redrope
Yes and no. I only download full albums now, and if I like it, which is a lot, I always buy the CD. So if they sue me, at least I have the CD.

zivan56
I'm sharing around 5,000 songs now and dont plan to stop downloading, as I live in Canada and pay a levy for buying blank CD's that gets money to the artists. I dont download US music though, so I guess they wouldnt even care.
bach_m
zivian56, when did that happen??i live in canada too, and never heard of that!
Ash
Theres been a blank media levy here in Canada for a while (At least 1999). Its to reimburse artists for people copying music. I dunno the full complete details of the law, but apperently it gives you the right to make copy of music for personal use. Tho sharing would still be considered illegal. thundros
Like zivan56 said, it's not an issue here in Canada what thr RIAA does. The levy we have to pay here does pay off :) More info? Check these posts out: The RIAA already lost Canadians can swap music Sad thing with all this suing and recrimination is that I was able to discover new music via P2P and actually spend money on the music I really wanted. The music that is crap is deleted. In the end (like redrope) I have the CD and the digital version. The only problem is that if only the artists were really helped by CD sales, it would be even better. Sure they get more recognition from sales, but that's not where they make the bulk of their money. The RIAA and the music companies need to shape up, that's all I can say. memNOC
soulseek used to be my #1 source for getting pre-releases and newly released underground stuff.. but since its been down for a couple weeks now, i'm using Kazaa or IRC to get all my classics and complete the albums im looking for.. i honestly (and shamefully :() say i havent bought a CD (for myself, anyway) in my entire life.. this is mostly due to the fact that there is not much to chose from here in Banana Land, unless you like Pop, any form of derivative (Pop-Rock, Pop-Hop, etc..), or simply old classic albums.. everything important, like new releases generally take months to get here, and even then, its not my music to begin with.. :/ so yea, i only download stuff for now.. i AM planning to get into online shopping once i get my credit card going.. i cant wait  most of the stuff i want and dont have, i can only get through specific online sources, anyway.. but no, i could give two flying monkey craps about the RIAA.. in most cases tho, the artists i listen to are, either non affiliated with the RIAA, or themselves dont care about them.. :/ RIAA: GO SUCK A FAT STICK!
