Wondering if I have a Virus

Question

Wellll..

Downloaded some weird **** from some other language (exe files) and antivir said it was all good, So thought hmm okay Let's see..

then noticed @ sidebar my CPU meter reaching 100% and Memory going @ 100% aswell, went to task manager, some program called FAH..something :p

anyway.. killed the program (several times) It's gone now.. but memory usage is still 84% .. and stays around that.

I have 6GB ram, so basicly its using 5 gb ram 100% of the time.. suddenly...

Virus ? Spyware? Hax?

Input suggested ;(

Thanx

I would say so. Download CCleaner and look at the start up items. If you're infected, you'll see some crazy file names wanting to launch when you start your PC (Safe Mode /w netowrking may be necessary to install CCleaner).

You may be able to manually remove the offending file by navigating to the folder that the file is located in and just back out and delete the folder.

Sounds like it could have been Folding@Home running. I believe that has a task called FAH and can max out your CPU using its idle cycles to crunch numbers.

"Downloaded some weird **** from some other language (exe files) "

What?? So you randomly download **** and run it?? What was it you thought you were running? I highly doubt it was any sort of folding at home client - since that would of ran through a setup, asking lots of questions, etc before just kicking off and running at max cpu, etc.

I'm just flabbergasted that you download something that was in a different language even - and just run it the first place, I don't care if every single antivirus product on the planet said it was clean!! WTF where you thinking??

If you have to ask "Am I infected?" then 99% of the time, the answer is yes.
