The global chip shortage is finally over... almost, says Goldman Sachs

Intel says this is going to go into 2022, the console makers say this could and probably will go into 2022. A few other chip makers said it's going to go into 2022. So who do you listen to? Notepad++ removes Bing search command following alleged Tiananmen Square censorship
Skyfrog and 3 others reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
Not sure the play here. When it comes to political issues, even with "Tiananmen Square" specific censorship, Microsoft and Bing are at the bottom of the list. Simple, do a test, look up specific censorship of these incidents and other similar human rights violations. Google literally has blood dripping from their hands, in helping disodendents be tracked and killed by various governments. Apple has also bent over without a fight to comply with all censorship requirements in China and other countries. The list goes on and on through various social media companies, like Facebook, along with other online services and partners. So why the slap at Bing? Something Microsoft agreed was wrong. It would be different if Microsoft had not fixed it and instead proclaimed the censorship was 'right' or 'good'. (Which Google, Apple and others have done in similar circumstances. ) Weird. If there is 'more' to this, and there is a real reason for this action that goes deeper than what we know, I want to hear it, we need to hear it, especially if NotePad++ thinks it is important enough to do their own internal protest. PS NotePad++ was a rip off of a similar product over 20 years ago, so there is some internal issues of morality and honesty. (I worked with the developer of the project they ripped off a long time ago. In my opinion they were too kind and shouldn't have just let it go.)4 points -

Suggestion: I would avoid using “till”. It’s informal and inappropriate for using in journalism in the US/Europian markets. The word “Until” should always be used. I have noticed the word “till” being used in english news publications from India and Bangladesh, however, and so that might be appropriate in those market. But I have always seen the word “until” used over “till” in us publications. I may be mistaken in my observation. If so, my apologies, and please feel free to correct me.4 points -

The “human error” is that while Microsoft was updating their list of banned words for the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre (June 4th), they applied the banned word list to all locales, instead of just China-owned locales, where the updated list of banned words would apply by law (banned words/phrases get updated frequently as users find code words/phrases to get around filters that ban a topic from being taught) Must be the same list with Winnie the Pooh on it...3 points -

Ccl Ncc and 2 others reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
"Apple is no stranger to trying to keep its users safe on the internet" Um, that is a bit more generous than they deserve. When they were using marketing and conning users to ignore security, they very much didn't give two ######s about user security or privacy. Even what they are doing now is more lip service than actual technical investment into their products. Example: MacOS is still a ###### show of issues that Apple still ignores. iOS also has major issues, and just because Apple keeps most of the problem out of the press, doesn't mean they aren't still there. Or how about this simple concept. The M1 predictive exploit is something that NEVER should have appeared in any modern design after watching and learning from Intel and AMD and ARM's missteps. They either didn't care, or their engineers on the project are so ######ing arrogant they ignored learning from information and models and data that non-engineers have access across the industry. Apple isn't Google, but they also only 'care' about user privacy when it makes their argument or becomes a selling point. When the opposite was a selling point, doing commercials about Windows and Viruses, their users security/privacy meant nothing. (Also look back at all the times Apple was on the other side of policies and legal cases from Microsoft and others that were fighting for user privacy.)3 points -

I happen to understand science very well I guess everyone is wrong. This guy knows science, very well. You are telling me a lot of these people haven't been talking out of their a$$? They should have all shut up and said we don't know what is going on yet but we will get back to you. This would have freaked out all the stupid sheep that need to be told what to do constantly, so they couldn't do that. Instead they spewed stuff that wasn't factually correct just to appease people. You can argue that science changes with time and that is why they were wrong, but we all know this is not true. A lot of this was political to push a narrative. If I gave management in my job answers that were this wrong, I would be fired or removed from a project. A lot of the stuff they said defied logic and common sense and as soon as sane people started questioning anything, they were labeled as crazy conspiracy theorists. There is nothing wrong with questioning things. How is it good or even legal to only allow one point of view? Ask the people in Nazi Germany how that worked out. Good grief, haha2 points -

