I was able to even tolerate "they/them" pronouns but this is getting absolutely ridiculous. Wtf are these made up pronouns... "fae, faer, ze, zir, zie, xe, xem, xyr, co, cos, ve, ver, vis, vi, vir?"

Yeah, I consider myself fairly open minded but that is just ridiculous. The only one I can guess is vi which I assume is for people who gender identify as an UNIX text editor. LOL

That is a problem with social media... It's part of the masses. They follow what the masses do even if wrong or stupid. No one can deny when we were teenagers we thought the world span around us and we wanted everything our way. This is a teenager thing...

  9. Instagram is rolling out pronouns on user profiles

I get people having prefered pronouns, but what pisses me off is when people get bent out of shame for accidentally saying the wrong one or getting ###### because YOU dont list YOURs. I don't care if you call me she, he, they, spiderman, or pumpernickel toast. Don't make it MY problem you feel the need to not only constantly remind others what you call yourself but see my lack of caring what I am called as somehow an attack on you.

Found this on bing. https://lgbta.wikia.org/wiki/Neopronouns I don't have a clue what any of these things are but i don't think its up to you to tolerate. They are doing their thing and you do yours. Not sure why you feel you have to "tolerate" something that has nothing to do with you but maybe thats just me.

  13. Right, but the garbage games that show ads every other minute for 30 seconds and offer to remove them if you pay $5.99 a week after a 3 day trial - those get in. Give me a break. Apple is a money-grubbing crock of scum sucking punks.

  14. Microsoft Threat and Vulnerability Management now supports Linux

I'm afraid you misunderstand what's going on here. Binary compatibility isn't the problem. Microsoft runs a support program as part of its software assurance contracts and what-not. This program is one of Microsoft's three main sources of income. Please notice how many times the word "support" appears in the article.

  17. Apple rejected over 200,000 apps in 2020 for violating user privacy

No thanks. App Store all the way. Every app is screened to comply with strict privacy rules. Remove the incentive to comply with privacy guidelines then apps will be harvesting all sorts of user data.

  18. Apple rejected over 200,000 apps in 2020 for violating user privacy

For me the solution is simple: Let people download their apps right from the developers website. For example: I could never download a Fake ESPN app because I would just be going to ESPN dotcom to download it. No need for Apple to monitor for fake Fortnite apps, Microsoft Office apps, fake Netflix apps, etc.... Just go directly to the developers website and download it there. You are assured to get the 'Legit' app from there. It appears that Apple's App Store give the illusion that there is safety everywhere in the App Store, but in really it is only as safe as Apple's ability to catch these fraudulent apps. Yet, Apple will forever use this reasoning to keep taking 30% of every Developers revenue. It is Apples perfect 'Lock-in' reason for doing so; to keep their customers safe. OR people can just take responsibility for themselves like they do in everything else in their lives and download the Apps from the developers themselves. But of coarse Apple wants to be the Big Brother watching over you, since while it costs Apple roughly $71 Million on average a year to maintain the App Store, Apple made $10.6 BILLION in revenue from the App Store last year. (It's pretty easy to see why Apple wants to be the watch-dog for everyone. They profit in ridiculous amounts of money to be your protector. It's the perfect scheme; again.)

  21. Instagram is rolling out pronouns on user profiles

I have found that people are very forgiving when it is an honest mistake. People that get a bit too bent out of shape, are often themselves still questioning who they are and their own identification. In that case, either ignore or be patient with them. This is hard stuff for the people in the middle of it, much harder than it is for everyone else that has to 'deal' with their identification.

Really? So what is the right pronoun for XXY? These variations exist and are only in reference to physical attributes, ignoring the mental range of biology and terminology that language currently ignores. Unless you think we are only our biology and our mentality is worthless.

Yup, as soon as I saw the headline I knew there would be a lot of ignorant posts here. I'm guessing there are a lot of people who've never met/spoken to someone with gender dysphoria, and what it means to them to be able to use pronouns that they are more comfortable with. The science is currently clear that gender and sex aren't always exactly aligned, and that neither are black/white. Why are so many upset that people are increasingly able to more accurately express who they feel they are?

  34. Microsoft Threat and Vulnerability Management now supports Linux

I see what you mean but it is what Microsoft says MS is clueless to the Linux trends... What makes you think that? Ubuntu is based off Debian. If something works in Ubuntu, it works in Debian, too. "Currently supported Linux operating systems include RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu. Support will be rolling out for Oracle Linux, SUSE, and Debian soon as well" Also, CentOS is dead now.. (not receiving security updates anymore) Roughly stated all Linux flavors are based on one another, but they're still vastly different in certain cases. Just the desktop situation alone will create a vast amount of variations and software issues. Just to say MS is clueless to Linux trends is clueless in itself.....

