orestes
just out of curiousity...I wonder why no-one has started up a boycott of the CD industry. They got caught overcharging for CDs...had to repay to whomever signed that online form (which was no-where near redemption for how many CD's ive purchased since 1996 or whatever the date was) and now they are still 15-19.99 in stores (which is also ridiculous for a 25cent piece of plastic with printed paper in it), and now they are sueing to get that money back plus. They blame P2P for the 30% drop in music sales...why do they think people wnet to P2P...had to have alittle to do with the prices if not all to do with. naap51stang
Heck, I haven't bought a CD in years! Since I listen mostly to 70's music, I've pretty much got everything I want in a CD (bought when they put them on sale for 9 bucks or less). I bought an XM satellite radio setup in May and between that, and my collection of CD's, I wouldn't buy a CD again.....unless the price comes down to a level that is CONSISTANT with the lack of quality of the recordings. Most of the songs today are junk. It's the same with the movies. There isn't anything ORIGINAL anymore.......it's all part 2, part 3....they just recycle the same junk over and over. :alien:
~Bull}{Dog~
CDs are cheap enough and I like music... Downloading is not an option cause of the crappy quality that you get when you have to rely on some muppet ripping what sounds like a 50 year old vinyl played on a gramophone and encoded with the lowest possible bitrate then relabled as 190 kbps Besides.. I'm quite proud of my music collection, and it looks more impressive filling up a room and not a hard drive ;) The only thing that gets me is copy protected CDs... I prefer to listen to my music on my computer. Its quick and easy and I dont have to risk runining my favorite discs.. Its nice to get out the original now and again though so you can hear the whole thing without missing the bits that lossy codecs cut out. I'm rambling now.. bah... Basically, the following pic sums things up quite well for me, dont click if you are offended by naughty words and what not... http://bc.mortality.net/bbs_imgs/riaa.jpg
Shibby
u can it a good idea. but i am anoyed that the artists make money from sites like i tunes who rake in alot of money they say nothing about this when they say the cd sales are down. the ammout od cds have gone down cause nearly every pc has a cd-r so they download the album or tracks, so they use sites such as itunes to make they own cds cause who wants to pay like ?15 for a few tracks. my mum and dad has brought the new norah jones cd it like only got 7 tracks Wasup with that y did they waste they money on a cd that last like half an hour. AQUaDeX
it's the record companies that should be boycotted (not universal I personally think, they are willing to slash prices already) but it's simply lame to boycott CDs entirely and make it an excuse for you to download all you want on P2Ps, CDs is the way and best way for artists to get their rewards (do you have any wild idea how little the artists get when you download from the net music stores?)
