The glasses are even missing their arms 🤔 That's because apple haven't invented them yet, but when they do it will be innovative and cost £999 each.

Lol, "just a browser tab", like modern web browser aren't by far the most successful method of cross platform application development that has ever existed. Is VSCode "just a browser tab" to you too?

  5. Apple is launching its independent repair program worldwide

    > In order to qualify, they must also agree to allow an Apple-certified technician to do the repairs. So absolutely nothing will change. People like Louis Rossmann will still not be able to just buy the parts they need Sure, you can become an IRRP, but as long as the AASP fixes the thing itself.

  6. Really? This is awesome. Speaks well of the scope of WinUI if relatively low level apps like those are able to use it. How are these new WinUI versions distributed though? So far, you can't do unpackaged apps, so I'm guessing it's through the Store? I wonder if they'll overhaul WinDbg Preview (Store version) again with WinUI this time.

Ummmm A PWA should have less overhead than using the website in the browser and sometimes even using the app. Regardless, what ancient machine are you using that you are worried about the "overheard" of a PWA or the browser?

  11. Apple is set to announce iOS 15 and more on June 7

People keep saying how new OS makes it slower. Ever thought it's just developers cramming more junk and being sloppy because they are spoiled by performance and capacity of new hardware? Why else Android phones need freaking 12GB of RAM ? For what? Most desktop systems still have 8GB. Yet stupid phones that barely do any multitasking need 12GB? And with so much RAM and so many cores that are fast, why bother optimizing, just throw more RAM at the problem. And since people continue using same apps that are becoming fatter and sloppier, it seems like OS is getting slower. Where in fact it's the apps running on it. It's a fake perception by users.

At that point, they might as well declare those repair shops Apple authorized... They are still required to let only an Apple authorized technician perform the repairs.

  24. Eh, in part a different breed. I'm speaking to myself here, too, but I feel like those of us who spend our time sitting here reading tech blogs and arguing about petty crap in the comments section are hardly the same type of people who have an interest in actually doing this sort of thing. Can agree with this sentiment. I'm no adrenaline junky, but in situations like this, you do everything you can to prepare. If something screws up otherwise, at least you can say you went out doing what you love. Hell, I get more anxiety just making sure I'm on time to the airport for example, than I do worrying about the plane crashing, turbulence, and whatnot. Whatever happens will happen. 🤷‍♂️

  26. Apple is set to announce iOS 15 and more on June 7

Well, that kindof makes sense. New software will always be heavier. But there's a very fine line between planned obsolescence and actual software just getting more complex... Based on Apple's track record, it seems likely they are doing a little of both. I used an iPhone 7 up until a few months ago. I will say that its performance was very different than when it was new. I can't say for sure it was caused by iOS updates, but by the end, I would have situations where the phone would take up to 1 second to open the message app after pressing on a notification. May not sound like much, but when it is all day long it is very noticeable.

  27. Sorry but what are you attempting to say me a few post back ?? Seriously, if you are going to argue with me that your "language is just fine" and that I'm the one that "doesn't get it", then this is ongoing hilarity! You made some really weird point that makes very little sense because of how you've made it. If you can't make it properly, then please - do give it a rest! Is it really just that to far above you head to under stand with vehicles stolen this is only going make the problem only become worse if they use biometric and cameras data for all Amazon US delivery driver as he or she may be force at gun point in stead of the criminal just fleeing with vehicle so this theory is kind all ready flawed right from the get go if they add this BS this putting there employees in more danger in long. As for tachograph is no diff then today GPS tracking which all ready in many delivery truck and today USA Big Rig have onboard electronic truck driver log and it rec everything and even put the truck in limp mode if driver is driving many hour just like when buying used car at car lots that has GPS trucking and you butt in to my reply to farmeunit which has nothing to with you, so if don't stand that sorry but that not my problem just get over it. You know, I think you just don’t care enough to make your posts readable. So I just won’t try. Do you enjoy wasting your time posting things people won’t read?

No lingering effects....and the only real update to my last post was that I started feeling better that night and felt normal the next day. So basically for me. First dose: Slight headache that evening ... sore arm. Second dose: Headache the evening of the first day (Tues) with occasional shivers and joint pain which persisted through the next day (Wed). Started feeling better Wed evening and felt fine on Thurs.