Just to update in case anyone at all has interest.. Been a couple of months past a year now.. And have uploaded all my generation to https://pvoutput.org Seems pretty slick for tracking your production and comparison of others with sim sized installs and in the same region of the world as you. I am liking the trend in year 2 so far where first 2 months have surpassed last years production. And last 3 months this year has exceeded estimate of production. Another useful tool I found for estimating what your system should produce for size and location, etc. https://pvwatts.nrel.gov/pvwatts.php And I hit a new all time high production day on 5/29/21 of 51.544 kWh.. I believe the increase in production for Apr and May this year could be partly due at least to my neighbor having cut down a tree that was casting shade on portion of panels in the early morning. If I can maintain my current average for june so far I will surpass estimate this month as well and easy break the 1000 kWh mark. Sure hoping either produce more excess over the summer and fall this year than last year, or we have a sunny winter for 2021.. Ended up using way more electric than produced in Jan and Feb.. And did not have enough rollover to cover.. Another fun milestone is broke 10 MWh, Lifetime Total 10.70 MWh2 points -

I don't think you know this, but as a developer safari is a huge pain, and as long as small developer teams exist outside America, a lot of sites are not going to work properly on safari as Apple just don't seem to understand consistency (their browser on ipad and iPhone supports date input but the macOS one don't, and so many more). Desktop Safari has had date input support since version 14.1 Exactly, 14.1 came out on April of this year (and added date input support after it being available for years on other browsers and iOS safari) with only partial support: https://caniuse.com/input-datetime and that's the kind of inconsistency I am talking about.2 points -

Even for non-gamers, this seems like a really well spec'ed phone! If the camera were class-leading, I'd buy one. But $500-$600 is a decent flagship price. I don't even need the quad-HD display. Full HD is plenty on a phone as long as you aren't wearing it in VR goggles. so this has been my costs for the last year with comed There is a cost for just being connected to the electric company.. Last year it was like 16$, but looks like it has gone down to like 14.50ish this year.. Some sort of credit? So for example here is my bill from last month You can see how much I sent to the grid, and how much I pulled from the grid... Since I sent way more than I used this month. That sits in my account, rolled over - so if I do not produce as much as I use next month I have that many kwh saved up to pay for what I used in the month(s) I do not produce as much as I use. I don't have a battery so always pull from grid at night. And if cloudy, rainy, snow etc.. and not producing as much as using then yes it pulls from the grid. As I mentioned in a previous post - in the first year I saved a few hundred from the year before.. If you add up total cost of solar and what paid electric company. Now time will only tell if was a good choice for the long run, since I didn't buy my system I leased it. Not your best choice for most bang for your buck economically that is for sure, but it was zero out of pocket cost.. I saw it as just locking into a specific cost for electricity, for the time of the lease. So from my point of view I hope electric costs go way up so will be saving more money. And not have to worry about any cost for repairs if something breaks.. But I am happy with choice so far - now will I still be happy in a few years? Not sure - if electric costs drop into the dirt then might not be a good choice.. But the system running is not my problem, so don't have to worry about that. And if doesn't produce what they say it should produce - then they have to pay me the difference.. So I saw it as a way to lock in price of electric and not have to worry. And pretty much lock my monthly cost to a flat cost every month.. Before summer months were killers, I have had a bill well over 200$ for a few months in the summer. Hoping this year I build up more of a rollover to for the winter months.. ###### thing is April 1 they zero your account.. I had 300 some kwh extra in march this year, but they zeroed that out.. Bastards! I think your roll over should just continue to rollover the electric company zero'ing that out is BS if you ask me. Or have a more sunny days this winter.. I would of preferred to have just bought the system outright.. But budget committee (wife) wouldn't let me.. So this was a way to get to play with solar without any out of pocket costs.. Happy to answer any questions you might have - just ask. Keep in mind that other states or other regions of the world - how they deal with net metering or solar users could be way different.1 point -

To hell with your "censorship" and "first amendment" BS! Facebook is a business. They set the terms (of service) for using their service. The same terms which most users simply scroll to the bottom before hitting "I agree", but terms none-the-less. If you violate those terms, and get banned from the service that's entirely on YOU! Has nothing to do with censorship or first amendment. The First Amendment protection protects your freedom of speech from the government. But it is not unrestricted. You can't run into a crowded airport or cinema and yell "Fire!!!" without having to deal with the consequences. Trump violated the terms of service. Now he deals with the consequences.1 point -
