How fast is your college network?

I love our campus connection, I can easily get 800-900 KiloBytes/s from some websites

I feel bad because when I go home, the cable internet feels slow.

Oh and we have a student population of about 28,000. Of course not all live on campus.

We get 800-900 Kilobytes/s, not kilobits. Isn't that what you mean by kbps?

kbps = kilo bytes per second.

900kbps would be like a dsl line.

Where do you live? Verizon dsl here is 1.5mbps and cable is like 4-7mbps

You see the screenshot i posted of a speed test of my cable. Its sad to hear that 900kbps is fast where you are.

Yea, I see it. What sites can you download and get that fast of a speed off of? I see the 1.5 Mbps line on the speed test. I'm from around Charlotte, NC and the cable/dsl isn't near 1.5 Mbps.

My dad works as the lead network engineer here at IU and I can tell you the monstrous amounts of bandwidth we have. We're basically directly connected to the AT&T backbone with direct fiber links to IUPUI and Internet 2.
