  1. What Do You Put in Your Pockets?

Sensory distraction (I'm not sure if that's the correct term). Bumping into someone can take their attention away from the feeling of the wallet being lifted. Add an extra step of replacing the wallet with something else to give you more time to get away:

  5. What Do You Put in Your Pockets?

It depends on what I wearing and the time of year but its my keys, wallet, and phone of course. Nothing goes in my back pockets so the phone can be a merry go around. Colder weather I have a jacket and warmer weather often wearing cargo pants so not a problem in those cases. Sometimes it is just in my hand or in my bag which always have when go to work. I did start putting my wallet in my back pocket when young because that is what every one else did but then asked myself why am I sitting on my wallet? LOL Didn't even have a phone to worry about back than. Your wallet also is not as secure in your back pocket. It amazes when see woman walking around with their phones sticking out of their back pocket. The worse thing I see people doing is having a phone case holding their ID, credit cards, and cash. Bad idea! It's a fact people lose their phones much more often than a wallet.

  6. I'm seeing this from a different perspective. For $200 you get a military-grade smartphone with an insane battery?! That's wonderful for weekend hikes, rafting, extreme sports, or anywhere you'd like to have coverage that you don't need the fanciness of a better device. In addition that Mediatek must give you extended battery life compared to a faster Snapdragon phone.

There are still several around although I don't know anyone that has used one in years. I believe the last time I even checked one out was in the 90's!

  8. Facebook is suffering a worldwide outage [Update]

F small businesses who feed off that s*it. F small business? Screw you buddy!!! There is nothing sacred about a small business if it's feeding the evil beast that is Facebook. I've really no idea how to made that connection. But alas, you don't have a small business (I do) and I tend to eat out /or buy products or services from small business and so do millions of people Beyond me how you connected the dots there.

  9. Efficient/fast CSV file from client (Windows) to server (CentOS)

Probably not going to get anything faster than a basic TCP connection. If you want to keep things as simple as possible, you could use a Powershell script to send the file on the Windows client and Netcat on the Linux server to listen and receive the file.

  15. Facebook will use its HQ as a vaccination centre, says Sandberg

Found the anti-vaxxer. I'm not even anti-vaxx, but it's funny how anyone who even dares to make a comment, even as a joke, gets labelled as an 'anti-vaxxer' instantly Brainwashing works. Yes, you have exhibited that quite well.

Chip shortage is an industry wide problem with lead times for some parts being over a year. It doesn't help when things like this happen https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-56486242

I know right? Probably why this "will be done in participation with Ravenswood Family Health Network." Then, how about doing the vaccination there in the Health network? What is so special about the installations of Facebook?. Because this is vaccinations in mass. You have hotels, stadiums, malls, etc. being used for mass vaccination locations. But oh noes...Facebook offering part of their property for mass vaccinations.... /s Mass places * Stadiums * Parks and open places. * School and universities (those that are taking classes online): * Mall * Army bases Not mass places * Corporate offices, especially those with a reduced entry lobby. So I feel curious about the election of this place 🤷‍♂️ (and who decided that it was a good idea?) Good to know you are the expert on appropriate locations. Have you lent your knowledge and concerns to Facebook and the Ravenswood Family Health Network? BTW, the HQ campus is huge as is the interior (large open floor plans). If they do it in the parking lot as you "think" ... wouldn't that satisfy your "Parks and open places" Anyway ... who cares. As long as many people get easy and quick access to the vaccine. Exactly. Who the heck cares? We have a medical center here that is using part of the University campus, and the hospital, and the parking lots, and grass fields, and tents to vaccinate people. I do not see the problem.

  23. Firefox 89 to receive longer beta cycle to prep for Proton

Firefox seems to be following the failed path MS has been using with Windows-10. This constant fixation with having to "fix" things that were working just find really needs to stop. Made worse, in that users have to opt "out" (or do some configuration file editing) instead of opt "in" for the dubious feature.

  24. OneDrive sync client gets 64-bit support on Windows

When you say "technically, AMD64", you are saying this build only works on AMD CPUs. But AMD64 is metonymically (as opposed to technically) used to refer to x64. x64 itself is a moniker for both Intel 64 and AMD64. It means when we say x64 we mean AMD64. Intel licenses the 64 bit architecture from AMD. All 64 bit implementation (Intel OR AMD) uses AMD64.

Back in 2004-5. Jeez these "tiny" screens was so large and heavy! Typing this on my 32" "TV" monitor, and I see progress! along with a 65" TV on the wall instead of this tiny TV I had sitting next to it.

  26. "Users on Reddit have begun complaining about the Proton tab experience as they're upset that it uses up too much space and that there are no visual separators between tabs." Don't worry, mozilla's team will close any requests to revert it, they'll then remove the option to disable it and when people ask why can't the option be added back to revert it, will tell them that they are wrong and their opinion is invalid. Like with every other forced UI change by mozilla in the past few years.

Man oh man, Longhorn news and screenshots was one of the reasons I first signed up to Neowin all those years ago. I remember trying to customize Windows XP to look like the blue M builds of Longhorn. In fact, this is still one of my favorite wallpapers:
