Windows 10X reportedly delayed once again
Emon and 6 others reacted to seeprime for a topic
You want to kill a product you haven't seen yet and don't have to use anyway? Product I have seen, tried and don't want Windows to go that way. It's hard to imagine that there are still people at Microsoft that haven't learned the Windows RT, 10 S, and S mode, which also didn't let users run what they wanted (at least with S mode you can upgrade to full Windows 10). Why they keep trying to develop a half-baked Chromebook "killer" seems like insanity, when Windows 10 with a little more love and QA attention, so far fewer random bugs (like this months printing bug) are seen. I've had many customers that have grown to dislike Windows 10 due to having been hit with one or more random bugs that wound up costing them money to have fixed.7 points -

Lack of Win32 will make it a failure on day one. We have a track record of pseudo-Windows such as Windows RT and Windows S mode failing because of lack of Win32. Just too many apps are used especially on home workers PCs. Apple had to add Rosetta for m1 macs, Chromebooks had to add Android and Linux support. Microsoft will have to add their compatibility layer too.4 points -

Looks pretty, for sure. I'm worried though that it'll suffer from the same issues as AoE3, where 3D looks better but isn't as usable as an isometric view. We'll see, though. Oh yes the original AOE/ROR and AOK/AOC had their own magic. Very much easy to play.1 point -

Bruinator reacted to +BudMan for a topic
What wifi router/ap are you using? First things first - when you plug in a wire to your router what do you get? Is this device something you bought, supplied by the isp? AC is never going to see gig.. AX ok maybe.. but not AC, not from couple of streams you could get from some usb adapter.. So from that link you posted, model number JW-812AC shows 1300, which is adding the 2.4 and the 5.. Which you can not use together.. So they list 5ghz at 867 PHY.. which is 2 streams 80 vht.. So if your router or AP can do that.. Say 50% real world of that so your in the 400ish range at best. But I find it hard to believe some $10 usb dongle is going to get that to be honest.. And again comes down to what your router or AP can actually do as well.. What is the model number(s) of the hardware you are using to supply wifi, and whatever that is never going to be able to exceed what you can get via a wire.. Maybe the router your using can not even do gig? If you have gig internet, the only way your going to get close to that via wireless is have a AX, both on your Router/AP side and on the client side..1 point -
Nvidia DLSS will double the performance in System Shock remake and The Fabled Woods
hellowalkman reacted to Jub for a topic
Although I can understand where you're coming from, ray-tracing is probably the most exciting development in the field in a generation. That said, we can realistically not take advantage of ray-tracing today without DLSS, so... there's that. I hope they keep refining DLSS, and don't abandon it, because it's incredible. There's currently too much ghosting and blurriness for my liking, but it's still a worthwhile trade-off to enjoy "RTX" effects.1 point -
