  3. The government is staking a claim over the private sector and use of company assets for their purposes? Yikes. I'm not sure how officials can be deplatformed when they have official government platforms on government sites ex. http://florida.gov and https://www.flgov.com/ and individually they have campaign sites ex. https://rondesantis.com/ Really this us just claiming someone else's property. It's authoritarian.

  6. Russia gives Google 24 hours to delete illegal content or be "throttled"

Not just Google, but even Facebook and Twitter are starting to think of themselves as some demigods who have to control the narrative. If they want to do business in a country they better follow rules of the land than trying to topple governments. Twitter is so close to getting banned in India, it’s not even funny anymore. BTW Putin is not Trump who would take blows lying down.

  7. Treating everyone equally is not communist. Banning speech by one party in favor of another is. That's not what's happening. If the person didn't post hateful and incendiary remarks, they'd probably still be on the platform. Trump literally organized an insurrection that resulted in multiple deaths on a social media platform. It wasn't about his political views. You guys have the fake victim card down pat. People don't get banned for being republicans. They get banned for being ######. There's a difference.

  8. Treating everyone equally is not communist. Banning speech by one party in favor of another is. Learn what communism means. The action isn't all that matters. The actor matters too. Republicans love private business and deregulation until the private businesses do something the politicians don't like. That's a textbook example of government overreach and retaliation.

  13. Treating everyone equally is not communist. Banning speech by one party in favor of another is. They're treating everyone equally. Their ToS applies to everyone. If Republicans happen to spew more intolerant, uninformed or straight out misleading bullcr@p that's their problem.

  14. Treating everyone equally is not communist. Banning speech by one party in favor of another is. it's funny how the republicans are so communistic lately. you have to learn english. you have to swear allegiance to the flag. you have to get a real id. Perhaps educate yourself on the topic of communism... There are numerous things that are government regulated, and just because you don't agree with some of them doesn't mean it's communism. Protecting free speech for the people is not even on the same realm of communism. Don't let your political blinders get in the way of the facts. I have to say I'm amazed at the gall of Republicans to claim they're protecting free speech by actively violating it. Imagine that. Forcing private companies to allow someone a platform is compelled speech and it's a violation of that private company's free speech rights. Republicans insisted that corporations are people. Now reap what you sowed. Honestly, everyone's full of crap tbh. This whole "what about the rights of private companies?!" sob story only seems to matter on whichever day of the week it is and whichever political ideology (read: religion) you subscribe to. What really should be happening is an open and honest conversation about the media we take in now and the responsibility of companies to manage/moderate it. We don't live in the days of television being our only source anymore and really need to re-evaluate how our laws work and what responsibility these companies play in it. I don't care for authoritarian control, but I also don't care for the garbage that gets peddled to the public, whether it's politics or otherwise. ...but that isn't something we're close to doing anytime soon, as people paint themselves up red and blue like this is some dumbass tribal war. What's there to discuss? When someone signs up for a social media account THEY agree to TERMS. No one is forcing them to agree. If they don't like the terms don't use the service. They break the terms and get kicked off the service its on them.

  21. Bill signed to prevent Florida politicians from being 'deplatformed' on social media

conservatives care more about their social media accounts than they do about the actual lives of their fellow americans. no surprise ofcourse considering the only reality they know of comes from tv(fox news) and social media

  22. This isn't going to hold up in court due to legal precedent. Back in 1913, Florida introduced a law that forced newspapers to carry commentary from a political candidate, free of charge, if that candidate had been criticized by the newspaper. The so-called "right to reply" law. There was an election in 1974, and this exact situation came up. The Miami Herald refused to carry comments from a candidate. This ended up in the US Supreme Court where the law was struck down as being unconstitutional. Unanimous decision. (418 U.S. 241) This is pretty much the same thing, all over again -- governments forcing companies to carry speech of politicians. It will end the same way... Section 230 or no, the basic premise of what the legal definition of "free speech" is in the United States hasn't changed in the last 50 years.

  33. Democrats: I love it when people are silenced based on political views that I don't agree with. Away with the orange man! Also democrats: GOVERMENT... STOP MAKING RULES FOR THINGS I DON'T BELIEVE IN! Both of you guys bring up valid points from each side... Here's the ugly part of it all though: when you use the government as a tool to get rid of your foes, your foes then are able to wield those same tools against you as soon as the office changes hands. People don't seem to get this though. The idea or notion of what constitutes a "slippery slope" is lost on them, and they quickly assume that if you're not with them, you're against them. Then the office changes color, the pendulum swings the other direction, and suddenly people are wondering how executive orders are tossed out... 🤷‍♂️

  35. that theme park entry is weirdly specific. probably paid off or something lol but yeah, I see this getting shot down / thrown out at the federal level for the reasons mentioned in the article. Disney brings in and spends a large chunk of money in the state, they probably flexed their wallet and got it added into the bill. The fact it's in there just shows how shallow this is and more for winning some brownie points from their voters.

  36. Microsoft has nothing to do with updating your computer. It's the operating system that they created that does the updating. Microsoft just provides the update. The correct way to say it is "Windows will fail". Anyway, to even make a post like this show how much hate you have towards Microsoft or the updating process. You might want to take a chill pill.

Now having rare builds doesn't have the same hook, since they dish them out through testing channels for anyone who wants them. Of course, I am sure that holding back UI bits in very much on purpose.

  41. Treating everyone equally is not communist. Banning speech by one party in favor of another is. Correction: Nice authoritarian move. Make private companies carry your message. Social media companies have too much power, this is a move to limit it. that can't be a bad thing especially given many in positions of power in the world right now are anti-conservative. but all of the people in here saying 'companies can do what they want' would almost certainly change their tune if it was their side (liberals) being censored. but when it's conservatives being censored, 'companies can do what they want'. p.s. Ron DeSantis is one of the few good politicians out there. it's funny all of the leftist in here are trying to claim conservatives are the 'Communist' ones when it's really obvious it's their side headed in that direction. someone has to be VERY blind not to see that in the big picture, especially for anyone who can see through the lens of Christianity. it's the left who's becoming hostile towards Christianity which is a red flag in my mind as their side are the ones who favor disorder over order when you look at the big picture. "p.s. Ron DeSantis is one of the few good politicians out there" Whoa! Did I really read that correctly? DeSantis is possibly a bigger d**k than Trump is, if that's possible and this bill just proved that, along with all the other dumb a** things he's done, or in his case, not done, also.
