Metrics-like app for Windows 7

Question

I remember way back, from my Windows 2000 days, this app that let you assign portions of your screen for certain tasks or windows, so a maximized windows did not occupy your entire screen, but just a part of it while other apps could occupy other portions. Is something like this for Windows 7? Someone recommended Stardock's Fences but it seems it's just for desktop icons.

You could give Windi a try: http://projectwindy.codeplex.com/

It's a tool to separate your screen like the OSX App Divvy which does:

Divvy is an entirely new way of managing your workspace. It allows you to quickly and efficiently "divvy up" your screen into exact portions.

With Divvy, it?s as simple as a single click and drag in the Divvy interface and your window will be resized and moved to a relative portion of the screen. If that seems like too much work, you can go ahead and create as many different shortcuts as you'd like that resize and move your windows.
