Nvidia now a three-chip company as it unveils its first Arm-based CPU
suni08 and 4 others reacted to WinMacLin Guy for a topic
Focus solely on diversity hires and inclusivity and that's the future any company will be heading. What? AMD and Nvidia are also very diverse companies to work at and they are doing fine. Intel's problem is not diversity, it is lack of foresight and leadership because the company got complacent in their leadership position and did not take its competition seriously (and they miscalculated their ability in 10 nm fabs). But I guess we should blame people from marginalized communities who are finally being given opportunities for when a company does badly.5 points -

Facebook will pin vaccine information to top of News Feed
naap51stang and 2 others reacted to derpityderp for a topic
This is gonna have the backfire effect... you can't keep bombarding people with information. The ones who were gonna take the vaccine would do it without such invasive prompts and the ones who are "suspicious" will grow more suspicious because they will perceive that there's some huge conspiracy to "push" it on people by Big Tech...3 points -

Microsoft confirms Nuance acquisition for nearly $20 billion
dpjx2 and 2 others reacted to dead.cell for a topic
I don't have an issue with Microsoft specifically, don't get me wrong, but... I can't help but feel there needs to be some limitation to how many companies one can acquire on an annual basis. I can't see it being healthy when Google, Facebook, Apple, and Microsoft run half the stuff that's out there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...d_acquisitions_by_Microsoft3 points -

Microsoft could acquire AI firm Nuance Communications in a $16 billion deal
Jameswr and one other reacted to Brony for a topic
I will predict the future: Microsoft will pay a ton of money for it, then it will try to use it until it will find that it purchased a company with an outdated or useless portfolio. Then, Microsoft will close the company and will look for the next company to where to spend its money. However, since technically it's not its money (but the money of the shareholders), then sooner or later, some heads will roll.2 points -

MS Bob 11 reacted to Chay Meredith for a topic
All these utilities are crap. Onedrive, Dropbox etc. need the ability to sync outside the base folder. No one is using one location for data anymore. It's my major gripe on this. Ya that's the main issue, an older one drive build did support syncing other folders, but they removed it again at some point. Other issues being the management of deleting files etc Also some times it syncs a wrong version and you lose your content. Pretty much useless, have to just drop into web client.1 point -
Facebook will use its HQ as a vaccination centre, says Sandberg
adrynalyne reacted to Jim K for a topic
Good to know you are the expert on appropriate locations. Have you lent your knowledge and concerns to Facebook and the Ravenswood Family Health Network? BTW, the HQ campus is huge as is the interior (large open floor plans). If they do it in the parking lot as you "think" ... wouldn't that satisfy your "Parks and open places" Anyway ... who cares. As long as many people get easy and quick access to the vaccine. Let's me explain the situation. California is not a poor state, it has the resources but what it did? A sponsored circus. 🤡 🎪 In comparison, what China did?. It took the situation as a state of emergency, they build a whole hospital and controlled the situation in a couple of months. * Facebook : Can we help you by giving it some place for the vaccination? * CDC: Are you an expert in epidemy? Do you run a hospital? * Facebook: No but we could.. * CDC: Sorry, but you are wasting our time. So it is the reason why US is at the top of the infected. /sigh. You keep bringing Facebook up as if they are the ones who are administering the vaccine. They are not. Healthcare professionals will be administering and monitoring the patients. Facebook is just opening their doors (or their parking lot as you *think*) for healthcare professionals to mass administer the COVID-19 vaccine. It isn't that complicated.1 point -

Firefox 89 to receive longer beta cycle to prep for Proton
eilegz reacted to n_K for a topic
"Users on Reddit have begun complaining about the Proton tab experience as they're upset that it uses up too much space and that there are no visual separators between tabs." Don't worry, mozilla's team will close any requests to revert it, they'll then remove the option to disable it and when people ask why can't the option be added back to revert it, will tell them that they are wrong and their opinion is invalid. Like with every other forced UI change by mozilla in the past few years.1 point -

In addition, the data seems to only contain users that have a phone number. So if people didn't add phone number to their facebook account, no data regarding that person is in the leak. This doesn't explain why my mobile number is in the public database when it has never been available to view in my "About" page or anywhere else, afaik I was required to add it one time to verify or setup two factor, I can't remember exactly, but aside from this, try creating a new Google account without verifying it with a mobile phone number, it is not optional, it is required.1 point -

ASUS Z370/Z390 board owners are furious over the lack of Resizable BAR support [Update]

My Aorus X570 Elite is a disaster, Gigabyte will never see my money again. Elite WiFi here. No issues. Last 3 boards have been Gigabyte. Previously Asus was favorite but had NIC issues of some sort with the last 3. Had two AsRock boards. Pretty decent. I don't get how people get upset about something they didn't buy the board for to begin with, lol. It's just a bonus, literally. Not a feature.1 point