Uh, I might have some office anger issues .. LOL

  36. They had several vehicles stolen in this area (KC, MO), so it makes sense to verify the drivers, which would stop this. Also reducing insurance claims and lost items. Theoretically keeping costs down and prices lower. As far as privacy, it's not any different that being in a cubicle with a camera. They are at work and should be working. Not to mention distracted driving being a huge issue nowadays, as well. It's not a privacy issue since they're aren't or shouldn't be doing "private things". It's a job. Min of you fail to look at the bigger picture here Semi truck driver don't need this as they got on board GPS Tracker and Auto Theft lockdown and this is only going make the problem become worse for delivery driver as he or she will be force at gun point in stead of the criminal fleeing with vehicle so theory is kind all ready flawed. What? If don't get it Dick that not my problem I have no idea what you are attempting to say. Your language is very much your problem.

  37. Windows 10 is getting all-new icons in the File Explorer

Well, these folders will feel a bit alien at first but hard to tell whether they're worse... I'm raised with yellow folders though...! Otherwise I like how they're turning them head on to the viewer. That will help them with making them stand out better. For example, on the recycle bin, half the space for the recycle symbol is wasted when turning it 45 degrees and making a corner face the viewer, and now they can also make the LED light on the drive look more prominent which might help tell it apart from other devices on a quick glance. They've also managed to do this without making them overly dull, like 2D dull, as in the flat monochrome Metro icons. Looks like a good compromise, actually.

Don't worry, they'll change this again by the time it goes live. 'Member the first set of new Windows 10 icons? https://www.neowin.net/news/wi...pdated-icons-in-this-build/ ? They thankfully updated them a little later https://www.neowin.net/news/mi...shows-off-entirely-new-set/ . Some of the new ones (like the Recycle Bin) I'm fine with, but those special folders, while I get the idea of, just...no. Additionally, while they were adding enormous amounts of padding everywhere, how on earth did they miss the one between the 'This PC' icon and text, in File Explorer's address bar? They have ok padding for the search icon which is literally a few pixels to the right.

Ah... Microsoft and Icons. It's just like Apple and Emojis. Hope we'll see more compelling visual changes down the road. I say that "Bleach White" or "Jet Black" File Explorer is in a more dire need for an overhaul than those icons they have been experimenting with. That is if we are only talking about aesthetics here.

  40. I mean, we had to implement timeclocks with fingerprints mostly because people were taking long lunches or doing personal errands throughout the day and having people clock in and out for them. I hated implementing the systems, just as I'm sure they hated using it, but they wouldn't have had to do that if it wasn't for abuse of the systems to begin with. We had this too at my work (DHL), people would be late all the time so they would phone others to punch them in on time while they were running late. Now we have biometrics but still no good as peoples fingers might not scan properly so most are setup with employee ID.

  45. Microsoft is in talks to acquire Discord for more than $10 Billion

Microsoft are pro-privacy in general. What? They have telemetry in everything that cannot be turned off. There's no end to end encryption in ANY of it either. How is that pro privacy? lol Get news about MS from other sources that Neowin. What? You think machine data anonymized is a violation of Privacy? People need to really learn about telemetry and stop buying the story Google was pushing about Windows 10 'telemetry' . Using that basic level of understanding conflating telemetry and user data/privacy is dangerous. Example: Google reading your GDrive or Gmail and using it for their own gain is NOT the same as collecting Freaking bug reports. The only 'user' telemetry is opt in for handwriting, voice, etc, just like it was in Vista. The difference with Windows 10 - Google was trying to get people to think MS was as ######ed up as they are, and it just has never been true. Microsoft has a ton of faults, but reading and using your data or violating your privacy is not one. They are the only large tech company that continues to fight for user privacy in the US courts, often against companies like AT&T or Google.

  49. Favorite Windows OS version

Windows 7 was my favourite windows. It just worked, it made sense to me, and I truly enjoyed it. Windows 10 is making me consider a mac. It's a bloody mess, breaks all the time. I'm not doing anything differently. That said, since the poll left a few out, I'll rate them based on many criteria (nostalgia, usability, function, excitement), as an overall, of only the versions I've extensively used:- 1: Windows 95 (My first true experience, it was amazing) 2: Windows 7 (The absolute best windows) 3: Windows XP (the longest lasting heavy hitter, with powerful memories) 4: Windows 98 (It worked) 5: Windows 10 (It's better than the ones lower than it, at least) 6: Windows 8.1 (Just better 8 ) 7: Windows 8 (I hated it) 8: Windows ME (I hated it a lot) 9: Windows Vista (I immensely hated it) 10: Windows 3.1 (Sure I used this a lot, but I was very young and didn't care about computers at that time)
