Best .mp3 player?

Question

So I recently reformatted because my computer is archaic specs wise and I wanted a fresh start.

What do you guys use for .mp3 players that have easy to create playlist options and decent customization?

I do prefer a relatively minimalist look. Less is more in my opinion.

In the past I have played with and used Winamp. What else is out there?

Foobar might be what you want then. It's lightweight, and can be customized to a virtually endless degree. It isn't the most friendly application though, especially if you're not prepared to learn. I know I wasn't. You might also be interested in Helium Music Manager but it isn't the most minimalistic. It has a ton of features though. AIMP2 is another suggestions I'd give you, but I don't know if you'd be too interested in it.

Can't go wrong with Foobar2000. Very lightweight, extremely customizable, pretty good support forum if you stuck using it, numerous themes, if that's your thing

Only downside is it can be a bit of a pain setting it up the way you like it, but that's half the fun, I did notice the last time I installed it for someone it a basic setup wizard now which I could have done with a few years ago.

Good luck

Sounds like foobar2000 is right up your alley.

VLC plays EVERYTHING!!

None of my 8 machines are any where near modern by todays standards and I'd be willing to bet OP's computer is better spec wise than most of mine, mainly because I know most of the people on here think anything under a quad core, 3ghz cpu, 6MB memory is feeble!!

Let's start with a simple question. Is the machine so archaic, you have to install XP?

VLC or Real might work for yah good.

I prefer powerful players like Media Jukebox, however though.

6MB of what? RAM?

Oh man. Imagine if it was possible to build a machine like that. Is there a version of DOS that is capable of multi-threading? :shifty:

I have a follow-up question to what he asked. I'm currently using Winamp, which I love and probably won't stop using, but sometimes I use KMPlayer to play an mp3 or video. My ONLY complaint with KMPlayer is that it doesn't have player controls (play, pause, stop, next track, etc. built into the thumbnail preview that pops-up when you hover over the program on the Windows 7 Superbar. Does Foobar, Zune, Itunes, or any other media player have this feature? Basically, are they designed for Windows 7, or are they still behind the times? I haven't tried the newest KMPlayer, but I'm guessing they still haven't updated that part. I know there's a program called Potplayer, which the creator of KMPlayer started. Does anyone know if it has what I'm looking for? I was surprised to see that Microsoft's own Windows Media Center doesn't even have that feature. I wish they would update that! Hopefully Win8 will have it. Thanks!!
