MxxCon
unless you'll call ISP of that ip/email w/ a subpeana to surrender personal info, you can't.

mAcOdIn Veteran Posted September 11, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 11, 2003 To elaborate on what MxxCon is saying: People can only find information about you if you have previousely given that information up. An email address by itself isn't that much, but if it's say a yahoo address and has a profile attached then they can get whatever info you made available. Your ISP however is the only person that knows what persons account is associated with a given IP address at any given time. So to get your personal info from just an IP like MxxCon said you'd have to find out from the ISP through either legit or non legit ways. Lots of people info is available from email though because alot of us have multiple accounts with different free email providors and have never cancelled some of our older stuff, like yahoo, excite, hotmail, lycos, mailcity. Further instant messaging clients also have alot of info available like ICQ which we've long forgotten but my still be associated with your email address so publick to see. If you don't ever want people to get your address don't ever give it out, and give a fake one when necessary to sign up for something.
MxxCon
searching for email can show you real name of that person searching for that name can show you phonenumber/address of that person if you have either of these 2 infos you can prolly find the other. Finding info on anyone is so easy. whois.net is for servers and there are many diff sites for names etc... learn what whois.net is for before you reply. the only thing whois.net will tell you is who owns a given domain name. and ARIN will show you who owns given ip block. that's it. there is absolutly no way to connect a random ip address to a real name using whois/arin database.
