Nvidia to drop Game Ready Driver updates for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 starting this October
stadii and 6 others reacted to Mobius Enigma for a topic
Huh? I took a big crazy step back leap, and can't get to this conclusion. NVidia also doesn't have MacOS System 9 drivers, guess they are trying to help Apple sell new computers too. /s Also... Do we have to go back over all the base technologies in modern video cards and GPUs that simply DOES NOT WORK on Windows 7 due to a lack of features in the WDM? Who on earth is WANTING to run Windows 7 with a modern video card? There are new games that don't support Windows 7. (Which is the primary reason new drivers are released.) This isn't some 'conspiracy'.7 points -

Makes sense. A lot of new games releasing these days aren’t Win7 or 8 compatible. Those users tend to cry a lot on steam forums about it and get butchered by the community because they expect games and driver updates on an end of life platform (in the case of win7)6 points -

Apple adds Windows Precision Touchpad gestures' support to BootCamp on macOS
adam.mt and one other reacted to warrenrumak for a topic
Apple has Bootcamp for Windows on ARM working. Microsoft is the one blocking it It's not that they're "blocking" it. You can, as of today, use Windows on ARM on the M1 Macs in the VM via Parallels. It works fine-ish, I'm doing it right now on my Mac Mini. The issue is that a generalized release of Windows on ARM is still in Insider Preview. The releases we've seen in conjunction with Samsung and Surface devices has been fairly device-specific. Given that it didn't come out of Insider Preview in time for 21H1, it now seems likely that they'll release it with "Sun Valley" later this year.2 points -

Determining the manufacturer of your computer's RAM
+Warwagon reacted to goretsky for a topic
Hello, Reading the At least some of its DRAM products are indeed defective, admits SK Hynix article made me realize that people might need a quick way to identify the manufacturer of the memory modules installed in their computer. While you can definitely find this out by opening up your computer to physically examine the memory, or by running a third-party utility like CPU-Z, it is not always convenient to open a computer to look inside, nor is it always possible to install third-party software. Also, if you are managing multiple computers, you might want to use something that's built into Windows and can be scripted. Although it is being deprecated, the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Command Line Utility (filename: WMIC.EXE) allows you to query the system for various types of information about the computer, including the type of memory installed in it. With that in mind, I came up with the following line to check the relevant information about a computer's installed memory. It can be run from a standard Windows Command Prompt (filename: CMD.EXE) : wmic memorychip get manufacturer, otheridentifyinginfo, partnumber, serialnumber, sku So what exactly does this command do? It calls the WMIC command with the memorychip alias (setting), and then to get the following properties from it: manufacturer - the manufacturer of the installed memory module otheridentifyinginfo - blank for the RAM I tested with, but may provide information partnumber - the part number of the installed memory module serialnumber - the serial number of the installed memory module sku - blank for the RAM I tested with, but may provide you with the SKU (stock keeping unit) of the installed memory module Depending upon the manufacturer of your memory, not all of these fields may be present. To see all the different properties available that you can query, issue the following command: wmic memorychip get /? Or, if you want to view them all: wmic memorychip list full If you do the "get all" query, you may wish to redirect the output to a text file, otherwise you are going to be presented with a lot of information. Linus Torvalds asks COVID vaccine conspiracy theorist to "SHUT THE HELL UP"
wingliston reacted to spame338 for a topic
Huh, didn't know. Either way yeah I can sympathize. My grandfather had prostate cancer in his late 70's. The doctor told him to do chemo rather than just remove the prostate. Doing chemo at that age is basically a death sentence, not that we knew that. But this is the dirty truth that many don't realize about doctors. It's a money making business just like all others in society. Rather than spending a couple grand on removing his prostate my dad and family spent tens of thousands doing chemo and spent even more when that couldn't be done anymore. When the insurance company wouldn't cover hospital stays any more the doctors advised just letting him die. A year of pain could've been avoided with the simple procedure but the doctor advised against it because one involved more profit (fairly certain my dad tried suing after). As well my mother had trouble getting pregnant and her doctor said she had certain issues that required some really intense surgery for her to get pregnant. Luckily my dad was smart enough to seek a second opinion and the other doctor said the first doctors prognosis was total Bull s!#t. My mom had 3 kids after. So yeah there are many wonderful doctors out there who are there to save people's lives and really do care. But like in any field there are good people and bad. Dealing with hundreds of cases could desensitize even the most empathetic person if one isn't careful. I'm just sorry it drove this guy to total paranoia about doctors.1 point -

I've seen this incident reported and commented on on other websites and twitter threads. I was really beginning to wonder if there is even ONE person pointing out the obvious: that Torvalds is not a doctor. I personally know doctors who told me that it's super safe and at the same time other doctors who tell me anything from "you don't/you shouldn't" to "stay clear of this one at least for a couple of years no matter what". On that note, I took my ###### car to 5 car repairs over the last year and a half almost paid half it's cost on maintenance. All shops had specialists, mechanics, etc. Professionals in the field. Men of the craft. Two agreed on one thing, the other three all "fixed" something else. Ended up googling auto repair. A kid showed up at the door with a tablet in hand. Said he can fix it by calibrating via software. Been 2 months, runs smooth, no problems. Experts and "experts". and experts.1 point -

Exactly, I have seen many severe form of corona pneumonitis cases, almost all of them didn't take vaccine. People who have taken vaccine, got only milder form. Only seen 1 case of severe pneumonitis who has taken only 1 jab, but she recovered in no time with non invasive ventilation and steroid + Enoxaparin therapy. I highly recommend vaccine but never lower your guards because you can still spread or have milder variety of the disease.1 point -
