Steve
I think that's clinched it, i've put an order through with pipex :D thanks for the posts every1 else Cool! Nice one! ... They even actually know what Mac OS X is, which is kinda nice. BT?! Pfh! They just seemed 2 overcharge for their services, they remind me very much of AOL, in that the services, from what i have seen are 2nd rate, and yet they are advertised in your face all the time! Another key thing, is that i leave my Mac on, and connected the internet all the time, sometimes doing very much but sat idle in iChat, and yet Pipex don't make a remark about. From my experience, the service is provided "exactly as it says on the tin :p", whereas BT were dropping people for using their DSL home line, TOO often or something! WTF? Edit: ... Oh, and their 20mb webspace supports remote image linking! :D :p

Can us 512KB subscribers move onto this service? Got anymore info on this, or are you gonna force me onto Pipex.net ?:pp
Inertia
I recommend www.zen.co.uk and i also recommend buying your router from them. They offer the best support i have ever experienced, they do not have desk monkeys followign support flowcharts when you call up, they have intelligent people who troubleshoot your problems efficiently, weather it is a problem at your end or at theirs. and lets face it , BT are in charge of your lin e whatever ISP you go to, so iif theres gonne be a problem, you want it diagnosing properly, as BT are a bunch or arse :) Thay are a bit dearer than a lot of ISPs, but liek a god beer, they are reasuringly expensive. the 1mb home connection is available now

aldo
DJ Prem: It starts on 8th oct. You can preorder now, but they don't start upgrading people until 8th oct. Inertia: It's 'coming soon' and costs ?34/month. All pipex 512k customers can upgrade. The cost is ?35+vat and if the upgrade fails (phone line too long/not high enough signal rate etc) then you get put back onto 512k and the ?35+vat is refunded. _Pablo
i also heard demon were good, but have no experience with them, you best bet would be to check the site above Been with Demon since march on ADSL (since 1995 on dialup and ISDN) and since switching to ADSL their service has been absolutely terrible, with no improvement in sight. The Packet loss is staggering - refresh, refresh, refresh...ooh it works! Ping and traceroute are now blocked, Demon claim it's due to the Welchia worm, but I suspect it's also a handy cover for the constant packet loss. Check out demon.service for some horror stories. Plus it's a year contract with Demon that they won't let you out of - my advice, go with Nildram, it's only a month contract (so you can leave quickly) and I've heard only good things about them, plus they always top the ADSLGuide speed tests. StuRReaL
Pipex is the best imo ?23 per month for 512k and ?30 for 1mbit www.pipex.com can't say fairer than that tbh, service is always fast here in Derby
