jerzdawg
i have a linksys 4 port router with built in firewall.. i was wondering if it was possible to disable that firewall? i have tried numerous times to open ports and stuff to run a server for a game or gamespy with no luck.. no one is able to join my games.. so i was wondering if i could just disable the firewall completely.. thanks.. sportjeeptj99
I do not believe you can. Unless is is the more advanced VPN/Firewall model. But I dont think you can completely disable the firewall in either.
bangbang023 Veteran Posted September 11, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 11, 2003 if you want......setup dmz for your partiucular PC. It basically exposes it completely to the net, removing the firewall for that one local IP.

Make sure you clean out your router's old port forwarding settings if you enable DMZ to a particular host.
Mr. Black
Also for good safekeeping, click "Disable" to "Block WAN Request". Make sure to enable it once done hosting games.

Miyagi Son
Dont do any of that stuff. Trust me as i was a game admin many times. Get the latest firmware then you need a static ip. Open the port for the game under advanced>forwarding lets say you want to run star wars under port 28070 then u would do 28070-28070 udp and tcp under ur static and and check enable. Make sure the ip's are correct and then try running the game.
