  3. What a fanboy. When its apple you'd be up in arms over it. There's no excuse for selling last gen hardware at current gen prices, which they'll do. Surface Duo is a good example of that. Feels like MS doesn't care about AMD.

  4. MS wants discord for 2 reasons. 1. To keep it off of other clouds and have it on Azure. 2. A ready to go and well known cross-platform chat service that they can tie to Xbox for players not only on consoles but with game pass, pc and mobile. Both are valid reasons and together they make business sense. Besides, I think discord will be left to operate as it has just under MS like Github, LinkedIn etc. I see tighter Xbox network integration but nothing much else will change.

  5. Honestly unsure about this one... Discord is one of those apps that's great for a while, then isn't. i.e. it gets replaced by the next fad that does something ever so slightly different. This is a lot of money to pay for a service that is subject to the whims of a fairly laissez-faire market.

Feels like MS doesn't care about AMD. First off, I don't care what Apple does, so I'm indifferent towards them. Second, the moment you decided to label me as a fanboy means I can't take anything you say serious at this point. You guys seem to think hardware is somehow designed, tested, manufactured and shipped at the drop of a hat. As far as prices go, don't buy it, it's really that simple. I don't know how MS feels about AMD, they used to be intel only, the fact they're going to offer more AMD models now than ever before paints a different picture to me.

  11. Microsoft reportedly plans to close Discord acquisition by next month

You are looking at 2013 Microsoft, not at 2020 Microsoft (yes I'm aware). Mixer was shut down because it was a ghost town. No streamers, no viewers. The technology is not dead. What do you think Microsoft built xCloud on? Skype died because Microsoft let them do whatever they want.

  19. The AMD Ryzen 7 APU powering the Surface Laptop 4 may indeed be a last-gen chip

Again, you do know that Microsoft helped AMD with the mobile 4000 and 5000 processors? Do you think they dislike AMD? Then explain Xbox.

  20. The AMD Ryzen 7 APU powering the Surface Laptop 4 may indeed be a last-gen chip

I would be shocked if this was their intent, remember, a large chunk of the speed improvements in 4000 and 5000 come from Microsoft. Even the 5000 desktop's main IPC benefits came from work with Microsoft.

  21. 6 hours battery life, what do you expect? This would need a good strong 2.4GHz Wifi signal in order to work, no matter the deal ended already but what do you really expect for that price? Maybe if they had just gone with FullHD and not 4K UHD they might have been able to provide more battery life and a better wifi aerial, idk. Something to work? You're the one promoting this and putting your name to it, not me. Likewise - you should justify the reasons, not me. Do you do anything other than complain all the time? You mentioned yourself that the Amazon reviews aren't great. There's no issue with him summarizing the reviews here for those of us who don't want to have to read them ourselves to make a quick final decision. I agree, but I also pointed out that there is a satisfaction guarantee with free returns. The poor reviews mainly consist of people complaining about the wifi connection, not the picture quality so maybe it is their weak signal? But people who expect the best should also be prepared to pay what the best costs Ahahahaha I've actually been noticing his name now in article comments since this exchange and never mind, I now second this. "Do you do anything other than complain all the time?"

  25. The AMD Ryzen 7 APU powering the Surface Laptop 4 may indeed be a last-gen chip

I could get over the last-gen Ryzen on this, but not having 32GB RAM in the AMD option is a show stopper for me. May look at the Intel one, we'll see.

  26. What are you playing?

hahaha - so true, i cannot believe so many people buy early access - i tried it, and it is just not worth it, i would rather wait and see the final reviews, and then pay more. same reason i stopped using Kickstarter, as originally it was 75% success, but now it is a freaking gamble. they final product is either delayed for years and by that time someone in china makes a similar version for much cheaper. or it is just not the product they originally described at all. no more falling for this crap.

  29. Yeah, I think we'll have to wait and see. There is definitely some virtue in being as established as Discord is, and on such a large userbase. My friends and I are trying to switch to Guilded, but there are just so many little things that Discord already has perfected that keep us coming back to it. Now if Microsoft can do what they've done with GitHub and make some of the paid features free, it could pull a lot of people even further in IMO.

  31. They had several vehicles stolen in this area (KC, MO), so it makes sense to verify the drivers, which would stop this. Also reducing insurance claims and lost items. Theoretically keeping costs down and prices lower. As far as privacy, it's not any different that being in a cubicle with a camera. They are at work and should be working. Not to mention distracted driving being a huge issue nowadays, as well. It's not a privacy issue since they're aren't or shouldn't be doing "private things". It's a job. Min of you fail to look at the bigger picture here Semi truck driver don't need this as they got on board GPS Tracker and Auto Theft lockdown and this is only going make the problem become worse for delivery driver as he or she will be force at gun point in stead of the criminal fleeing with vehicle so theory is kind all ready flawed. What? If don't get it Dick that not my problem I have no idea what you are attempting to say. Your language is very much your problem. 32. People will moan about this for sure but it's not like you just take the CPU or in this case the SoC and slap it in your laptop and call it a day. There's a good deal of tweaking and testing for the right design to keep performance and thermals where you want them, specially for these thin ultrabooks. Doing these midgen refreshes while sticking to the current design is a good way to match up future new devices with new designs and new hardware. Besides it sounds like this is a tweaked/OCd 4000 line, so that's something at least. The gap between this and the newer 5000 should be smaller.

This is really great. Anything would have been great compared to that listless MetroUI. Just waiting for tiles to disappear completely. For those who don't want to enroll in Insider Program but still want to try out the new build, https://m.majorgeeks.com/files...s/offlineinsiderenroll.html Enroll to Dev Channel, reboot and run Windows Update. If you don't like the build or Store Games like Forza Horizon 4 are not launching, revert back.

  49. Microsoft Garage introduces a new Journal app to rethink inking

Ya, cause Apple never saw the original Journal or used OneNote in a page context. Or used WordXP with Tablet Extensions from 2002. Apple Notes were originally a direct rip off of OneNote, and you are going to pull a couple of features from other Microsoft note applications 20 years old and imply Microsoft copied from Apple? So Microsoft copied from Apple the features Apple copied from Microsoft? FFS Really?

  50. Microsoft Garage introduces a new Journal app to rethink inking

Microsoft first introduced inking with Microsoft Tablet PC in 2002. Note-shaped pages were already part of Microsoft Outlook. By the time Apple Notes came out, we already had Sticky Notes from Windows Vista, not to mention OneNote in Microsoft Office. Apple fans are famous for throwing unkind accusations like this. These accusations have never gone near a court or a judge because even Apple doesn't think they have any substance. And nobody even mentions Forget-Me-Not, a sticky note app for Windows 95 that a fame-less developer released in 1996 for $10.
