Uber recognises drivers as employees

i dont really have an opinion on whether i agree w/ the ruling or not. that said, Uber has been hemorrhaging money for years and, afaik, never turned a profit. Theyre just going to end up increasing the cost of fares for the end user.

  41. I fear that all the current overpriced sales due to unavailable stock sends a message to manufacturers stating "This is what people are prepared to pay" Sad but true, the average consumer won't be able to afford the luxury of a decent gaming pc in the future.
