Amen! The US is at the lowest tax rates for individuals and corporations in the last 70 years. Do people even try to follow economics, or just like the bumper sticker BS Republicans put out? Maybe the 'leftist' should push to go back to the 90% tax rates of the 50s or the 70% tax rates of the 70s. BTW - The biggest tax cut in history - Barack Obama. (Weird, isn't he a leftist?) - The next biggest tax cut in history - John Kennedy. Again, nobody pays attention to anything beyond Republican BS. In economics, the strongest economies are during 'Leftist' administrations, the result of 'Leftist' tax policies. There are facts out there, and instead of of supporting people that hurt you financially, you could support people that are less '######' and will help your own economic interests. The Democratic model - the policies help you and poorer people at the same time. In contrast to helping just you. Also, even people with 'real money' - ($100 million plus) support the 'leftist' policies on taxes. Ironically, it is the people that aren't rich enough to be affected that bitch about the 'taxes'. Testing this... Wargon, you make over 5 million a year? If not, this isn't your fight. PS - The anti-leftist economic policies of Republicans come from a model to take money away from poor people of color. They KNOW they are NOT good economic models in general, but hurt poor people and minorities. This isn't conspiracy - see interviews with Lee Atwater, Buckley, etc. - This is all detailed in the words they use like "cut social programs". (Just in case you aren't a racist ###### and didn't realize the economic policy you were being sold is Racist.) ___ Don't believe a ######ing word I say - pull an economic chart of the US, pull a tax chart, pull a spending chart, GDP chart, Deficit chart.6 points -

No, if you ever sold your dogecoin for a gain of 1 million, your marginal tax rate would be 39.6%. High rates typically only apply to short term investments (<1 year) and it's highly unlikely for a small investment to lead to a million dollar profit in that time frame. Still, assuming a short term gain of 1 million with the absolute worst scenario for you as a taxpayer, you would owe about $347k, which is only $13k more than you owe under the current rate. In most realistic scenarios, you'd pay a lot lower. Even if Biden somehow increased the maximum rate on long term gains to 39.6%, you'd owe around 280k at most. And it doesn't go to him. Save your selective outrage.3 points -

Sony still in talks with Microsoft, but cloud strategy to be 'only on PlayStation'
Jose_49 and 2 others reacted to George P for a topic
Working with MS on cloud only for PlayStation is what everyone understood when the deal was made back in 2019. Nothing new is being said above IMO. Besides outside of the PS brand and it's strong sales, the rest of Sony is doing, i'd say, average. There's nothing else that Sony would need to strike a deal for if not to bulk up PS Now which hasn't managed to make any waves all these years later.3 points -

How to force News and Interests to use your default browser
MS Bob 11 and one other reacted to Brandon H for a topic
Its beyond silly, "pathetic" is probably more accurate. Its emblematic of the "young kids" running amok at MS. "It's all about me." I have no interest in this app but... What's silly or pathetic about a news and interests app? What does it have to do with "young kids" or "it's all about me"? The only actual issue I see here is Microsoft not respecting one's default browser choice. yeah the forcing links to open in Edge despite default browser settings is what we're disputing calling silly/pathetic. In fact I'd almost go as far as to call it "anti-competitive" or "ant-trust" in which I'm surprised they haven't gotten in trouble in the EU for yet.2 points -

garwin and one other reacted to Malisk for a topic
I'm not impressed so far - it's mostly just a simple CLI for the traditional install methods. But that's not their fault. They can only work on something given the tools they have. And that missing tool is a full fledged package system with dependency management and all. Most of what we install on Windows since Windows 1.0 is still binary "something.exe" black boxes, so there's only so much you can do. The day you can tell winget to wipe all unused DLL's and it'll instantly know which ones are safe to delete is probably far away if it'll even ever come.2 points -

Hello Nick, I tested this for you in the latest 21364 Dev Windows Insider build which contains the latest version of News & Interests, and with my browser default set to Chrome, any link I clicked on in the News & Interest opened Edge (with the notice "Would you like to set Microsoft Edge as your default browser?") After installing EdgeDeflector https://github.com/da2x/EdgeDeflector/releases and rebooting, the first time I clicked on any link in the News & Interest panel, I was prompted which program I wanted to use to open the link, I was able to choose EdgeDeflector, which honors the default web browser (in my case Chrome) btw EdgeDeflector also 'fixes' a bunch of other link redirects to Edge from within Windows, such as help links and links from installed apps by redirecting to the default browser. Hope this answers your question!2 points -

I started using the Revolut app on my phone and then switched to Binance as the fees were lower... I prefer the look of Revolut but Binance has lots more types of crypto available although they do seem a little slower paying out... Treat it as a game - Start off with a small amount like £20 or something and see if you can build it that's what I did - It's not making any interest in the bank so I put £500 in with the understanding that I could lose the lot! (Although this seems likely - Even if the value crashes you still own it you just have to hold on for it to come up again - A bit like buying property I guess?)2 points -

iOS 15 will reportedly include multiple notification modes and other improvements
dustojnikhummer and one other reacted to Nas for a topic
I assume you forgot the /sarcasm designation... But if you were truly serious, then I don't think you understand how progress works. Back in the iPod days (or iPhone 1, same OS), there were practically no options; these days, the options are essentially "old way v. new way" real-world A/B tests. Based on feedback (read: not necessarily usage telemetry) or business incentives (or product management whims), they'll gradually phase out the Old Way and simply run with the New Way. I actually respect how Apple has been progressing with their iOS cadence; they're not in multi-year fits and starts (ahem, Microsoft) or annual break-fix-break cycles (ahem, Ubuntu) or release-and-let-die (ahem, Google Android). I prefer the WinMo UX, but iOS is polished and their app store is flush with options.2 points -

The price is relatively low for larger investors given where it's projected to potentially go. To them, it's still cheap, anything under $50K is a buy. That said, you can buy fractions of a bitcoin - and bitcoin isn't the only crypo 'asset' available. So much information gets wrapped around the currency that started on the blockchain, but not enough goes into mentioning any of the other legitimate projects out there, especially in DeFi. All covered here on Neowin historically too (PayPal enables cryptocurrencies at checkout in the U.S. - Neowin).1 point -
