Excel 2010 Help - Cell Formatting

Question

Hi all.

Just need some expertise on Excel 2010. I've tried Binging but no luck.

I'm basically creating a Rota template for departments at work. Everythings fine except I want the fields that they enter shift times to automatically have the double colons ( : ) and dashes ( - ). For example, they simply need to type 08001700 and the cell will automatically format it to 08:00-17:00.

Is that possible?

One more question is, am I able to Lock a row of cells so if anyone tries to enter something else or write over it, it will block them from doing so. For example if I have a cell with formulaes and they want to put in a number instead, it won't allow it without a password or something.

Thanks.

1. in the custom format for the cells type in this:

00":"00"-"00":"00

2. You might be able to use the worksheet change event to capture changes to the cell then ignore them.

I'll need to check though.
