Covid was literally the number 3 cause of death in the US last year. Stop being ridiculous. That is ridiculous... if you did research during that time you would know that "Died of covid" and "died with covid" were often used interchangeably. There are many cases that hit the news of people who were hit by a car or shot and so on and still considered covid related as the cause of death. That's one of the practices that has changed which significantly decreased the death rate figures from a year ago. The media usually only mentions the covid cases now because the deaths have been so low2 points -

The plural of sheep, is sheep...I digress, do you know anyone who actually had pretty bad covid? The hospital wards overflowing with patients wasn`t enough to show you how serious this virus was! If it had been left to it`s own devices pretty much every country would have quickly ran out of ICU beds... There are a number of countries and states that never enacted considerable covid restrictions or have since removed restrictions such as lockdowns, mask mandates, curfews, shutting down businesses, etc. (more common now) and didn't have a significant amount Excess Deaths Associated with COVID-19 that other locations with restrictions have claimed to have had. Over the past year there has been enough evidence being published to support the removal of covid restrictions because the risk is far lower than it appears. Perhaps you watch too much fear mongering news and don't read enough into what's actually happening. Perhaps I actually have first hand knowledge of how this virus can affect people, and I`m not just talking about death! You believe whatever you want, just don`t come saying I`ve been swayed by "fearmongering" or not kept abreast of what`s been happening. Seen many x-ray/CT images of people lungs with covid/post covid? It`s not just about stoping people from dying, it`s about long term health as well... People have the choice to take precautions and to reduce exposure and now more people are having the choice to not take those precautions and resections (freedom and rights?). If people want to wear 2 masks, get a vaccine that wears off in x months time and still doesn't prevent people from getting covid and spreading it then that is their choice. I know older and obese people have a higher risk, so they should have the choice to stay home, etc.. I know many people (including myself) who've had covid and recovered and they should also have the same choices to stay home or to go out and not wear a mask, etc. BTW there are many examples of the news "fearmongering" such as saying hospital wards were overflowing with patients when most were filming the dancing nurse videos or were just over exaggerating. Ignorance at its finest. It’s not over exaggerating, I am talking firsthand with nurses who see the hospitals overflowing. Oh the irony... That's Ignorance for only considering your opinion and those experiences. 1. "fearmongering" is part of the problem because too many people went to the hospital because they were scared of dying, even though they really didn't need to be there and the hospitals eventually told them to go home. That has caused moments of unnecessary stress and disruptions in the hospitals. 2. California ICU’s run at 87% full every year regardless. 3. Toronto (aka Ontario's hot spot) Went into lockdown because the fear of overwhelming ICU capacity. In reality the ICU occupancy is 80%, same as the Provincial Occupancy Rate and 10% below the stated goal of <90%! 4. There are many other examples such as the USNS Comfort ship with 1,000 beds located in NYC that sat nearly empty, but was brought in that the fear that covid was "overwhelming the hospitals".1 point -

Any intelligent reasoning behind this? That's promoting an ideology that is not necessary, is usually done for the wrong reasons, and is potentially harmful to others. I find it obnoxious that some represent themselves like this to feel proud, and to reaffirm their values and their self-concept as a good citizen. It's quite unnecessary but its a way to win social acceptance. Reminds me of those people who volunteer just to post pictures on social media of them helping others, they can't see through their own bs.1 point -

LG is reportedly leaving the smartphone business after failing to sell it
+E.Worm Jimmy reacted to Eric Biran for a topic
I think a huge part of the problem is that they spend an expansive part of the development on something that adds zero value to the phone--and probably makes it worth LESS to consumers: Custom locked versions of Android, with bloatware and preloaded apps. Just run pure Android and simplify everything. If they want something custom, like say, a camera app that can access specific cams on that phone, then make that a separate app in the store. Otherwise, all phones are basically the same nearly-full screen, 2+:1 ratio candybar with a couple of buttons for volume and power on the side. They use much the same processors at a given price point, RAM, etc. It would be nice to see some more innovation, which I guess foldable phones are bringing, but at eye-watering prices. Personally, I prioritize camera performance, so I go for phones with better resolution/quality, longer zoom, good macro performance, focus performance, low-light sensitivity, color accuracy, etc. I'd like to some day see a phone with variable zoom levels, not just a few fixed zoom cams. I also miss the shutter button from my Lumia phones. I'd like to see that come back.1 point -

The assumption that serious news outlets would partake in something like that seems unjustified. April Fools' Day is a terrible holiday. April Fools' isn't a "holiday", it's a bit of lighthearted fun. Fun isn't exactly the word I'd use to describe most of what comes from April 1, but it can be done right. Fake news wouldn't fall under that banner, though. You must have been living under a rock... even mainstream news contains April Fools' jokes. I'm not saying that it doesn't happen, I'm saying it shouldn't happen and we shouldn't have such low expectations from outlets. Dude, it's like 1/2 a day a year. It's no biggie!1 point -

We need someone to step up and shake up the hold MS has on the PC OS market. Chrome OS is too basic, Linux varies too wildly to be standardized, and Apple is too busy forcing their hardware down your throat to have access to their OS. If a real competitor stepped up, MS might change their tune. the problem is we're too deep at this point. it would be the WP situation all over again; people wouldn't accept a new system because there's no software support and there wouldn't be any software support because devs don't want to get on board as they can't be assured it will succeed and so goes the circle1 point
