For the last how many years Sony/fans have been beating the drum about how their platform is the best, largely in part to exclusives. Sony spends many millions to ensure exclusivity to their platform. And now they want to raise a ruckus because of game exlusivity? Get over it, and yourselves. You helped build the industry and it's practices, so no sense in whining about your poor choices to everyone else.5 points -

Sikh and 4 others reacted to dustojnikhummer for a topic
Exclusivity is never fair. It's a system that only screws over the customers. So I agree with your "Sony Ponies" on that. However, the fact that Microsoft also releases everything on PC helps a bit, even though the most ideal solution would be if they could have released Game Pass on Playstation and released the game on all platforms. You are missing the point. Sony buys a studio and makes games exclusive: praise Microsoft does the same: BOO Of course exclusives are bad for everyone but the corporation, but people seriously thought MS would drop 7.5 billion dollars on Zenimax and then not make those games exclusive to Xbox/Windows?5 points -

Sony isn't going to pay you 5 penny! Never understood when people are loyal to a company, they don't give a dime (they will take your dimes though). In this Sony started this nonsense of exclusives, so i guess I am fine with them getting test of their own medicine. It also seems like people are forgetting that Sony actually tried to make Starfield a PlayStation exclusive before MS grabbed all of Zenimax itself. But it seems that somehow that little tidbit would've been just fine, in some bizarre way.3 points -

I think thats an easy statement to make if you're not one of the pished off players. If you've been impacted by this decision, you'd probably welcome a little more tact rather than coming across like a-hole. Since when is saying "I apologize" considered being an A-hole? If you think that, then it wouldn't matter what the guy said, you would still say he's an A-hole.3 points -

However, the fact that Microsoft also releases everything on PC helps a bit, even though the most ideal solution would be if they could have released Game Pass on Playstation and released the game on all platforms. Does it really though? Is your life somehow in shambles if platform A has something platform B doesn't? Why isn't this a issue when it comes to streaming video services and only games? The moaning about exclusives in gaming is BS, like it's somehow a new thing, it's not. Since the start of consoles they've always had a number of exclusives, back then no one moaned about them and they were just called "system sellers" and people moved on with their lives. Besides, like you said, everything is on game pass so it's on your console your pc or streamed to your phone, soon your tv, and soon your last gen Xbox to. And I seem to remember that some people said Xbox's games aren't exclusives because they're also on the PC, how is that narrative changed now? Agreed, I'd love to play games like Horizon Zero Dawn on Xbox, but I can't because Sony chooses to have exclusives too. I'm not going into a meltdown over it. I choose the Xbox platform because it has distinct advantages over PlayStation and I'm a big PC gamer too, which makes the Game Pass Ultimate sub a no-brainer, especially as it includes streaming now too. I'm not going to whine and cry because I can't play some PS games, as much as I might want to.3 points -

Twitter loses its intermediary status in India, can be sued for unlawful content
mip and 2 others reacted to dustojnikhummer for a topic
It will be a good thing for India. As a matter of fact, for any nation. 😜 *Sigh* Ok, fine. I get that some people hate Twitter and similar networks for whatever reason. But there are also plenty of people, including those in India, that use it as a legitimate service. My point was, if the Indian government want to try and dictate how Twitter runs their service or wants to hold them personally accountable for what users post, could Twitter not just shut India out to avoid India's threats? I guess they would need to make a decision. Is it worth the legal battles to remain in India, or is it cheaper to cut them out? "We investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong" Someone has to call out Twitter. They are a publisher, not a platform3 points -

Doubt it, It'll sell well, it's not like this is the first ever Bethesda game to be exclusive to the Xbox, people forget the past quick. Besides, console+PC, there's a huge chunk of users ready to buy it. And by 11/11/22 they'll probably let you stream it to the last gen Xbox One along with all the other devices game pass supports.2 points -

"We investigated ourselves and found nothing wrong" Someone has to call out Twitter. They are a publisher, not a platform But you're missing my point. Regardless of if Twitter's actions, or their decisions about their userbase, is right or wrong, if a country decides that they are going to take legal action against the company there is nothing to stop the company from no longer being a presence there, correct? Just like how Facebook blocked Australia a few months back. Twitter could just say, "ok then. We'll not provide Twitter to India" and see if the population care enough to complain to their government and try to get change to happen. Again, I'm not saying whether this is a good or bad power to have. I'm just pointing out that it is there for them to use. It's interesting. TikTok was more popular in India than Twitter. But it was banned hard and fast. See the result? People moved over to other homegrown platforms. It is TikTok (Byte Dance) who lost the most where they are looking for buyers.2 points -
UK government urged to subsidise broadband for those on low-incomes
n_K and one other reacted to Garry for a topic
Nah. I don’t really want to get into discussions about socialism vs capitalism but any suggestion of giving something to some people for free, while others have to pay for it is always going to be controversial - especially when the people paying are the very same ones being asked to provide the subsidies. If there is cash in the proverbial bank, why not invest it into the country’s communications infrastructure and essentially subsidise the wholesale cost of the service? In essence, subsidise the service providers and legislate to bring the retail cost down across the board.2 points -
