Ooh, so edgy! Disabling Windows updates is a moronic thing to do and can only cause your system potential harm. Postponing updates for a short time is reasonable if you're concerned but disabling updates is just silly.13 points -

Sony announces PlayStation 5 launch in China, beats Microsoft to it

They can't sell enough in other key markets so why rush to release in yet another one if you can't keep up with demand to start with? Sure China is a big market but they limit the games that can be sold there and afaik, probably don't have any love for something like game pass which is streaming from outside their digital wall.4 points -

Anyone ever question why revenue and profit numbers and so widely publicized and easily available but numbers like yearly employment numbers and average salaries for a company are hidden away? I see these huge income numbers and my first question is did this company hire more people or not? Were there across the board pay raises? I guess it's a just reflection of $ being more important than people in our society.3 points -

Microsoft is working on a new default font for Office, replacing Calibri

No. Just MS's obsession with "change for the sake of change." MS just can't leave well enough alone. Their decade long history of mucking around with what used to be a good solid reliable OS is a great illustration. So, because you don't know their thinking behind the change, you've automatically assumed there can't possibly be a good reason for changing it? That's a pretty illogical way of thinking, frankly. What obsession? After 14 years they're changing the default font and that's an obsession, somehow? Times New Roman was a piece of junk font - like Arial - and it horribly needed to be replaced. The best font I've seen in a long time is Roboto. That's a great font.3 points -

Their decade long history of mucking around with what used to be a good solid reliable OS is a great illustration. If you take this stupid argument to its logical conclusion, then Microsoft should've never released anything after Windows 1.0. After all, why keep "mucking around"? After all, we all make perfect choices the first time around, and should never EVER revise our thinking based on changing circumstances or new information......... right?3 points -

Yes, we rather not have that information at all. No you don't need it. Use what you already have and keep it moving. Google does not need to be in the middle if everything. Some people do need that kind of information and that is what Google does provides information. Weird huh? You don't need to use that feature? Simple, don't use it or opt out of Google search and maps altogether. No need to be triggered over it.2 points -

Microsoft pokes fun at the MacBook Air in its new Surface Laptop 4 ad
RCTRCT reacted to greensabath for a topic
I think you're getting performance and performance per watt confused. No doubt a consequence of Apple's amazing ability to con consumers. On average they're about the same. Without a doubt the Macbook does win on battery life though. Dave2D does a pretty good review on both devices and concluded that it depends what you plan to use your laptop for: https://youtu.be/WKN9nvXTGHE?t=134 I am not getting it confused, I said what I said. Well then you're just wrong. The Surface Laptop 4 outright beats the Macbook Air, the laptop being compared to in the advert, and trades blows with the M1 Macbook. I invite you to watch some reviews comparing the devices. MS's ad should be comparing it to the M1 Macbook then, not the Macbook Air. That's a shady move on MS's part. I will agree that there are pros/cons for each device. It would have been really interesting if MS put in the newer AMD chip since that is killing it in terms of performance. Air runs M1.... Ok, I did some research and see that MS is comparing against the M1 Air because of product dimensions. So I take back my previous statement. I wonder if the M1 Air performance is worse than the M1 Pro because of the fanless design? I know w/ the Surface Pro i5 fanless, they throttle the CPU.1 point -