Guess you never heard of search engines. It’s basic respect to use people’s pronouns if they request it. Pronouns have always been part of language and we’re adding more for people that got ignored. If words are hard for you, that’s ion you. If you’re just refusing to be rude, that also only reflects on you.

  38. HTC announces the 5K Vive Pro 2 and Vive Focus 3 VR headsets

Not everyone is a typical consumer. I've been waiting for three years for an update like this. This is a high end headset for high end graphics. It's in a completely different league than the Oculus you are referring to. Also, it's $800 as an upgrade, and supports even the version 1.0 lighthouses from 2015, which is pretty impressive.

  40. The passport isn't crap, all that does is prove you've received the vaccination. What might be crap in your example is the requirement to be vaccinated to do things, or to go to places. The truth though is that while you still may be contagious after vaccination, most scientists agree that while the data still isn't conclusive, they would be surprised if vaccination didn't lower transmissibility by at least a small amount as seen in other vaccinations. So if that's the case, vaccine is better than no vaccine. It is the start of a slippery slope towards an I.D card, the government have come out today with that people will need a photo I.D to vote in the future, something I and thousands of other people don't have, so that will be a lot of people not voting, including me maybe that is what the government wants. As for the Co-vid vaccine passport, Boris can stick it up his backside.

  47. Which is better?

No, that's not what he is saying. Or at least, it shouldn't be the message to take away. A certification is a bit of paper that says, "I officially know how to do <x>." Now, you can go into a course with 0 knowledge and come out with knowledge and the certification. But the knowledge will be theoretical and focused on best practices. What you will find in the real world is that while the knowledge you have gained from the course is helpful, it won't mean you're ready for every eventuality. Hands-on experience means that you have the knowledge that has been applied in the real world. It can be better than having a certification but it comes with its own pitfalls. You might know how to do something, but in the process you may have learned how to do it in ways that might be inadvisable in a perfect world (i.e. as far as a certificate would have taught you). Get a certificate. They are viewed and considered as good things by employers. But if you can get real experience, definitely get that where possible.

  48. exactly. like I mentioned, this happened before I checked for updates and installed it, thinking it may fix my issue. another clue is that Microsoft said to wait a few hours and restart the app, nothing about forcing an update. I have no idea what they're doing to prevent an email from displaying when I have my own non-microsoft mail server and outlook 2019 desktop.

  49. That's a really silly idea. I mean, a ton of the "Enterprise only" settings and options aren't needed by the home user whatsoever, so why complicate things? The only people who are tied in knots over the SKUs are the ones who let them tie themselves over the SKUs, everyone else just uses the version of Windows appropriate for their situation. everything that is in that sku is also in a normal install just disabled, just enable it via a GPO if you are in an enterprise... it's not hard to do.. 1 single install now days can install any of the versions, all it is now is a switch to turn stuff on or off... what I'm saying is sell one license for windows, if an enterprise needs enterprise features sell it as an addon CAL for them to license it, but like pro vs home there is a lot of pro features that home users may like, like RDP server, or bitlocker to encrypt a personal device... You just explained Windows 8's licensing model. You know, the one where they couldn't auto-activate DVD playblack due to MPAA licensing restrictions... the one where the same bits for the original Surface RT were too "heavy" for the hardware (cuz they packaged x86 compatibility even though it was an ARM cpu [NVIDIA Tegra 3])... But that's from TEN (10) YEARS AGO. A lot has changed since then, including expectations from both consumers and enterprises. ** ** Enterprises and associated consulting services, which is Microsoft's licensing bread and butter, financially dictate the directions Microsoft takes with ambitious projects. When their partners stop supporting specific hardware profiles, or their own 10-yr-plans change direction, Microsoft must adapt and reallocate their resources towards greener pastures. The pedestrian consumer market simply does not generate sufficient revenue for Microsoft to provide 10-year 24/7/365 multilingual support; much less ambitious side projects. Not to mention cost. If everyone received the same product and had access to all of it, then the cost to consumers would increase. From my understanding, MS charges different rates for their SKU's, as the complexity and additional features increase. Yes, it would most likely bring down the cost per user for enterprises, but MS have to make up that loss somewhere, and it'll go into "boxed copies" and the unseen fee charged to OEM's when they install Windows.
