iPod Touch could be making a return in Fall 2021

I thought the iPod Touch was brilliant for kids. You pull out your phone and they're like "I wanna watch a video! I wanna play a game!" -- buying an iPod Touch for my daughter at that age was awesome for her to listen to her own music, watch movies on planes and play Fruit Ninja or whatever it was at the time without getting her stick fingers all over my phone.4 points -

Halo: MCC Insider test brings Combat Evolved visual enhancements and more
Nogib and one other reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
Considering the age of even the MCC, let alone the original releases, I am glad they are still adding/updating Halo. If nothing else, it helps to set a precedent for the rest of the gaming industry of how to treat customers and how to handle a long term IP technology with online support. I never thought that Halo would be the one thing Microsoft would be doing/getting right. I remember when the work around UX and dev platforms and NT/Windows was brilliant and being done right. PS Anyone know a warlock that can get us the last 5 years back?2 points -

Why not just buy an iPhone and don't use it with a SIM card? You wouldn't need to buy another device when you think they are old enough to have a smartphone. Why spend $1000 on something that doesn't even make phone calls or send text messages? If I was going to pay that kind of money for a music player, I would get something from Astell & Kern, frankly. Not Apple's crapola. $5 says they don't even ship it with a headphone jack, yet they put the idiot camera on it. Bunch of morons coming up with ideas down there.1 point -

HomePod and HomePod Mini will get Lossless audio support
wingliston reacted to Brony for a topic
It is just a gimmick. Lossless audio is aimed at professional audio (HIFI) and still, we barely could notice the difference. The Homepod is not a bad speaker but it is not professional audio. It is also a mono speaker 😗 You can buy two and get a stereo experience but sheesh. In general, if you want to get the best experience then you will need a good pair of speakers and an audio device with a good DAC, homepod lacks both. And about Dolby Atmos... in a mono speaker 🤣 Dolby Atmos is not about quality, it is about features that it could be used (but only if the original source uses Atmos). It is aimed at movies and games, and not for regular music. But, if it is for free then why not? However, I don't want to see some YouTubers claiming that it sounds awesome and it is the best audio and yadayadayada the best purchase ever.1 point -

I'm not sure how well this is known but in California, it is illegal to boycott doing business with Israel and if you do you are classified as "anti-semitic". How awful is it that lobbyists from another country will crucify you if you refuse to do business with their country that regularly engages in genocide by lobbyist that have taken over your own country? Let's just get one thing clear, not supporting Israel is not the same as being anti-Semitic. The fact is the Palestinians are Semites. So if you don't support Israel, technically you are being truly pro-Semitic as most people in Israel are European Jews and not authentic Israeli Jews. And also, let's just be brutally clear, this is not a comment against real Jews. This is a comment against the evil zionist have taken over the great nation of Israel. Zionism is not equal to Judaism in and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.1 point -

I know I'm in no place to properly comment, but seriously, both Amazon and Google were pretty stupid on their approach. That's why they've been failing. For Stadia to work out, you can't expect people to pay a full price for the game that they will never "own" as you need to keep paying the service in order to play it (In contrast to GeforceNow, which you own the game through Steam, Epic, or others). Amazon, we honestly don't know what the heck has been going on with the development of its games: They look disparate and feel like you mash up many buzzwords together, creating something worse than Anthem. I believe the one that has it right is Microsoft: You pay monthly for a service that includes both: the streaming and the games. In case you want the full game, you can pay for it and as long as you have your PC or Xbox you will be able to play it without continuous membership fees. It's a shame that Mixer didn't work out as expected, because it would've been very powerful to just "enter into a game" as soon as you are looking it at a stream.1 point -

And when Firefox starts crashing? We have now run out of browsers, didn't we? Well is chrome crashing or all chromium based browsers crashing? Also if firefox crashes, you have seamonkey, which retrofits the newer Geco Engine from FF into the the unchanged shell of Netscape Navigator 9.0 (still includes Netscape Composer program to let you create your own 90s style html about me pages). Surely THAT program should be stable enough and not crash, as it’s the tried and true 90s.1 point -

If you actually read the Qu'ran, I think you will find that Islamaphobia is certainly justified. Apologists calling Islam the "Religion of Peace" have obviously not read the contents of the holy book. And don't think I'm just picking on Islam. The Bible is almost as barbaric and horrific, but most Christians have never even read it, so it's not quite as dangerous. Oh, and then there's the whole jihad/infidels/martyr stuff that really makes Islam an especially problematic faith for lunatics to subscribe to. Islamaphobia isn't the disease. Faith is.1 point -

Sublime Text 4 Build 4107
Shakil Shahadat reacted to Crow- for a topic
You know that Sublime Text exists for more than 10 already, while VS Code only has 5-6 years. It's still a good product despite the huge success of Code. Sublime Text "was" the best text editor, but the popularity of these web-based text editors like Code and Atom killed it a bit. But like some guys already pointed out there's still a lot of persons that prefer Sublime because it's more lightweight since it's not electron-based like the others.1 point -

It is, but then again when you're not the one trying to figure things out from zero it does help speed things up. Most of the tech needed to do these missions and the knowhow isn't really a close guarded secret like back in the space race of the 60s. It also shows how the US and Russia just sat on their hands for so long when, if they would've kept going the way they were, we'd probably have a few moon bases and a few moon orbiting stations already. And probably well into manned Mars missions. But what happened in the end is what normally happens when the political side of it is done with things and bows out. the race to space and to the moon were astronomically expensive. there's only so much money to go around so when there's the Cold War to fund in the past and local economies to take care of now, the budget for space has shrunken dramatically. neither the Republicans or the Democrats want to prioritize space. Sure it's expensive, no doubt, but in the long run the advances in space tech find it's way into other things and other markets which boosts your economy. And it's not like NASA builds everything it uses in-house. Lots of businesses and jobs are paid for by these programs. The number of parts and pieces built by hundreds of companies out there is crazy. The view that space is a waste of money is so short sighted IMO. But hey, lets spend more on some extra bombs and feed that industrial military machine instead. Doing things for the long term payoff? Nobody is going to go for that. you're darn right...1 point -
