Download instead of stream?

is it always possible? say i have a .asx file. i open it in notepad, and i can get the address where it's streaming from. how can i just download the whole file with that address?

get total recorder and record the stream...it costs like $15 and it's worth every penny...you'll get a wav file, which imo much better than an .asx file.

he wont get an asx file.. asx is just the playlist that opens up WMP.. he can save it, open it in notepad, and copy/paste the actual URL of the file and download it as usual.. problem is most download managers dont support protocols such as mms or rtsp (cuz theyre restricted for streaming use, obviously), but there are a couple programs out there that can download from these servers, hence his question..

its much easier than recording the stream, especially considering some of these programs are freeware..

I tell you, I FIRMLY believe if you are a member of something You pay large cash for a month (like PlayboyNet), you should be able to download the RealVideo files there, kept on your HD.

I believe many sites JUST worry that people will SHARE their video to elsewhere, to people are not a member, I think that's really the key reason why even you pay you can't get a copy locally.
