Expected unintended consequences with the needlessly complicated WIndows-10 OS. Why MS decided they had to "bake in" all sorts of features--many of which are not needed or wanted by a large number of users--remains an unanswered question. What ever happened to the tried and true axiom "If you want extra, you pay extra?" And he opens his mouth, and confirms what I thought of his knowledge. Again.3 points -

So you want to make it mandatory that everyone submits their fingerprints to these companies to prove their identification just to use the internet? Ha ha, good one. Your fingerprint stays locally. The browser just verifies against a local store. On my Android phone, I have to redo my fingerprint when I reset it or get a new phone, because it's not save elsewhere... Even assuming what you said is true. if it's even possible that this could be abused, I definitely would rather stick to passwords over fingerprints. anything too personal (fingerprints and the like) just sounds like a bad idea right off the start is my mindset.2 points -

480p resolution at 150 inches. That sounds fun! Its Native resolution is 800x480p. Just like MANY other projectors, it touts 1080p Compatibility. Sure you can give it a 1080p signal but it will crap it down to 480p... statements like that just sound slimy. To be fair it doesn't claim it here but it does on their Amazon listing. I love how they never clarify that it craps it down. Feels like they are trying to entice the stupid with words like 1080p.1 point -

No - passwords only. I have a S10+ and while it has the finger print scanner I have things on my phone, computer that I would rather nobody never get to see not even family. I'm just a very private person always have been and my computers stay locked when not in use. If I die I gave a friend instructions to destroy them and not use them for anything including the phone. Now if I die that means if someone was smart before they set me aflame then they could reach over into the box and tap my dead cold finger onto the phone screen and off they go. No stick to passwords...same applies to law enforcement holding you down to force open your device while being held for something stupid or something you don't wish them to prove. I'm not saying go off do illegal things but its a privacy thing IMO and its so easy to find a way to get a finger print... hint hint McGyver did a few times!1 point -

The second video has a giant GUID on the screen. Back when I was in some private Xbox One betas of yet to be announced AAA games someone leaked footage of a playtest, this taken very seriously. Future playtests got cancelled for a while and apparently legal action was taken against this person. With real private beats companies don't mess around, hence the massive UUID plastered across the screen here, making it very easy to trace this back to exactly who leaked the footage.1 point -

This is an autism thing. How so? Enlight me as it seems I have different understanding of Autism seriously.. just google scholastic works. it's talked about all the time. Brief Report: Links Between Nonconformity to Gender Norms, Autistic Features, and Internalizing Symptoms in a Non-clinical College Sample | SpringerLink " Abstract Research shows elevated gender variance among autistic people and more autistic traits among gender diverse people, each of which is related to mental health concerns. Little work has explored broad features of these presentations in a non-clinical sample. College students (n = 174) ages 18–22 years completed questionnaires assessing the broader autism phenotype (BAP), autistic features, nonconformity to gender norms, and internalizing symptoms. Those with more BAP features or autistic communication reported more nonconformity to gender norms. Higher levels of internalizing symptoms were related to more gender nonconformity, BAP, and autistic features. Gender nonconformity marginally moderated the effect of BAP on depression but not anxiety. The BAP, autistic features, and gender nonconformity are important in understanding mental well-being." Prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Amongst Individuals with Gender Dysphoria: A Systematic Review | SpringerLink "Low-level evidence exists to suggest a link between ASD and GD. Further population-based and controlled studies using diagnostic criteria for ASD and ADHD are required."1 point -

I hate Cloudflare slightly less than I hate Google, so maybe this will work out. Google captcha really doesn't like me. I don't have a Google account. I don't use Chrome. And I block a lot of Google stuff at both DNS and browser level. So as punishment, I get the ###### fading puzzles, and I have to spend between 5-10 minutes solving an endless parade of them. I usually don't bother.1 point -

"bots" have already gamed Captcha/reCaptcha, so this barrier's usefulness is already dampened. Given this reality, Cloudflare is pushing for broader WebAuthn (W3C spec) adoption; it's already implemented in most browsers/OSes already! It would save time overall, provide a touch more privacy, and minimize commercial exploitation of the Captcha tech (which the bots already do as much as Google's AI initiatives).1 point -

CGI reacted to George P for a topic
It is, but then again when you're not the one trying to figure things out from zero it does help speed things up. Most of the tech needed to do these missions and the knowhow isn't really a close guarded secret like back in the space race of the 60s. It also shows how the US and Russia just sat on their hands for so long when, if they would've kept going the way they were, we'd probably have a few moon bases and a few moon orbiting stations already. And probably well into manned Mars missions. But what happened in the end is what normally happens when the political side of it is done with things and bows out. the race to space and to the moon were astronomically expensive. there's only so much money to go around so when there's the Cold War to fund in the past and local economies to take care of now, the budget for space has shrunken dramatically. neither the Republicans or the Democrats want to prioritize space. Sure it's expensive, no doubt, but in the long run the advances in space tech find it's way into other things and other markets which boosts your economy. And it's not like NASA builds everything it uses in-house. Lots of businesses and jobs are paid for by these programs. The number of parts and pieces built by hundreds of companies out there is crazy. The view that space is a waste of money is so short sighted IMO. But hey, lets spend more on some extra bombs and feed that industrial military machine instead.1 point -

Here's what you need to know about FLoC: Google's alternative to individual tracking
Ather Fawaz reacted to Usama Jawad96 for a topic
Was about to say the same! Very well written and explained! I didn't have to look for secondary sources to understand it. “Additionally, Google used Word Clouds to visualize the semantic meaning behind each cohort” Hah! I was thinking of adding a disclaimer that some amount of knowledge of statistics/maths/machine learning would be preferred before you dive into the article but then decided against it because it might sound too pretentious. Although, I'm happy to refer readers to relevant articles if they are interested in knowing more about the methodologies mentioned briefly in the article. I studied most of these methods like agglomerative clustering method with changing centroids during the Data Science course at university and I know how mathematical/technical they can be so I did not go into too many details and just briefly discussed their concept. And specifically with respect to word clouds, I'll add here that it is a visualization technique to show keywords from the data in this case. These keywords can be used to understand the semantic meaning behind a collection of text. For example, in this case, when Google tested the algorithm on the music data, they generated a cohort which had a word cloud containing keywords like "metal", "hard metal", etc. which shows that the cohort mostly contained users who tend to listen to songs of the metal genre, so it's a good cohort/classification. Sorry, I know I could have explained it more in the article but I didn't want to make it a longer read than it already is1 point -
