Internet problems with fresh installed Windows 7 SP1

Question

Hy

Just installed (here-me) Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 on a friend notebook including some software & eset smart security suite and all worked fine. When he reached home and tried to connect his notebook to his router (D-link Dir600) poor connection appeared to ruin his dreams..tried to disable firewall & even unninstall eset but situation is still the same. Any suggestions related ?

Thanks for support.

Even though you uninstalled eSet, I'd still point the finger at eSet. It played havoc on my system when I installed it. Can your friend do a repair installation?

Of W7 SP1? Yes.. but it's really necessary?

Also .. here, on my router (Linksys) & my connection with that Eset SS all worked fine..that's what I call wierd.

the day that Eset started forcing the firewall on me was the day i stopped using it. it's probably having trouble registering the new network, removing it doesn't remove all the blocking it does. you have to install it back and disable the firewall and then remove it. I have no idea why I had such trouble with it back in the day but I am also totally pointing the finger at it.

use microsoft security essential and windows firewall, it will be more than enough.

Hello,

Probably may be that network drivers may still need to be updated. Check the notebook manufacturer's web site to see who makes the wired and wireless LAN chips inside the notebook, then visit their respective support web sites to download the latest drivers.
