lieb39
Hello Everyone, A week or two ago I had to format my laptop because it was way to unstable. No problems there, but I seem to have lost a name of a really good program. A few days before I formatted my laptop I downloaded a free program that was excellent. It basically worked like this; you would type the name of a computer that was on your LAN and than it would get all types of infomation about that computer. This includes, but is not limited to, CPU, RAM, HDD Infomation, OS, and more. It also had another very helpful function, on another tab in the program you could view all the open processes on the remote computer and you can end any, as needed. This program could run on 9x, 2000 and XP I believe, and the client could be 9x, 2000 or XP I believe. One thing I am sure about is that this program didn't need any client software. Does anyone know the name of this program? I believe that the program was free, but not sure about that. Thanks, lieb39

Scraggles
So which program is it? I'm interested.
lieb39
None of them listed... I got the program of a forum... It was either Neowin's, NTFS's or Netstumbler. I was looking on NTFS's forum for 3 hours, no luck. I was looking on this forum for 1 hour, 0 hours at netstumbler, but I doubt its there. Anyone? -lieb39

lieb39
Nope :pinch:. You guys are missing a element, the program would get data about another computer, and the processes that are running on another computer. -lieb39

lieb39
Haha, for "legal" purposes right? {mods, don't close this thread, because i really need to use this for my network, it would really be helpful} -lieb39
Scraggles
Well, I believe the purposes are legal. I'm a father of two and I'd like to keep an eye on my kids. I allow them to do virtually anthing. Including the fact that I let them put deadbolts on their bedroom doors. I let them enjoy themselves, but with recent downloading/lawsuit issues, I'd love to be able to avoid getting fined because of my son or daughter downloading the cd's that we have the money for. So, I guess I'm just looking for easy to use network administering options. I'm not very computer literate and I need the ease of use.
Scraggles
BTW, I Don't have keys to the deadbolts. I believe in their privacy to a certain degree.

Scraggles
No, give me a few places to search, and maybe a little more detail about it and I'll see what I can find. Sounds like it would really help in my situation.

mAcOdIn Veteran Posted September 13, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 13, 2003 Hmm never used these but are the only ones I could find. http://www.usro.net/products/hardinfo/ http://www.microforge.net/Products/Auditor/overview.htm I must say I'm kinda skeptical because you shouldn't be able to shut down services at will like that on another pc unless you were logged on remotely so I'm really not sure what you're talking about.
