Read-Only Unaccessible to Programs

Question

I HATE the fact that windows can't keep read-only files, well read-only even to programs. I know such a program exists that may password protect or in some manner prevent any file modification of any file unless human intervention is supplied (eg password, prompt, something)

Any help tia! :)

Try FolderLock (warning: shareware)

Or you can simply set NTFS permissions to Deny Full Control for Everyone (in that case Owner must manually change permissions before accessing). Will protect against accidental access from someone who doesn't know about permissions; I've used that trick several times.

Edit: NTFS permissions can also protect files/folders from attribute change by programs.

What?? What exactly are you wanting to prevent from accessing said file.. I suggest you read up on ntfs permissions.. No the read-only attribute is not very useful normally, especially to users that don't even understand when and how its suppose to be used.

Give us some details of what is happening or what is not happening and what you want to happen and we can help.. But from your info I have no freaking clue to what your asking about to be honest.
