Requesting opinions on Home Theater System

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I've been seriously considering buying this system.. the JVC THB-60

http://www.jvc.ca/en/consumer/product-deta...sp?model=THB-60

The fact that its on sale right now is making it a pretty good deal that I don't think I can pass up. Though I always have reservations when it comes to spending a good chunk of change (it'll be $500 canadian before 15% tax) and would like opinions from others who have and know home theater setups.

I know someone who has the model down from this (jvc thb-50) and it kicks some supreme ass imho. Great system for the money. I realize theres definately better out there but this one is in my price range and from my experience, will kick some ass.

What are your opinions on it?

specs that I could find..

This 700 Watt Home Theatre System features Dolby Digital/DTS Processing and Dolby Pro Logic II. The system includes an 8" 200W Power Subwoofer and 5 2-way satellite speakers. It uses all video options including Component and S-Video switching.

yea I'm always good for a deal thats why this one seems good with the sale thats on for it atm.

i'm not familiar with home stereo specs (eg. frequency response, etc) so what I guess i'm looking for is if someone could tell me whether or not the specs on this is decent. like i said, i've heard the model down from this going and it sounds great for a $450 system, so I can only imagine that this one will sound just as good.

ultimately i'd just like someone who's really into home theater to let me know if its missing anything terribly important that i'd kick myself later for. 6.1 and 7.1 seems overkill for me...

We just bought a new A/V Reciever for our Home Theater, so I'm pretty up to date on new technologies and terms. Overall your system looks good - things to consider: your system has no DTS or THX but it really doesn't matter and your system doesn't support upconverting so consider whether or not you are going to have an HDTV hooked up to the system. We had also stopped by the Bose Outlet store in North Carolina and picked up a 3-2-1 system later for the boat, and the sorround sound feels so real it's unbeliable.. we're considering a 32" plasma and maybe a 40", undecided of course, for the boat.

If someone wants to flame me goahead, really i could care less what the **** you have to say. My parents are selling this house when I turn 18 and living on the boat.
