New Windows 10 concept shows us a new Start menu and flyouts
MS Bob 11 and 3 others reacted to kazerrrt for a topic
looks good... except for the File Explorer, my god it is ugly and wastes so much space windows 10 doesn't only need a face lift it needs to replace all the ###### bloated systems - updates shouldn't take longer than 2 minutes to download/apply - i shouldn't have to restart after an update - i should be able to revert the update in 2 minutes if that update is broken (it's possible on arch linux thanks to the new filesystem if you take snapshot before the update, NTFS sucks ass) - remove the registry system, it is trash, you can never properly uninstall programs, since it's gonna get bloated with multiple windows specific things BY windows oh and add tabs to file explorer.................................................................... Concepts tend to look good till the actual coders turn around and tell you this doesn't work or you can't do this or it won't work right. Or the user groups that companies bring in to test some changes don't like it so the whole thing is scrapped.4 points -

Degoo Premium: Lifetime 15TB Mega Backup Plan now 96% off
ThaCrip and one other reacted to Steven P. for a topic
I think you are right in that you don't want a fake Chinese iPhone if you truly want to have the premium experience of the Apple eco system, however if you can afford to gamble on a 15TB storage that may or may not work out in the long run then its a nice deal. Reviews online are mixed, but so are people's experience with iPhones. I once bought a lifetime single PC license to MalwareBytes in 2012 for €2.49 by doing it through a sponsored partnership on some game that was posted by Copernic (that's Razvan who does all of our software news) in our forums. I still have the latest MalwareBytes fully licensed and everything at MalwareBytes website. Although this turned out legit, and I am still using it to this day I could afford to lose €2.49 if it turned out to be some scammed/stolen code (like the Windows 10 keys on cdkeyz type sites for $5). Sometimes it's a win, and sometimes you truly get what you pay for.2 points -
Microsoft warns of widespread gift card scam targeting organizations
wingliston and one other reacted to Gungel for a topic
That scam is going around for a couple of years now with a similar excuse to buy gift cards. My wife received an email supposedly from her boss with exactly that procedure in 2019. The email was done very well, and she almost fell for it. Lucky for her she got called into a meeting before getting the gift cards and on the way out of the meeting she asked the boss about the email. Of course, the boss had no idea what my wife was talking about.2 points -
Stardock announces DeskScapes 11, Beta available right now

DeskScapes has supported h264 for years. Yup, I can confirm that. Does the new DS11 support h265 now? If your system supports h265 DeskScapes would too. The problem was that back in the Vista days Microsoft didn't include support for most codecs. Now adays, Windows has everything built in.2 points -
Nintendo's Switch has sold more units than the Game Boy Advance, on track to beat the Wii
kazerrrt and one other reacted to Jose_49 for a topic
Because what Sony needs is a Windows Phone level failure... or as Sony likes to call it, a PlayStation Vita. the reason the Vita failed was completely Sony's own fault. it had proprietary overpriced expandable memory and I heard it was a PITA and expensive to develop for compared to other offerings. Instead of learning from their mistakes Sony just decided to exit that market. Which was a shame. The original PSP was such a good portable.2 points -

My mums just replaced her Nexus 9 with a Lenovo Chromebook Duet. Granted it runs Chrome OS, however all her Android apps work great on it. Who knows? If you or I, just minor nobody FB users get banned, it doesn't make the news at all. So they could be banning a large portion of users on both sides, unless someone you know gets hit you're not going to find out. There are plenty of high profile people that provoked the riots and weren't touched. Can you imagine if Trump said this during the protest at the capitol? https://twitter.com/KamalaHarr...us/1267555018128965643?s=202 points -

Private system....and his words have weight and because of his position manage to somehow incite idiots. They believe his words. Because of that, he needed to be removed. Also, as the article stated, what he did, clearly violated their rules. Case closed. They have not banned Congress Woman Maxine Waters. A double standard in which is also their right as a private entity. Stay on topic please, whataboutism doesn't work here. Just because you don't like it does not make it off-topic or whataboutism. There's certainly an argument to be made for the banning of Trump over the riots, but that argument falls apart for them if they are not going to hold the same standard to others doing the same thing. They ought to either apply the standard consistently, or not at all.2 points -

I hate Facebook with a passion. Neowin's pages are still blocked from posting (since April 23rd) and Facebook business support are completely useless, not once in all that time have I been told WHY the pages were blocked from posting, other than some message about "temporarily limiting posting" (when all we do there is repost our news feed, just like we do on Twitter @NeowinFeed) meanwhile I get unhelpful updates like these: Hi Steven, Thank you so much for your patience! We're still working on looking into this and resolving the issue for you, please be assured that we understand how urgent this issue is and we're treating it as such. We're doing everything we can to get this resolved as soon as possible, and thoroughly for you! I'll be in touch as soon as I have an update, apologies for the delay. Intel's discrete gaming graphics (DG2) is apparently "right around the corner"
MS Bob 11 reacted to farmeunit for a topic
Why would you expect linear performance between two different architectures? Lots of variables. The 3060 performs terrible compared to the 3060Ti, so I can't see it performing below that and equal to a 3050. If it did, why would they even bother? Cuda is only a big deal for some people. Not gamers. Ray tracing still needs to perform better across all cards to be "really" useful. DLSS is really the ONLY technology that is definitely useful to vast majority of gamers, but even it needs to be supported in more games. Unreal Engine support baked in will help, but that's it's mostly valuable asset at this time, by far. Also, Intel has XeSS: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/78644/intel-xess-is-team-blues-answer-to-greens-magic-dlss-technology/index.html Of course we don't know a ton about it, yet, and AMD has it's DLSS alternative coming, also. I think I have 3 games that support RT that I know of, lol. Metro, Control, which I haven't played, and Cyberpunk.1 point -

Doing the hybrid approach paid off for them. But then Nintendo was going strong on the back of the GameBoy and DS for so long, it made sense to stick to their strengths. I mean outside of the Wii selling great it was pretty hit and miss for them on the console side. WiiU did terrible, GameCube wasn't so hot either. The Start Menu sucks balls. * The default view should be the list of applications, as it always has been. * The search bar is in the worst location in the Start Menu. * And the tiles thing in the Start Menu in the current Windows 10 is near perfect. The concept what-ever-it-is is a massive downgrade. * And worst of all, it looks like a Mac or Android skin. Stop making stuff worse, MS! The flyouts and the Explorer are ok, I guess. fishnet37222 reacted to George P for a topic
Just checked, 3 files, though 1 is 2mb itself but it's from a month ago. I think the issue is one that shows up due to a few variables. Like it says, it seems to be a Server 2016/2019 issue. Also for those who are running multiple security software. I only use defender, not it and something else. I see no point in running multiple AV apps on my systems. Just pick one and stick to that.1 point -

MS Bob 11 reacted to Peter van Dam for a topic
I don't get the hate against Facebook itself. Facebook isn't selling my data or giving it away. It gives advertisers a tool to really specify who should see their ad. Only Facebook knows who those people are. Now compare this to any other company. For example, the local store with a discount card, that promised not to share my info, GAVE my email adres and balance to Facebook. Hospitals, even very specific about my condition share my email address, name and birth info to Survey holders and services like mass mailers without consent. Or any other website with 300+ options to disable not to send my data to other companies. So I rather have 1 service that knows everything about me, but keeps it private than having over 300 companies building profiles about me.1 point -
