Microsoft details the improvements made to Teams in April

That's the biggest letdown of Teams chat. And the stupid replay that you can do it on mobile is just lame. I use my desktop for everything and will not switch to mobile while we are in a session just to quote what someone has said Biggest letdown is you can't disable URL previews which take up almost the whole damn screen the biggest letdown is it uses 600MB for just running in the background. I have developer windows 10 pc and it takes 2-3 seconds to switch between chats. think about this there is no easy way to copy or download an image someone sends you in teams. it makes it worse when you cannot forward it. try copying the image by right-clicking. it will let you copy and you would think you can paste to paint or any other applications. nope doesn't work. such a POS application. I usually sit at 900MB-1GB. It’s an absolute hog. we used Jabber before and that wasn’t perfect but man i actually miss it. It doesn’t help that they went full retard and used Electron instead of building a proper app.3 points -

Out of curiosity what do you gain from re installing Windows so much these days? I've Windows 10 installs going back to July 2015 which function as good as any new Windows 10 install. I know historically on Windows XP you'd notice a big difference re installing Windows after a year, however I've never found that to be the case since Vista. I think it comes down to people still thinking the upgrade process is the same it was in Windows 7 and earlier where they are more like in-place upgrades now.1 point -

Good to have for work where you install and fix PCs etc. For personal use though, I don't see the need for the whole ISO, specially with how quick they get outdated compared to past Windows versions. No rush for this one, much more interested in what we get later with 21H2. I'll just let WU do it's thing when the time comes.1 point -

He was right you know In most scenarios this is correct, but however, an ISO image of Win10 is mainly used for potential future clean installations of Windows 10 to computers that one may need to refurbish I haven't done a clean install of WIndows 10 in forever. I actually think the last time I did was when I built my newest gaming PC some 5 or so years ago. The whole thing about doing clean installs often to keep your PC fresh was something I never bought into.1 point -

nah, Intel's consumer market wont be hurt much by apple, it's that server / DC market (that is moving to SoC solutions from ARM and AMD Epyc chips) that is gonna hurt intel as that's where they made a lot of money... Apple wasn't a huge market for Intel compared to it. I'm not the business analyst as you sound like you might be but I'm looking as a technical analyst at the recent "investment" of dollars from Intel spent on the worn out Mac Vs PC redux. I think even Microsoft dropped some coin on a comparison video recently too. Why do it if there is nothing to fear from Apple? As a consumer, I returned a new laptop to Costco to instead get the M1 MacBook Air and I'm completely happy with the purchase. I am not alone in that. These are not phones. People don't buy volumes of computers in the same way they buy and pitch phones. If you are suggesting this doesn't send a signal, think again. Apple has no server market.... Intel lost 47% in the server market in the past year which was one of their large money makers, like I said what is going to hurt Intel more is the server market... their PC market is actually rising in the past two years even with AMD's competition1 point -
What to do with old memory sticks?
Sir Topham Hatt reacted to Nick H. for a topic
I would say that for £6 you're not really losing out. USB stick lifespans are measured in writes rather than time. Since you think these may have been used before it depends on how they were used as to how long they will last you, but I wouldn't worry about it. If you use them as archives then your data will be safe enough from something like decay. I'm sure there are other precautions you could take, such as first inserting them in to a test machine so that if something bad is on them you don't lose anything important, but generally I just format them and run them through an AV. I'll leave that for someone else to answer.1 point -

That is the whole point: - they can’t put a link in the app that goes to their website with ‘sign up here’ cause then they will be banned by Apple. If they want users to sign up they arw forced to use Apple their payment system and pay 30 percent for it. They could pay it themselves or charge to money to the customer but this will make it 30 percent more expensive than Apple Music which is native music app. Either way with this rule either the customer is ripped of or the developers/service providers. Only Apple wins. Add to that that they won’t allow alternative stores that makes it super anti competitive. I love Apple products but I hope to see them bleed and be forced to be a bit more humble. They lost here, MS dropped their cuts this week for their stores (one of their defenses) and the Epic battle starts next week. Time for popcorn. That’s not the point I am addressing. It’s the one about them charging more for subs on the Apple store vs directly. That’s not a thing with Spotify and I’m not aware it is with other services either.I get the whole anti-competitive nature of Apple’s services with Apple Music. The idea of putting a link and directing them to their site to sign up is a bit of a gray area. I have an app on the store that takes them to PayPal to pay for items sold in the app. It’s completely legit because I pop them out into a browser and it’s no longer in-app. I'm pretty sure if apple were aware of that your app would be banned, I remember a large company, pretty sure it was microsoft, doing this and apple pulled the app until they removed it.1 point -

What for? Google doesn't have anti-steering provisions or a monopoly on which app store you can use (I distribute my own apps through F-Droid but not Play Store). Except Youtube Play Music and GPM also didn't have to deal with an in-store cut, which means they could undercut Spotify. On the other hand, how many people subscribe to GPM itself? Most people will get it with Youtube Premium In this case Google doesn't require payments to go through them. When signing up for Spotify premium on Android, the payments are going directly through Spotify without Google taking a cut. Except when in cases when they do. Try putting a patreon or a donate link into your app. Banned Okay? I'm not aware of Youtube Music or Spotify soliciting donations so I'm not sure how it's relevant to the point I was making. You mentioned that developers can use different payment methods. Sure they can, but only until they can't. No, I said that Spotify is using their own payment method on Android so Google can't be undercutting them. I also made it a point to preface my comment to say "In this case" because there are a bunch of situations like games and donations that are different but not relevant here for a bunch of reasons. Sure, if things change like you said and Google restricts music streaming services from using their own payment methods, then maybe the same case would be made against them. I'm not making my point with hypotheticals, though.1 point -

Oh thank heavens. Multi-monitor bugs and issues are improved by MS only once in a blue moon. There is another annoying bug for past 7 releases: 1809, 1903, 1909, 2004, 20H2, 21H1 and now 21H2: if you're using multi-monitor and DPI scaling, for apps that use "System" or System (Enhanced) DPI scaling, the Close (X) button doesn't close windows when it is maximized, and an underlying window behind the current one is activated and closed instead. Filed feedback for it in Feedback Hub right after the bug was introduced in 1809 (only 1803 and earlier are not affected). Nobody cares about fixing it.1 point -

Interesting. I was tinkering with stuff yesterday and managed to get it working once but was unable to duplicate the success. I had the VMs set to "default adapter" instead of the recommended "shared network" and on MacOS shared my wifi with "ethernet adapter en4" and "ethernet adapter en5". It worked then but, when I tried to pinpoint and duplicate, it wouldn't happen again. So apparently it was some random fluke. Lol1 point -

First of all, welcome to Neowin. We're pleased you chose to register and participate in our little corner of the Interwebs. To avoid any misunderstandings on what is acceptable here, and what not, please do have a look through our Community Rules. Neowin is like many other forums different, and with differences comes a different set of "house rules". The main things to take into considerations are, no swearing/cussing in posts (that includes in images), absolutely no warez discussion and/or links to such content, this also applies to nudity/porn, not acceptable here. Those I'd say are the big no-no's, the rest - as pointed out above - is in the Community Rules. Please have a look And again, Welcome to Neowin1 point
