  3. What a fanboy. When its apple you'd be up in arms over it. There's no excuse for selling last gen hardware at current gen prices, which they'll do. Surface Duo is a good example of that. Feels like MS doesn't care about AMD.

  4. MS wants discord for 2 reasons. 1. To keep it off of other clouds and have it on Azure. 2. A ready to go and well known cross-platform chat service that they can tie to Xbox for players not only on consoles but with game pass, pc and mobile. Both are valid reasons and together they make business sense. Besides, I think discord will be left to operate as it has just under MS like Github, LinkedIn etc. I see tighter Xbox network integration but nothing much else will change.

  5. Honestly unsure about this one... Discord is one of those apps that's great for a while, then isn't. i.e. it gets replaced by the next fad that does something ever so slightly different. This is a lot of money to pay for a service that is subject to the whims of a fairly laissez-faire market.

Feels like MS doesn't care about AMD. First off, I don't care what Apple does, so I'm indifferent towards them. Second, the moment you decided to label me as a fanboy means I can't take anything you say serious at this point. You guys seem to think hardware is somehow designed, tested, manufactured and shipped at the drop of a hat. As far as prices go, don't buy it, it's really that simple. I don't know how MS feels about AMD, they used to be intel only, the fact they're going to offer more AMD models now than ever before paints a different picture to me.

  11. Microsoft reportedly plans to close Discord acquisition by next month

You are looking at 2013 Microsoft, not at 2020 Microsoft (yes I'm aware). Mixer was shut down because it was a ghost town. No streamers, no viewers. The technology is not dead. What do you think Microsoft built xCloud on? Skype died because Microsoft let them do whatever they want.

  23. You saw what they did with IMs a decade ago. Well windows messenger was a decade ago, that was followed by windows messenger, that was followed by skype, that was followed by lynx which is now being followed with teams. These programs either got bloated, had stupid UI decision changes or had useful features removed. Right now in teams, they've removed the ability to full-screen a screen sharing session, yes, an incredibly useful basic feature that was always in it has been removed. And you just debunked the whole issue. This is not Balmer's Microsoft. This is Nadella and Spencer's Microsoft. Lync was never good in the first place, Skype died because it did not change, it did not evolve. Are you actually smoking crack? Skype's direction changed vastly after microsoft took it over, it's unrecognisable from what it was. There was an announcement thread which was posted on here on the microsoft blog whereby it was 10 pages of comments, 10 pages of negative comments, quite a lot criticising skype's new 'SCRUM' system whereby they're meant to please stakeholders i.e. people using the application and all they did was annoy people. They locked that thread with a nonsense excuse about getting hate messages, they did not get hate messages, that was the most pathetic excuse to stop feedback I've seen from microsoft to this date.

  27. Yeah, I think we'll have to wait and see. There is definitely some virtue in being as established as Discord is, and on such a large userbase. My friends and I are trying to switch to Guilded, but there are just so many little things that Discord already has perfected that keep us coming back to it. Now if Microsoft can do what they've done with GitHub and make some of the paid features free, it could pull a lot of people even further in IMO.

I'll wait for product reviews and testing before commenting too much on the quality of NZXT products, but their recent issues with the H1 riser debacle, Z series AIO pumps, and their lack of customer focus don't give me high hopes for a quality engineered B550 offering.

  36. Solar Power finally kicked off today.

No batteries.. Grid tied.. Yeah if grid goes down - I am down.. Since solar kicks off when grid is missing. To do the whole battery thing, they are not cheap.. In a perfect world sure.. I would do battery system, so at night your pulling off your battery vs from the grid. And yeah if grid goes down, you still would have power.. You would need system that is over sized for your consumption in such a scenario I do believe.. Because you need to be able to put excess into the battery during the day and then pull it out overnight. Because of size of roof, stuff on roof. Dish, etc. Just not able to put enough panels up to total cover my consumption anyway. Without using the north side of the house - and then you loose efficiency .. System only sized for 8Mhw a year, while 2 year average I do 11 Mhw.. And while stuck home, and now working form home prob full time.. Yeah that consumption is only going to go up. While system does produce enough to be able to charge battery most days. Total system output for the year is not enough to cover my total yearly consumption.. Freaking snowy IL And rain, clouds, etc. While I would love to produce enough to cover all my consumption.. And plenty of battery to store up for night and rainy days, etc. Just not something that was cost effective for my scenario - that could for sure be different for many people depending on their overall consumption, their geographic location but also the orientation of their house and roofing to be able to deploy the panels.. But yeah solar is just slick tech for sure - and yeah would really be nice to be completely able to provide power if grid was completely offline.. In case of complete collapse of infrastructure, say the zombie apocalypse or something - I would think prob could rig up something to have power during the day Also laws and regulations are different all over - for example her in IL.. You can not put in a system that produces more than 110% of your previous consumption numbers I do believe.. I am really curious how the tech will change and the laws as well 10 some years from now.. Be it this was a good financial decision in the long term, time will only tell.. Its quite possible with more an more solar - the electric company may actually end up lowering their rates.. And then 10 years from now might be paying more for the lease then what would be if just pulling from the grid.. Either way - its fun, and tech is slick.. And at least this first year I did save some money

This is really great. Anything would have been great compared to that listless MetroUI. Just waiting for tiles to disappear completely. For those who don't want to enroll in Insider Program but still want to try out the new build, https://m.majorgeeks.com/files...s/offlineinsiderenroll.html Enroll to Dev Channel, reboot and run Windows Update. If you don't like the build or Store Games like Forza Horizon 4 are not launching, revert back.

  49. Microsoft Garage introduces a new Journal app to rethink inking

Ya, cause Apple never saw the original Journal or used OneNote in a page context. Or used WordXP with Tablet Extensions from 2002. Apple Notes were originally a direct rip off of OneNote, and you are going to pull a couple of features from other Microsoft note applications 20 years old and imply Microsoft copied from Apple? So Microsoft copied from Apple the features Apple copied from Microsoft? FFS Really?

  50. Microsoft Garage introduces a new Journal app to rethink inking

Microsoft first introduced inking with Microsoft Tablet PC in 2002. Note-shaped pages were already part of Microsoft Outlook. By the time Apple Notes came out, we already had Sticky Notes from Windows Vista, not to mention OneNote in Microsoft Office. Apple fans are famous for throwing unkind accusations like this. These accusations have never gone near a court or a judge because even Apple doesn't think they have any substance. And nobody even mentions Forget-Me-Not, a sticky note app for Windows 95 that a fame-less developer released in 1996 for $10.
