Microsoft releases additional updates to resolve some more printer problems
devHead and 10 others reacted to Jumping Jacinta for a topic
Murphy's Law hey Microsoft. I really don't like defending MS but let's be honest. While definitely embarrassing for MS this type of issue is inevitable from time to time given the millions of different set ups and user generated changes to settings. Apple and ChromeOS should thank their lucky stars that they don't have the dog's breakfast of configurations to deal with that MS has to deal with.11 points -

They are not lucky, they anticipated these issues and built a clean ecosystem It's messy work vs carefully designed work Microsoft is showing it again, windows team is POORLY managed And the head is clueless and blind What? No... The difference is Apple and Google control the HARDWARE on those platforms. That was not an option for Microsoft in the 80's when Windows came on the scene.4 points -

Oh absolutely. The company should not even need to THINK about protecting itself in any way. Its just that today parents seem to need an excuse for either bad parenting or their child turning out bad regardless of their upbringing. I class myself as a good parent, yet if my son turned out to be a rapist, I wouldn't blame myself as I have taught him right from wrong. I also wouldn't blame cartoons etc. IMO there is no one to blame but himself. He knew right from wrong and chose the wrong path, those are on his back and he has to deal with the fallout from that, not me and certainly not a company who makes cartoons! The thing that I also find crazy is that in SOME cases where the parents ARE to blame, for example if they simply haven't taught their child right from wrong (the type that would hit a teacher because they gave their son bad grades etc.), those are the ones that also go on to blame everything and society for their Childs issues later in life, instead of admitting the fault lays firmly with themselves.2 points -

"should help reach a younger audience" - Nope...not with everything confusing as to what games are on what streaming services. People will just pirate the streams as normal - This is a dumb move by the NFL and shows they are just trying to copy their existing TV deals to streaming, but it won't translate like that. If they really wanted a "revolutionary deal", they should have just created an NFL add-on for ALL streaming services and you just added it on-top of YOUR streaming service. But no, they are still going the anti-consumer route.2 points -

You want to kill a product you haven't seen yet and don't have to use anyway? Product I have seen, tried and don't want Windows to go that way. It's hard to imagine that there are still people at Microsoft that haven't learned the Windows RT, 10 S, and S mode, which also didn't let users run what they wanted (at least with S mode you can upgrade to full Windows 10). Why they keep trying to develop a half-baked Chromebook "killer" seems like insanity, when Windows 10 with a little more love and QA attention, so far fewer random bugs (like this months printing bug) are seen. I've had many customers that have grown to dislike Windows 10 due to having been hit with one or more random bugs that wound up costing them money to have fixed. 10x will join this list soon "Windows RT, 10 S, and S mode" why dont they just concentrate on windows. remove all duplicate app to begin with and unify the design language. some of the icons in windows 10 are still from windows 72 points -

Microsoft releases additional updates to resolve some more printer problems
Fleet Command reacted to adrynalyne for a topic
Really? Everyone knows! It's a cumulative update, so it contains every update Microsoft has ever released to this date. Ten years ago, we used to refer to this kind of update as "service pack". and those cumulative updates are great, but can't windows 10 be smart enough to see that you already have all the updates and just give you a micro update? People already complain that it takes too long to install CUs. You now want MS to build a scanning utility that will determine what is eligible and not, and cherry pick what's needed only? There would be tons of complaints. I guess MS could go the way of Linux and offer 234982348792348921389712390123 individual updates. Well, how about a version number check. If you have 19042.867 (example) then you have the last cumulative update installed. Then have this small update. If you have anything but that number you get cumulative. That is a really, really bad idea. A version number should be informative, but not authoritative for differential updates.1 point -

That's the thing. I would have no problem with my children watching this. They know right from wrong and they are mentally mature enough to understand that cartoons are slapstick and entertainment value only. They have been taught from an early age the right and wrongs of interaction of any type with other people and no cartoon violence will suddenly make them believe its normal to behave that way.1 point -

I wonder how many people read and understood what is happening here. Initially I was jumping on the "OMG THEY ARE CHANGING THE PAST" brigade, but after reading again, I see they are simply moving the content and allowing parents to make the call on weather their child gets to watch it. This makes sense as in todays world companies are taken to court for silly things and their child watching Dumbo, when the parent feels it was inappropriate could easily end up in a legal case. This way those who are happy for their child to watch it can let them and those who are unhappy can simply not allow them to watch it. Takes the onus of "blame" away from the company and firmly in to the hands of the parents, which is sensible. If they were outright saying they were removing the content and never letting anyone watch it again, that would be a different thing altogether, but this seems like a sensible move to protect the company from future legal proceedings.1 point -

cork1958 reacted to Mike Steel for a topic
Thousands of MS programmers have been working for months on a...version number change? And this is the same company that expects us to "love Windows"? Win10 hasn't really changed at all since 1511, after that just patches. Windows 10 was supposed to be a OS as a service, with fast updates. Instead we got an ugly colorless stangnant OS with buggy patches that usually fix one thing partly and then break two new things.1 point -

Justice League (2017) / Snyder Cut (2021)
+Dick Montage reacted to FloatingFatMan for a topic
Apparently it's something to do with IMAX formatting, which is a poor excuse IMO, especially as the trailers were widescreen. Anyway, my take on it. He definitely improved on the original, but a polished turd is still a turd, sorry. It flowed reasonably well, but the end scenes just don't really make any sense. They really should have just eliminated the ruined Earth dream sequences completely (they made even LESS sense than the original cut), and the final bit with the additional character who I shall not mention because spoilers was just... very badly shoehorned in and made bugger all sense to the narrative... Best part of the whole movie is a LOT more backstory for Cyborg. That was neat. All in all, the Snyder Cut moved my rating of Justice League from 5/10 for the original cut, to 7 out of 10. Also, to add... Being in the UK the only way to watch this legally was on Sky Cinema, so I subbed up to NowTV (thankfully on a 7 day trial), and at 7am this morning, I was greeted with "Sorry, but the scheduled movie has been replaced with (something else that's a pile of hot stinky poo)" and they showed some crappy Christmas romcom instead... Needless to say I was apoplectic with rage! It took about 90 minutes for NowTV to have a streamable version available and THAT was rather pixelated from compression artefacts in places... Not exactly the best streaming experience I've had... Should have given it to Netflix.1 point -
