Aaron Veteran Posted September 16, 2003 Veteran Share Posted September 16, 2003 I just got a 10GB iPod and think it is probably the best looking, solid feeling gadget I have ever purchased. If Apple computers are this tight in fit and finish I am definately getting a Mac next time around. ;) Anyway, I have heard how this palyer is more than just a music palyer, with a lot of extra functionality, etc. So my question to other iPod owners: "What do you do with your iPod? How do you use it day to day?" "Where are the good sites realting to iPods?" "What are some must have accessories?" I am loving mine. I couldn't even get out of the parking lot before I had to rip open the box! :D

Aaron Veteran Posted September 16, 2003 Author Veteran Share Posted September 16, 2003 what should you do with it?? uh..its an mp3 player. i'll give you one guess? Well thank you for such a helpful response. There are plenty of things you can use the iPod for, contacts, notes, calender, alarm clock. THAT is what I am talking about. I am just curious as to how people use them in real, everyday practical use. Why would you even take the time to reply to a message when all you have to offer is lame a$$ sarcasm? EDIT: Also, did you not even read my post? I have several questions that go beyond "What do I use this for." I can see how your post count has gotten so high, don't really put much thought or effort into posts do ya?

Bling3k12
If you're talking about the UI, it's Chicago. For the other stuff, it's a variant of Myriad, the one I have is Myriad Pro, looks good.

seethru
I bought one about a month ago, downloaded ephpod...download that. It allows you to download news from some sites (I believe as long as they use xml), such as slashdot, and it puts the headlines into your IPOD. It also allows generation of playlists based on genre, album, most recent etc etc. Also allows you to import contacts, dunno about notes. Also, try http://www.ipodhacks.com, nice little site, not too many hacks but some that are interesting. OMG 100TH POST! PS: I love my ipod, I take it everywhere, I bought a car charger, tape adapter, and fm transmitter (for my 2003 accord that doesn't have a tape deck, just changer) plus I bought the carrying case and remote. Carrying case = a must, don't wanna scratch that beautiful lcd screen. Edited September 16, 2003 by seethru

I am looking for a tight fitting case preferably with a belt clip. Just something that would work well clipped on gym shorts while working out. Any suggestions? Thanks again. seethru
Apples case is great, it doesn't have a clear space for the lcd, but thats for the best. It also has a great belt clip :D

thetman
instead of posting a whole new thread figured id ask here - should I get a refurbished ipod 30gb for $349 or a new 40gb for $470, cash is kinda tight and i really only have about 25gb of music i listen too, so would 30gb be all i really need? both of those are with educational discount through apple. Does the refurbished not include anything such as dock? what about a protection plan is worth it?

Does the refurbished not include anything such as dock? what about a protection plan is worth it? It depends. You can also use it as an external harddrive if you get a 40, but since you are a bit tight on money, go for the 30gb. No point in getting a 40 is you only have 25gb worth of music. ;)

Carrying case = a must, don't wanna scratch that beautiful lcd screen. ephpod absolutely rocks compared to the crap Music Match that somes with it. Great tip! This is what I have done to justify in my own mind the cost of the ipod. I am now listening to songs that I bought a long time ago, but were on otherwise crappy albums. You know, when you here a kick a$$ song onthe radio, go out an dbuy the album only to find out that the rest completely sucks (Smash Mouth, "Walking on the Sun" comes to mind)? Well I would seldom pop in those CDs to just listen to a song and then pop it out and change discs... so I am finally getting my money's worth on all those CDs from before. I almost have myself convinced. :D
